Thirty Two: Jihoon's Base
Oak Prince
Jungkook wiped the blood off the palm of his hand on the soldier's uniform he was wearing.
The two had successfully found the location of the base where Jihoon was keeping Taehyung, but it wasn't without a little trouble.
"You didn't have to punch that guy after he said those things...I didn't let it bother me," Jimin chirped from atop his horse, happy that they had succeeded.
"I know, I know," Jungkook glanced behind him as if remembering, "It's just that I can't have people saying stuff like that," Jungkook lowered his voice, "Or doing stuff like that- to my Jimin!"
Jimin laughed and faced forward again, mind drifting off to the future. Jungkook however, was still mulling over the event that had just taken place moments ago.
As part of the plan to find information, they had needed to find a relatively small group of Jihoon's men to engage with. Lucky for them, there were two soldiers manning a check in point at one of the gates leading up to the Laurel Castle. Keeping people out was their main priority, but Jungkook and Jimin didn't have intentions of going to the Laurel Castle. They were there to appropriate information through a skit they had prepared.
That Jungkook didn't like one bit.
A little ways before the checkpoint, the two disguised princes hopped off of their horses and tied them up in the woods. If the guards saw that they were riding on such nice horses, it would create a bit of suspicion that neither of them could afford.
"Alright, so...how do I do this," Jungkook walked up to a feminine Jimin, confused about how he was supposed to "drag her" to the guards and still make it look realistic, "I-I don't want to hurt you but-"
"Jungkook," Jimin stared at him dead in his doe eyes, "Getting a little roughed up is nothing compared to what we have to face later on," he took Jungkook by the shoulders and winked, "Especially if it's by you."
A light dusting of pink found its way onto the Oak Prince's cheeks, reminded of Jimin's endless charms in the bedroom. He shook his head lightly and bit down hard on his lip, gaining a tsking sound from Jimin.
"Hey now, stop worrying! Here just-" Jimin moved so that Jungkook's arm was wrapped around his waist and another around his neck, "Grab me here and I'll purposely exaggerate how hard you are pulling me. Just walk a little faster than me and face forward..." Jimin brought his lips up to the skin of Jungkook's neck and whispered the next part, "And for Noirwood's sake, please wipe that nervous look off of your face...if anything goes wrong I'll kill them both, okay?"
Jungkook shivered. Whether it was because of the close proximity of Jimin's soft lips on his skin or the mention of murdering soldiers, he didn't know. He nodded a few times and straightened his collar, pulling Jimin outside of the clump of trees they were standing in. After a while they were in sight of the guards. It was their time to act.
"Please! No! I have two children at home!" Jimin suddenly yelled desperately, tugging away from Jungkook's grip, "Where are you taking me!?"
Jungkook had to conceal the surprise he felt at Jimin's realistic acting. The gray-haired male even possessed a great impersonation of a female's voice, pitching it higher and speaking in a less-northern accent. Jungkook was impressed.
"Shut up before I cut off your fingers right here!" Jungkook angrily tugged on Jimin's dress, trying to capture the awful nature of Jihoon's soldiers.
The two watchmen behind their posts watched the event unfolding a little below them. As the pair moved closer to their checkpoint, they climbed down their mini towers and stood guard by the gates. Jungkook noted how they hardly glanced at him. Instead their hungry eyes were glued to Jimin.
And it bothered Jungkook a lot.
"Excuse me sir-" Jungkook coughed, realizing that soldiers weren't that formal in their discourse, "Ehm...uh, I just fucking captured this annoying wench from the town over there," Jungkook nudged his head in the direction they had just come from, "She's an escapee from the Laurel Castle. Jihoon wants all able women up by him at his, uh, fucking base."
"Aw, really?" one of the guards stepped closer to Jimin, black eyes roaming up and down the delicate white dress. Jimin still had a scared look painted across his girly features, and pretended to tremble in Jungkook's arms.
"We can't play with her for a little bittttt?"
Jungkook tried to suppress a snarl as the other guard came over and titled Jimin's chin up with one dirty hand.
"Such a beauty...she would be useful for many things-"
"She's off limits," Jungkook said in a monotone voice, "Jihoon wants her up at his base immediately. However, he didn't tell me the location. He said I could ask the guards at the gate to disclose that information with me."
The guard briefly brought his eyes up to Jungkook before they fell back upon Jimin, "Yeah yeah yeah buddy. You must be a newbie not to know that shit, but we'll let it slide," the other guard rolled his eyes as his counterpart spoke again, "Take the common path up to the Stone Castle, but when you get to the outskirts of the town of Torren, take a left. Keep goin' until the third set of crossroads, then follow the sound of a waterfall. It's a bit past that."
Jungkook listened attentively, copying the directions down word-for-word in his mind. He could feel Jimin tense up under him as if to let him know their work was done.
However, Jimin was tensing for a different reason.
"But..." One of the guards traced his finger along Jimin's bare arm, "Jihoon doesn't have to know if we just, y'know, borrow her for a few minutes, right?"
Jimin whimpered and mumbled "no" and "please" a few times softly for his role.
"Actually-" Jungkook started, only to be interrupted by one of the guards suddenly tearing Jimin out of his arms.
The two guards put the beautiful "girl" in between them and scooted "her" in close. Jimin remained in character, pretending to be scared of the men's close proximity. Jungkook had to restrain himself from breaking character right then.
"Ah...such a pretty girl," one of the guards cooed, playing with the collar of Jimin's dress.
The other guard ran his thumb along Jimin's wrist, laughing as the gray-haired male let out a small whine.
"You'd look so beautiful on your knees right now, dontcha think darlin'?" one guard snickered at the look Jimin's face made then, cringing and attempting to pull away from the pair.
One guard grabbed ahold of Jimin's neck then, pulling "her" close and probably whispering something disgusting in "her" ear. Jungkook stepped forward.
"Listen, Jihoon wanted her ASAP. I'm not about to be late for-"
"I bet what's under that dress is even prettier," the other guard harshly said, Jungkook's existence completely ignored by that point.
"Why don't we see?" the other guard lowered his hand, bringing his palm dangerously close to Jimin's behind. Jimin broke character for a second as he pushed the man's hand away with force.
"What, honey? You don't like that?" the man's voice dripped with lust and a bit of annoyance, "Sorry lady, but I really don't care."
The man reached down and squeezed Jimin's ass with one filthy hand, while the other pulled Jimin against his chest. Jungkook didn't think about his next action until he had already done it. He was seeing too much red in order to stop himself.
They had crossed the line.
Jungkook stepped forward, punching one of the guards in the eye with all of his strength, sending him sprawling across the gravel path. Jungkook then forcefully ripped Jimin off of the man groping his ass and kicked the guy hard in his gut.
Soon, the guard that Jungkook had just given a black eye to was back on his feet, charging at the ravenette with a scowl on his ugly face. Jimin was there in a heartbeat, swiftly twisting around the man and holding him in a headlock to face the Oak Prince.
"Go at him babe," Jimin said in his normal voice, startling the guard under him.
Jungkook rolled his sleeves up and grinned, pummeling the guard's face with his fists. Blood shot from the guy's nose, covering Jungkook's hands in maroon. The second guard from behind him finally lumbered to his feet and took several quick steps towards Jungkook's back.
"Behind you," Jimin exclaimed as he twisted the man's neck underneath him. The man went limp; Jimin had put him out for good.
Jungkook swiveled around and kicked the man between his legs. The man crumpled in front of him, eyes still focused on Jimin with a shocked glow in them.
"You're a f-fucking man?" the guard winced with every word.
Jungkook squatted down so the man was eye level with him, "Actually, he's my fucking man."
And with disgust and anger pulsing through every vein in his body, Jungkook's elbow collided with the man's head, knocking him out instantly. The ravenette sighed and slowly rose, brushing the dust off of his pants. He turned to face Jimin.
"Damn, my boyfriend's really hot when he gets jealous," Jimin smirked, walking up to Jungkook and hugging him from behind. Jimin leaned forward and kissed the side of Jungkook's cheek.
"My boyfriend's really beautiful when he kills a guard in less than a second," Jungkook clucked his tongue as he pecked Jimin's own cheek. Jimin blushed and took Jungkook's hand, jogging back to their horses.
And that was how they had found out the location of Jihoon's base.
After following the directions that the guard had given them, it only took them an hour of fast riding before they came within sight of the waterfall. Jungkook stopped his horse and nodded at Jimin.
"We'll leave our horses here for getaway. If what that guard said was true, the base is very close...remember this part of the plan?" Jungkook hopped off his horse and Jimin did the same.
"Yep. I'm a distraction until you make the signal that you found Taehyung, then I can do my thing...Otherwise I'm to lead them farther away from wherever Taehyung's kept," Jimin repeated back to him proudly.
Jungkook tied their horses to a tree limb and turned to Jimin, "Okay...I- I think we can pull this off, but if we don't-"
Suddenly Jimin lunged forward and pulled Jungkook close to him, smashing their lips together. The ravenette was caught off guard at first, but melted into the kiss after a few seconds. Jimin lovingly stroked the back of Jungkook's head as their lips intertwined, trying to memorize the feeling of the younger's soft feathery hair before they had to separate. Jungkook pulled away first, hand cupping Jimin's soft cheek.
Jimin wiped the red smear of lipstick he had left on Jungkook's upper lip and smiled, "Jungkook, it will be okay. We'll get Taehyung. Don't doubt yourself, alright? We can do this."
"I-" Jungkook started, not breaking eye contact with the elder, "Jimin, I love you so much."
Jimin's eyes widened a bit, not expecting that to come out of the ravenette's mouth. The gray-haired male opened his mouth to say something and then closed it. Jungkook noticed this and blushed, looking away.
Did he speak too soon?
Did Jimin not love him back?
Jungkook was looking down at his feet, eyes roaming the dead leaves under his feet, confused by Jimin's reaction. Trying to save his own pride, he lifted his chin up and ran a hand through his hair. When he finally worked up the courage to make eye contact with Jimin, the gray-haired male was staring at him, eyes tearing up.
"J-Jimin, what's wrong...?" Jungkook walked over to Jimin and wiped at stray tear, "I-I'm sorry if you don't-"
"I LOVE YOU SO FUCKING MUCH JEON JUNGKOOK!" Jimin cried out, burying himself into Jungkook's chest, "It's just that...I've never heard those words spoken towards me before, and they just mean s-so much to me..." Jimin pulled Jungkook closer to him.
Jungkook blinked his eyes a few times, not registering the words Jimin had just said back to him. After Jimin titled his up head to look into his eyes, Jungkook gave him a huge bunny smile. Jungkook felt as if he was on top of the world. On cloud nine. Jimin loved him back. The ravenette opened his mouth again, wanting to hear the words one more time before they left.
"I love you Jimin."
Jimin smiled.
"I love you Jungkook."
Then without saying anything else, the two left hand in hand to get back their missing piece.
Laurel Prince
"...I'm not sure, that ass Jeon should be here pretty soon."
Taehyung opened his finally conscious eyes to the sound of guards chatting underneath him.
Wait, underneath him?
Taehyung opened his eyes all the way, desperately scanning his surroundings. He was still tightly bound hand and foot; a gag was still painfully digging into his mouth, except-
He was in the air.
With more swivels of the head, Taehyung realized he was literally strung up like an animal. His numb arms were pulled high above his head, feet bound tightly at the ankle. Some kind of pole was at his back, to which both of the ropes were tied. The pole itself was upright, attached to the rope of a pulley that was tied to the base of the large tree he was dangling from. Every time the wind blew, he would slowly rotate, turning around in a circle to view each side of Jihoon's base. It was a large low set compound in the middle of some trees; half of it was underground, Taehyung figured. A long path stretched from the front of the compound to the heavily reinforced front gate, which Taehyung could just barely see from where he was at. He was somewhere in the middle between the compound and the front gate, swinging a few meters above the ground under a tall tree.
He suddenly became aware of the burning sensation on several patches of his skin, in every place where he had been cut. He looked down at himself with drooping eyelids and a quick heartbeat. His clothes were torn, hardly hanging onto his battered body. Drips of blood tickled different parts of his body as they oozed from his new wounds. He groaned under his gag loudly as the wind spun him in a circle, making him slightly dizzy. He was already light-headed from the height and thirsty from the lack of water. Spinning made him disoriented; he thought he might vomit.
But with a gag on-
He closed his eyes, willing the nausea out of his stomach.
After a few minutes of him picturing himself back at the Oak Castle with his fellow princes, the level of activity below him intensified. He peeped a eye open and tilted his head down to see what was happening.
"Fuck, I want to see that girl," one guard said, deserting his spot on Taehyung's lower right.
The other nine guards looked around at each other and back up at Taehyung's body on display. A few nodded and followed after the guard that had just left, mumbling things like "he can't go anywhere anyway" or "what the hell."
In the distance, Taehyung could see a large crowd at the front gate, pushing each other around to catch a glimpse of something.
What was that?
No, who was that?
Taehyung squinted his eyes to try and make out the center of attention and furrowed his brows when he saw a woman in a white dress.
Really. Jihoon's men were such pigs.
Taehyung scoffed under his gag as three more soldiers abandoned their posts to see what the ruckus was about. The woman was hopping back and forth as if performing some kind of dance. Every soldier was entranced by the sway of her white dress.
He closed his eyes again, too fatigued to pay much attention to the show put on by that random woman. All of the aching in his bones was enough of a distraction for him anyway, so he focused on that.
Until...
"Who are you? I haven't seen your face 'round here...but why do I feel like I know you? Were you even assigned to guard the prince?"
A few seconds of silence. Then-
"Jihoon assigned me here. I'm one of his spies, that's why you might recognize me," A familar voice floated its way up to Taehyung swaying in the tree. He couldn't help but notice the fact that it was laced with anger and pain.
Taehyung fluttered his eyelids open. He couldn't see the faces of the people underneath him, he could only see the tops of the soldier's caps.
But he knew who had just spoke. And it gave him a burst of hope in his gut.
Taehyung shouted from under his gag, flailing wildly to see if he could get them to look up. He needed, needed to see Jungkook's face.
"Shut up, blondie," one guard picked up a stone off of the floor and chucked it hard at Taehyung's chest, making him groan.
However, this little occurrence made all five of the guards glance up. Taehyung peered into each of their upturned faces, scanning for Jungkook's. When he had scanned all but one, their heads fell back down. The face that he didn't get a glimpse of must've been Jungkook's. He was the one farthest from the tree, clenching his fists tightly.
Please, Jungkook. Don't do anything stupid.
Wait a second...
Where was Jimin?
"Now...that's not necessary," Taehyung watched as the ravenette stepped towards the others, hand on his sword. His voice was deep with rage, and Taehyung knew it was only seconds before Jungkook would make a fatal mistake.
The other guards stared at the Oak Prince, confused at why one of their own would act like that. Jungkook slowly pulled his sword out in one hand. He pulled his pocket watch out with the other hand.
What was he doing?
With a flick of the wrist, Jungkook tapped the edge of his sword against the metal of his sturdy pocket watch, creating three long metallic clinks that echoed in the still air. The guards underneath Taehyung all cringed at the noise, putting their palms up to their ears.
"What the fuck was that for?" An angry guard lunged at the ravenette. Jungkook didn't budge. His sword was still out.
Then the screaming started.
Taehyung felt a cold wave of fear pass through him. What was that screaming? The blonde craned his neck to find the source of the screaming, which happened to be near the front gates of Jihoon's base. He squinted and blinked a few times, not believing what he was seeing.
In front of the gates, with a sword in one hand and dress ruffling in the action, the woman from before was swinging a sword gracefully at the guards around her. Taehyung's eyes grew as the silver-haired girl dodged the many blows from the other men and decapitated several of the men.
Only in matter of seconds.
The guards below him became alarmed at the screams, looking between each other's unsure faces; a question hung in the air.
Should they go or should they stay?
To break the silence, Jungkook's voice rose up to meet Taehyung's ears. What the ravenette said next gave Taehyung a bit of hope.
"Why don't you guys go check out what that noise is? I can guard the prince by myself. Jihoon personally picked me as a new guard...to, uh, stop those two princes when they show up. It kind of sounds like they already did, guessing from the sound of those screams..." Jungkook moved closer to the pulley, hand on his sword.
More gargled yelling and cries for help rang out in the distance. Taehyung would've smiled, if his gag wasn't choking him.
"No," one of the guards rebuked, "At least two of us have to stay here with you. We can't have this guy left alone for too long. He's a troublemaker," the man frowned up at Taehyung and spit on the ground.
"Alright," the disappointment in the ravenette's voice was palpable, "But you better hurry. Sounds like a war over there."
A high pitched shrill along with the sound of swords clanking resonated off of the walls of Jihoon's base. The guards grunted as they jogged away, leaving Jungkook alone with two other guards.
Taehyung wiggled around desperately, wanting to distract the two so Jungkook could stand a chance against them. The blonde knew that the Oak Prince was capable of taking out others if he needed to, but out of the three princes he was the weakest fighter. He screamed for ten seconds straight before one of the guards finally looked up.
"You better shut the fuck up, Laurel before I-"
But the man couldn't finish his statement. Jungkook's sword had pierced through the man's stomach. As the other guard came to his senses, Jungkook pulled the sword out of the first man and whipped around. The other guard was fast though, holding up his own sword to parry the attack. Taehyung pulled at his restraints, screaming out of real fear this time.
"Jujnggggkkookkkkdfdjj," Taehyung tried as a blast of wind blew up by the tree.
Taehyung's body turned slowly away from the two fighting. He panicked as the ravenette left his field of vision for a few seconds. He whipped his head around in anguish, trying to find the pair. All he could hear were swords clashing against each other.
Please, Jungkook. You can do this.
Then, a muffled groan. The blonde couldn't tell if it was the man or Jungkook.
Please. Please. Please.
When his bound up body finally spun around with another gust of wind, he saw one person lying face down in a pile of blood. Another soldier was kneeling down under the tree, panting, several cuts lining the arms of his outfit. Taehyung breath caught. He couldn't tell if it was the Oak Prince or not. His skin was bubbling with nerves, the temperature felt as if it was suddenly below zero, his vision started shaking.
"JJJJUuunngngkkookkgkgk!!!" Taehyung cried out as a last chance.
Please look up.
The man lumbered over to the pulley, reaching his arm out.
Jungkook, please. Is that you?
The man grabbed hold of the rope that was knotted to the base of the tree. Using his sword, he undid the knot and took up the extra rope.
That has to be Jungkook.
Slowly, and with deliberate care, the soldier lowered Taehyung down from his air jail. As the blonde lowered, he happened to spin away from the man letting him down. He desperately jerked his body around, wanting to see the face of the man who was helping him.
Lower. Lower. Lower.
Finally, his bound feet hit the earth. With no arms to catch him, the blonde fell flat onto his stomach, face smashing into the dirt. He whined as the pain of his cuts forced their way into the front of his mind.
Then, a shadow passed over him. Someone was standing behind him. In the next few seconds, the person cut the ropes off of Taehyung's limp arms and legs. However, he couldn't move them at all. Both sides of his body were completely numb, plus he was too fatigued to consider trying to get up on his own.
"JUujngggkkooekjkkkk!!" Taehyung tried again, beads of water forming at the base of his eyelids. The gag was pressing against his tongue, dried blood staining the cloth to a dirty pinkish shade.
Then the tension in the cloth around his neck and mouth loosened as it was cut off. Taehyung couldn't even bring his arms down to remove the cloth and whined until the soldier finally rolled him onto his stomach. Taehyung's eyes adjusted to the bright light of the sunset and got a look at the man who was bent over him.
And Taehyung just about died.
The soldier removed the gag from his mouth and tossed it angrily to the side. The man's hands wrapped around Taehyung's midsection, pulling the blonde up to a sitting position. The agony of his wounds made the blonde groan slightly, which caused the man's frown to deepen.
The screams still continued in the distance, but they had died down a little.
Taehyung coughed as he tried to say something for the first time. He tried to pull his arms up and even tried to smile.
But he had been through so much that when Jungkook's tear streaked face leaned in to his own, all he could do was blink back.
"TAEHYUNG! OH T-TAEHYUNG I GOT YOU NOW D-DON'T WORRY I GOT YOU PLEASE I WON'T LEAVE YOU WE- JIMIN IS HERE, WE GOT YOU OKAY? ALRIGHT? DON'T WORRY, CAN YOU HEAR ME? TAEHYUNG WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU?" the ravenette was frantic, excited, angry, and sad all at once.
Fatigue struck Taehyung as he semi-consciously registered Jungkook's words. The blood loss from before and the shock at being rescued caused the blonde to space out a bit.
Taehyung tried to open his mouth to say something, but all that came out were two words.
"Jungkookkk. Jiminnn," his eyelids fluttered open and shut, head bobbing. He was on the brink of blacking out.
The Oak Prince pulled him in close then, whipping his head around to check if there were any guards nearby. The next thing Taehyung knew, he was being lifted up and thrown over the ravenette's shoulder. The blonde tried his hardest to stay alert, focusing on the way the grass looked as he was transported quickly towards the entrance.
Towards the source of the screams. Taehyung panicked a little on the inside, not wanting to face that girl...
"Jj-jjunnggkoo-" he mumbled in a daze.
"JUST HANG IN THERE TAEHYUNG, WE'RE ALMOST TO JIMIN!" Jungkook shouted as he leapt over rocks and avoided things on the path.
Finally, the ravenette slowed to a walk, exiting the large gate of Jihoon's base and panting heavily. It was eerily quiet compared to what had been lots of screaming only moments ago.
With his remaining strength, the blonde lifted his head up to see what had happened by the front gates.
What the-
Piled up in orderly lines near the gate walls were dozens of bodies, seated in awkward positions with their legs and arms all twisted up. The soldiers' uniforms were soaked through with blood; the entire pathway leading out of the compound was splashed by careless splotches of maroon.
"Jungkook! You have him!! Taehyung!!" A second familiar voice met Taehyung's cotton-filled ears.
The Stone Prince. Jimin.
"Jiimmii-" Taehyung rasped out, turning his head around even more to find the source of the voice.
And what he saw was the same woman from before, except every single inch of her was covered in thick mats of blood. Her dress was torn in more places than could be counted, hardly clinging onto her body. She was barefoot and her silver hair was sticking up like wild.
That's when it clicked for Taehyung.
The disguises.
The dead bodies.
Jimin had single-handedly decapitated over 40 of Jihoon's guards dressed as a female. Taehyung wanted to laugh at the situation, but everything on or inside of him hurt too much to do anything. He only blinked a few times as Jimin walked towards him, tears spilling down his blood-covered face.
"T-Taehyung...what did they...do to you?" Jimin reached out to push Taehyung's hair out of his face and frowned, "It's okay now though. We got you. We got you. Fucking god...we got you."
Jimin broke down then, sobbing and clutching tightly onto Taehyung's limp hand. Jungkook shook underneath him, sobs wracking his chest as well.
Only a few seconds later, angry outcries were heard from inside the gate. Jungkook glanced up at Jimin and opened his mouth.
"We have to go now. Can you help me carry him?" Jungkook shifted Taehyung's body around so that he was being carried across both of their shoulders. Taehyung groaned as his wounds pressed into the princes' backs.
Jungkook let out a puff of air before the pair started running towards a waterfall not too far from the base. The rage in his voice was clear as he spoke his next words.
"It's alright Taehyung. We'll make sure that asshole gets what he deserves for doing this to you."
"Yeah," Jimin chimed in, voice still tear-stricken, "We don't let people mess with those we love."
Taehyung's heart leapt at the word.
Love?
Love...?
Taehyung opened his mouth to reply to the pair, but all he could get out was a hiss of air between his teeth. His eyes suddenly drooped shut and his body became heavy.
Was he even breathing?
The last thing he remembered as he bounced against Jungkook and Jimin's shoulders were a few words from the ravenette.
"Taehyung. Taehyung! Please stay conscious! I love you please fucking god, please stay
a w a k e........."
