Y/N POV

According to V, Urizen was an extremely powerful demon. Who from what I could gather, had supposedly risen to claim the demon throne. With Mundus' whereabouts unknown, that spot had been open for the taking, the fact that he had succeeded definitely was a testament to how powerful he was.

Urizen resided inside of a demonic tree known as the Qliphoth which he had somehow sprouted right here in the Human world. I will admit, I was kind of surprised that we didn't find out sooner and that it took V personally seeking us out for it to be brought to our attention.

V also informed us that for one reason or another, Urizen had already gone after Nero and severed his demonic arm, I hadn't seen much of him since the Fortuna incident but I had a hunch he would return soon.

I still didn't trust V in the slightest, however the importance of this particular job was certainly present so putting my personal thoughts aside, we all agreed to it. Morrison also agreed to look after S/N in mine and Lady's absence so I didn't need to stress about that.

Trish arrived shortly after and we filled her in on the score. With everyone present, there was no use standing around so we all headed out towards where this Qliphoth had emerged mere hours ago.

Timeskip, some time later...

It didn't take us long for us to arrive and breech the Qliphoth. The interior was just what you'd expect from a demonic tree, grotesque plant-like vines all over the place. Not long after we arrived inside, we heard a loud roar somewhere in the distance which I only assumed came from Urizen himself, so it seemed we didn't exactly have the element of surprise here and demonic opposition was certainly to be expected.

We pressed on though, deeper into the demon hive. One thing that was certainly standing out to me was the smell. The entire place gave off a foul stench which I suppose you'd come to expect from e demon abode like this, it's strange that I'd never smelt it any demonic place I'd been before.

Lady was the first to address this as she commented "Oh, it stinks in here." Dante replied "I know, smells like hot garbage." I nodded before adding "You said it. Foul is the only word I can think of to describe it."

Behind us, V came to an abrupt stop quietly saying "This is far worse than I thought." We all turned to look at him, I narrowed my eyes slightly as Dante said "There's no crime in turning tail, V. These things might be a little too much for you."

Surprisingly V simply replied by saying "You're right, I'll leave the rest to you." He turned and walked away, behind his was his strange familiar, a black spectral bird that after we'd set off, accompanied us up to this point. It somewhat reminded me of the Griffon me and Dante fought in Mundus' castle and made my distrust for V increase even more.

Said familiar commented on V's actions saying "W-what? Whoa, my my V. All the way down here and turnin' tail really?" To that V replied "One must always have an insurance policy." As he walked away, we all just stared at him somewhat dumbfounded by his sudden U-turn.

Lady asked "Who was that guy? Can't believe he just ran." I replied "That, is our brave employer for you." Dante then said "No one special. C'mon, let's go clean up this garbage." We turned to continue down the dark path.

Trish suddenly broke out into a run, she turned to us and grinned, saying "First come first serve on the target right?" Lady ran after her adding "Music to my ears hurry up boys." Both of them ran off ahead, I was about to follow however I then heard Dante comment "Guess I get to see it with my own eyes. If it really is you."

I turned to him in confusion and asked "What do you mean?" Dante asked in return "Did you get a familiar feeling from V?" I nodded and said "Now that you mention it, yeah. But I couldn't fully place my finger on it." Dante went on to explain "I have a theory, when we finally find this Urizen, see if you get similar vibes from him as well."

I nodded before turning back down the path and yelling "Save some for me girls!" I took off down the plant-like path after Lady and Trish, in the time we'd been talking, they'd only got a short distance ahead of us.

And by following said path, it didn't take us long to come to a more open area where we met our first wave of opposition in the form of an entirely new demon I'd not seen before until now. They had an insect-like appearance however other than that, they weren't all that tough-looking.

I wasted no time drawing Eclipse and since these demons were airborne, I leapt upwards and landed two slashes which quickly killed the first of them. Next I spun around and drove my blade into the others chest, as I did so, purple briefly laced my vision however before I could notice properly, it disappeared along with the demon's remains.

From there it didn't take me long to dispose of the remaining two demons just as Dante ran into the clearing. In the distance we heard Trish yelling "Come on you two! You're missing out on all the fun!"

I grinned, saying "You heard her, try not to fall too far behind now." I saluted faintly before turning and running off down the narrowing path. It didn't take me long from there for me to reach yet another open area where as you'd expect, I encountered yet another demon.

This one was far larger than the others and wielded two cleavers which it instantly began swinging about randomly causing me to go on the defensive at first.

After dodging a series of attacks, I swapped to Light and Dark, raising both weapons to defend myself. I blocked both the demons attacks before kicking it in the chest, causing it to stagger backwards.

I swapped the grenade launcher and fired a round into its chest before finally going to Eclipse. The demon actually recovered as I dashed forward and went in for a slash attack from one of its cleavers, however I was much faster.

I performed a slash attack that sliced right into the demons chest. I then went on to perform a barrage of repeated slashed over and over, causing the demon to rag doll about. It was clearly a durable demon as it took several hits before I was finally able to cut right through its waist. The demon fell apart and disappeared once it hit the ground.

From there I was once again free to continue, of course I met more opposition, but as you saw from my earlier two demonstrations, I was more than capable of dispatching them without trouble. 

Dante wasn't that far behind me as we followed Trish and Lady along the passage, all seemed to be going fine at first, we kept on heading through before we reached another large room, I got through without any trouble however it was here that me and Dante were separated.

One of those red barriers appeared, though while it was BEHIND me, making it not a problem, Dante was left trapped until he dealt with whatever demons attacked. There was no use me waiting around or trying to break the barrier so I just called "I'll head on Dante, I promise I won't rob you of ALL the fun."

Dante muttered a quick "Yeah yeah." As I headed even further into the unknown. It was a surprisingly long trek however after what felt like an eternity, I arrived at what I assumed was a large door. On the other side I could clearly hear a battle raging, Lady and Trish must have found something.

I pushed the door open and was met with a battle, sure enough I saw Lady and Trish fighting a huge demon who seemed to be sat on a throne. They railed on him with everything they had however this strange crystal blocked every attack they made. Judging by this futile effort, I assumed that this huge demon was Urizen, the one V warned us about.

In an act that could either be considered brave or idiotic depending on how you looked at. I raised my grenade launcher and fired a round towards Urizen, sure enough that crystal appeared and blocked it however I did end up getting his attention.

The demon whom I assumed was Urizen slowly looked up from his initially bored stance, noticed me and spoke in a distorted tone. He only said a single word, and that was my name, spoken in a tone that held a mixture of interest but also disinterest at the same time. He seemed interested to see me, but also disinterested that I'd showed up here. Which was strange since we'd never met before now.

"Y/N." Was all he said at first. If only I'd have known of the nightmare that would unfold...

I'm also kind of anxious since I have something BIG planned soon which will shape Y/N's role in the coming chapters and I'm not sure how that will play out.
