(Okay so I still don't know if I want to cover the DMC anime in this book or whether I go straight onto DMC2. After this chapter, I'm going to go back and work on my Resident Evil book while I watch the series and if anything interesting happens in it, I'll include it but if I feel that it would just be irrelevant and filler, then I'll skip straight to DMC2 which despite being a shorter segment, will still have a semi-important role on the book as a whole.)

Y/N POV

I remained knelt by Trish's body for what felt like hours. I don't know how long it was, but I just kept kneeling, waiting and silently hoping that somehow, Dante would be able to overpower Mundus so we could all escape here.

Suddenly, my silent prays were answered when Dante once again materialised in the large room. I stood up saying "Dante, did you-?" He nodded silently at my question before approaching Trish and kneeling down at her side.

He picked her up and just stared at her for a moment, I stood silently off to the side, watching as Dante said sadly. "My mother risked her life for me. And now you too. I should have saved you." He then yelled "I SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ONE TO FILL YOUR DARK SOUL WITH LIGHT!" 

A stray tear left Dante's eye and fell onto Trish's face before he slowly put her body down on the ground. He then gently took his mother's amulet and placed it on top of her before standing up and saying "This was my mother's now I'm giving it to you."

He then drew the sword Sparda, stabbing it into the ground next to her "My father's also here now. Rest in piece." It was at this point that I realized Trish was dead. Despite barely interacting with her, I felt saddened by her passing.

The moment was interrupted when the ground began to shake as rubble fell from the ceiling. I looked around before saying "I hate to ruin the moment, but we need to get out of here NOW!" Dante just gave me a confirming nod before we both fled the scene, leaving Trish with the sword.

We backtracked quickly through the gruesome demonic world, cutting down any demons that were in our path without hesitation. There was no time for long, drawn-out battles now. Escape was our primary concern.

We eventually arrived at the portal that would return us to the human world, or at least the mirrored version of it. After that, it was a matter of stepping on an elevated platform that took us back to the real world.

From there, it was just a matter of even more backtracking, heading through the same castle halls we had been through when we arrived here. Naturally here we just found Marionettes which were cut down in a matter of seconds.

As we were running through one room though, the floor crumbled from under us, causing us both to fall down as we looked around, a giant portal formed. We turned to face it, both of us glaring as Mundus emerged letting out an almighty roar!

He spoke up "The gate has been opened. You are not getting away. This is where you will both die." Dante yelled "I'm not going anywhere! Besides, there's no place to go! This'll be your burial ground as well!" I yelled "Indeed, don't forget, you owe me a special debt Mundus!"

I drew Eclipse and instantly entered my Devil Trigger. It was obvious that Mundus was weakened from his previous fight with Dante because I was able to leap forward and land a powerful slash to Mundus face, causing him to tilt his head back from the blow's force. 

Dante, also in Devil Trigger, also leapt upwards Mundus and together, we conducted an onslaught of attacks directly to him. Since his battle with Dante, some of the stone off his body had crumbled away, leaving a vulnerable lava-like substance underneath.

Mundus attempted to attack by striking at me with his arm however at this point I was able to dodge his attack. He also tried firing green lasers from his forehead, making a combination of his earlier attacks as well as the lasers used by Nightmare.

I will admit, Mundus was actually quite easy, I guess this had something to do with his injuries. He did managed to slap me into a wall however I soon recovered and I was back at it again even though my devil trigger had worn off by this point.

Both me and Dante leapt back and drew our handguns, opening fire and shooting relentlessly into Mundus' face, the more damage he took, the more his body crumbled away revealing weak points and presumably weakening his strength as well.

He retaliated to our projectiles by firing eye beams which we dodged and it was at this point that I heard him exclaim to me "Y/N! You do not know the evil that lurks within your sword. If you knew then you wouldn't use it so willingly!" I smirked and said "I'm completely in control of Eclipse, besides, why should I believe you?" Mundus didn't reply.

Instead, he just continued trying to swat at us like insects while we both just dodged with next to no issue. Slashing away with Alastor and Eclipse respectively, occasionally ducking back and shooting at him with our handguns.

Things seemed to be going well however that changed when Mundus shot another beam out of his forehead. I raised Eclipse to block it and at first, I thought I'd have no problem doing so, however the intensity of the blast just increased and I was having trouble keeping up my defence.

Eventually, I couldn't keep it up any more and the blast sent me crashing into the back wall, of course since this one was much weaker than the first one so I wasn't nearly as badly damaged. I quickly got up to my feet.

Me and Dante kept our onslaught up, getting closer and closer to defeating Mundus by the second until eventually, we stood opposite him, catching our breath. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn't defeat Mundus and he knew this.

"What is the matter? Here your powers are weak, HUMAN!" I growled angrily before hearing a familiar voice in the back of my mind. "Y/N, keep strong, you can do this." I recognized the voice of my MOTHER and judging by Dante's reaction, I assumed his was reaching out for him as well.

Suddenly there was a flash and we turned around to see Trish standing behind us! She quickly yelled "Dante, Y/N, use my power!" She shot lightning towards us and the energy enshrouded our bodies. 

Turning back to Mundus, we both raised our firearms as Trish commented "Looks like we have our winners." Dante asked "You ready?" I nodded as we both aimed at Mundus and yelled in unison "JACKPOT!" Using Trish's power, we fired our shots directly into Mundus' face!

There was a massive explosion as Mundus was now being forced back into the portal. As he disappeared we heard him calling "DANTE! Y/N! I WILL RETURN!" I snapped back "And when that happens, it will be too soon." Dante added "When you do come back, give my regards to my son will ya?"

With that the portal closed. Mundus was trapped! For now...

Dante turned to Trish and the two ran into each other's arms. As they pulled back, Trish's eyes were wet with tears Dante consoled her with the same words he told Lady years ago. "Trish, devils never cry. These tears, tears are a gift only humans have."

We looked around and we were trapped within the sewers, Trish exclaimed "We're too late!" Dante replied by saying "No, Trish. It's never too late." And he was right, because almost straight away, that old plane we found shortly after arriving crashed in front of us, leading to Dante saying "And we humans, never give up, are you ready?"

Trish replied "Yes." I added "Let's get out of here. Before we're all buried." With that we climbed onto the plane, there were only two seats so I climbed onto one of the wings and held on as we took off. Dante yelled "Let's rock!"

The plane flew through a tunnel, dodging numerous obstacles in the process, until we finally came out the other end, successfully leaving Mallet island behind just in time for it to explode in a purple inferno.

As we flew through the air, Trish commented "The sky! So clear! So blue!" I agreed and said "Indeed, magnificent." Dante added "The sky is fair, and it will always be above everyone's head, no different!" Again, I nodded in agreement.

I pointed out. "Let's not forget, though, the Underworld's evil is still alive. They will someday return!" Trish assured us though ""There's no need to worry, right? Because the world has the Legendary Dark Knight Dante, his brother Y/N, and their sidekick!"

I chuckled lightly. It would seem things were looking up. Though Mundus' return was the least of our worries, as their were was far more things to come...

I don't know what the next segment of this story will be, either the DMC anime or DMC2, regardless, I do hope you like them, I'll write a summary discussing something as well and I will confirm which I'm doing in that.
