Y/N POV

I don't know why, but there was something about this facility that made me feel on edge. Particularly in that observation room something about the blue containment field bothered me, it gave me a chill that I had only really felt once before...

Aside from that though, there appeared to be nothing important of note here. There was a small blood splatter on the wall right next to the door heading outside, the origin of which I couldn't quite tell whether it was human or demon.

I sighed and said "There's nothing here." Lady turned to me and replied "Yeah, but why do you think Trish advised us to come down here if there was nothing?" I added "I'm not sure. Perhaps she found something out and thought we'd be able to learn about it as well?"

To this Lady shrugged and said "Maybe, I don't know why she couldn't just tell you." I suggested "Perhaps what she found was too abstract, we'd need to see proof with our own eyes to believe her." Lady simply said "Yeah, possibly."

My attention then shifted to the only door in the observation room before I said. "Come on, there's nothing here in here. Maybe we'll find something somewhere else." Lady nodded and replied "Sounds good to me." We then both made our way out of the door.

We found ourselves on a large balcony overlooking a long river. It was still snowing lightly as we stepped out, allowing the door to close behind us. We looked around for a moment before I noticed something of interest.

A large metallic drawbridge was extended over chasm, connecting to a cave on the opposite side. Lady noticed it as well and stated "Huh, that's strange, earlier I'm pretty sure there was a waterfall covering that cave and no sign of the bridge.

I asked "So, you think that may lead somewhere?" Lady replied "It's worth a look. But how do we get up there?" I answered "I think it's best we take these stairs here." I pointed to a flight of stairs to which Lady just nodded and said "Okay."

We followed the stairs up until we arrived at another door. Turning to Lady we nodded at one another before readying our weapons, Eclipse and Kalina Ann respectively,  opening the door and stepping back into the castle.

Looking around, it seemed we had arrived in another scientific facility of sorts. This one was much larger than the small observation room we were in earlier. Before we could figure out more though we both heard a voice that while stuttering still held a sinister tone to it. "Well well, o-our uninvited guests have finally m-made it."

Both me and Lady snapped up to the source of the voice. On a walkway above us was a man. His most defining feature was his messy deadlocked hair, his monocle and the bright white attire that meant he was clearly part of the Order of the Sword. 

I asked "And who are you supposed to be?" Lady aimed Kalina Ann at the man as he gave a theatrical bow, introducing himself "I am Agnus, alchemist and chief technology researcher for the Order of the Sword." He grinned and I couldn't help but scowl.

His eyes then narrowed as he stammered out "And you, w-what are y-you doing here?! Who a-are YOU!" His voice raised into an almost screeching tone as he asked this. Me and Lady shared a confused look, unsure whether or not we should take this guy seriously.

Turning back to him though I bluntly replied "Who I am doesn't matter. I-." Before I could finish, Agnus abruptly yelled "A-answer my question! I-I will not stand for your i-insolence!" Lady cut him off, saying "Put a cork in it, you're giving me a headache."

Agnus' eyes suddenly widened when he noticed Eclipse in my had "I-it's you! You're the one who defeated C-Credo! I-I recognize the sword. I s-should thank you for that t-though. Credo n-needed to be take down a p-peg or two."

I will admit Lady was right, this guy was really beginning to get on my nerves so I snapped "You can thank me by answering me this question. What is the Order of the Sword planning? Are they related to the demon attacks that are happening as of late?"

Strangely enough, Agnus just laughed. It started quietly however it soon escalated to full on fits of it. "HahahahahAHAHAHAHA!" He regained himself before saying "I-it would be much better for me just to show you."

He pulled out a remote of sorts and pushed a button. Several doors opened all around us and figures clad in white and blue armour stepped out. Each one stood at attention, equipped with a shield and a lance.

I asked "What are these?" Agnus chuckled menacingly before explaining "Crafted from the f-fragments of Mundus' strongest enforcer Nelo Angelo, I present to y-you the new face of the Order of the S-Sword."

My next question was "And what is the point of these constructs? How did you give them sentience?" A sickeningly sadistic grin appeared as he continued his explanation "I used the only thing capable of giving life. The soul, souls of humans and demons alike, given new purpose. They get to live on as the d-dashing white knights of the Order!" He proclaimed the last part openly.

Me and Lady stared at him in disgust. He just stared back and finished up "Can you i-imagine the sheer JOY on p-people's faces when these white k-knights descend from o-on high to put an end to the d-demon menace?! I-it will be g-glorious."

The pieces were beginning to finally connect in my head. Between the Order, the demons and now these knights. I asked "So tell me, is the Order responsible for the demons attacks? You allowed them to invade so the Order could swoop in, save the day and be hailed as heroes?"

Agnus beamed at me and exclaimed "G-got it in one! Unfortunately, t-there was a minor hindrance. B-but once Nero has b-been captured and Yamato is o-once again in our  possession, t-then we will be b-back on schedule."

At the mention of Yamato, my eyes widened. I hadn't seen it or heard from it since the Temen-Ni-Gru! Even when I saw Vergil in Mundus' castle, he didn't have his sword with him! How had the Order come into possession of it?! And even more concerning, how did this Nero come to wield it!

I asked "Did you say Yamato?" Agnus nodded and answered "Y-yes but I've already said too much. I-I'd best be off. But don't worry, I'll leave you with these k-knights as a little gift." Just like that the knights all got into combat stances.

Agnus' body glowed a bright light and once said light had died down. His body had completely changed. It looked insect-like in nature, he hovered off the ground with flittering wings.

His voice sounded distorted now as he proclaimed "B-behold! The results of the Ascension Ceremony! Farewell devil hunters, I trust we won't meet again!" With that he flew upwards, raced towards us, however instead of attacking, he flew right past us and out of the door, escaping into the snow.

I wasn't given the chance to pursue, because as soon as Agnus was gone, one of the knights dashed forward, attempting to stab at Lady with its lance. I easily intercepted though, using Eclipse to block its attack.

With my other hand I drew my Grenade Launcher and tried firing it at one of the other knights. It blocked the explosion with its shield though. Me and Lady stood back to back as the five knights surrounded us in a circular formation.

We shared a nod as I asked "You ready?" Lady smiled and replied "Ready as I'll ever be." And just like that we attacked. The knight I targeted first was just about able to defend itself with its shield however that didn't do much to protect it as I aimed my grenade launcher up and fired a round directly at its chest.

The knight was knocked back into the wall and broke into the individual pieces of armour. It seems my theory was right, they were nothing more than empty shells. I smirked at this and instantly turned to the second knight.

I went in with Eclipse. I went in for a slash however the knight defended with its shield, I stepped back and fired my grenade launcher at the shield. It actually withstood a few rounds before finally breaking away and this time I rushed in again.

The knight attempted to stab at me however I dodged it, it also attempted to swipe at me with the lance however I avoided that as well and swiftly bright my sword across its neck area, knocking the helmet off and causing it to fall to the ground as well.

The third one seemed to put up much more of a fight. First it defended with its shield however instead of remaining in that position and allowing me to break through the shield. No, this one used some form of jet to take to the sky.

It then dashed towards me with its land out in front of it. I was barely able to evade the attack and managed to slip in a quick strike to its back with Eclipse. It spun around though and went in for another light stab.

I blocked that attack and we briefly traded blows before once again, it took to the sky and attempted to charge at me with its lance. This time though, I intended to end things right here and now.

Just as it was about to approach, I dashed forward, Eclipse in hand and slashed directly through the knight's torso! It fell to the ground just as Lady had finished up killing the other two knights. I will admit, I was somewhat disappointed, especially with how much Agnus hyped them up.

Me and Lady looked at one another, no words were spoken. We knew what the Order's plan was. But there was still another task that needed doing.

I needed to track down this Nero and see if he did hold Vergil's sword Yamato!
