(I feel that I should mention that Y/N views Dante and Vergil's rivalry as petty, he will only ever interfere if he feels that Vergil's goal may physically endanger the world. Also the fight with Arkham is later on in this chapter since this is a longer one.)

Y/N POV

Leaving the chessboard room, we soon found ourselves in another strange plane of existence. This one contained several strange staircases, there were multiple stone tablets here as well, each one containing a different creature and had a different glow. 

I stepped towards one in particular that looked familiar, it was that Geryon that I encountered earlier in the tower. I heard Dante suddenly call me "Hey Y/N! Come and look at this!" I turned and saw him stood by another tablet, this one had lights on it.

Dante pointed out "Look at the lights on each tablet. They match the holes on this one here." I looked around, he was right, turning back to him I replied "Then I assume all we need to use each of these tablets to activate the way forward."

With that, we both split up and went over to one of the many tablets, went back to the familiar Geryon one from earlier and placed my hand upon the tablet. In an instant I was whisked away by some sort of force until I found myself standing in a familiar arena.

Turning around, sure enough, I was met once again with the Geryon. Naturally I engaged it in battle and thanks to my own Quicksilver abilities, the fight was far easier that it had been in our first encounter.

It didn't take long for me to best the creature a second time and soon a small pillar of light appeared in the centre of the arena. Stepping into the pillar it transported me back to that ethereal realm I was in before, it was here that I noticed a blue orb appear on the large tablet in the centre.

Timeskip...

Both me and Dante repeated this motion, going into one of the individual tablets and slaying the demon housed within, apparently each of these except for the Geryon were creatures Dante had encountered earlier.

Nevertheless, slaying all of these creatures FINALLY opened up the next gate which we entered. This in turn lead us to an entirely different area. Here the sky was permanently dark, there were ruined stone structures dotting the landscape.

Looking down at the floor I was shocked at first to see that it was entirely made up of BLOOD! I turned to Dante and said "Now this is what I expected from the Demon world." Dante chuckled at my comment.

Abruptly though, a demon sprung from the blood beneath us. I drew Eclipse and slashed at it quickly, causing it to fall to the ground. As it bounced back to its feet, several more appeared until we were surrounded by at least six of them.

Me and Dante stood back to back, staring at each of the demons. We the dashed outward, taking on the Demons before us one at a time. I stabbed one before jumping upwards and slashing through another, I then pulled out Cinder to gun the third one down even quicker.

Dante disposed of his demons quickly as well and as we had come to expect, another gateway opened up leading us to the next area. Going through this one lead us to some sort of strange room full of mirrors.

We encountered more demons here and at first they seemed invincible however we dealt with them relatively quickly once discovering that all we needed to do was destroy the mirrors around us. Again, another gateway appeared afterwards.

There was another room though this one was of no consequence, instead we just ran right on through after disposing of some more of those red demons. The gateway here though seemed to backtrack as we ended up in that large white room with the tablets.

We followed that pattern of rooms again until we eventually reached the mirror room again. Here was where things got interesting, because as we went back through the mirror we found ourselves in an entirely new area.

The path seemed to build itself before us until we reached a door. Stepping through this, we ended up in a strange purple room. The ground began to squelch almost like mud as we entered a large circular room.

Suddenly Dante raised his sword up to defend from an unknown attacker. We both spun around as our attacker leapt back and stared at us. He held a demonic appearance, resembling how Sparda was described in the stories I'd heard. I assumed this was Arkham after he gained the power he was after.

Arkham held his sword tightly and addressed us in a deep, demonic voice as he asked "Welcome, what do you both think after looking at your father's image?" Dante replied "It's like staring into a backed up toilet." I added "Regardless of his appearance, it is wasted on you. A mere faker who had to cheat demonic power."

Dante pointed his sword at Arkham and asked "Why do you always stick your nose in other families' business? Come on dude. Don't you have any hobbies?" Arkham began laughing in a sinister tone before speaking again. "You can still talk big after seeing this?!" 

His body began mutating as he stated "I can feel the Devil's power overflowing my body! The power of SPARDA!" Soon Arkham's body was completely consumed by the power. Now, he no longer resembled our father Sparda, now he just looked like an amorphous mass of purple muck and fluid. He no longer even resembled anything human OR demon.

I just stared at the purple mass before me as Dante commented "Dude, my father wasn't so hideous. Can't you tell by looking at me?" I added "I guess your appearance now accurately represents your insides. With that, both of us drew our respective weapons. Dante added as well "Yeah, that shape suits you better. Let's begin the main event."

With that our final battle against Arkham began.  This new form of his was surprisingly slow and almost slug-like, not to mention it was quite large. So early on, both me and Dante entered our Devil Trigger states and began delivering an onslaught of slashes and stabs.

(Interesting note, Arkham will be the only major villain who Y/N won't have a 1v1 fight against in my current idea for the story. Since he had that brief battle against Vergil in chapter 8 and I currently plan to have him face Mundus, Arius and Sanctus at least once alone. Though this may chance later.)

Things weren't as easy as they sound though, Arkham used a series of tentacles to retaliate and despite his slow body movement, his tentacles were lightning fast and I found that we were now just trying not to get hit by him.

Eventually, Arkham began tunnelling into the ground and out of sight. In his place came these annoying worm-like creatures made of that same purple fluid. What made these a problem were the sheer numbers that they appeared in, we found ourselves fighting at least ten of them at once, maybe even more.

Nevertheless, both me and Dante continued to fight with ferocity and while these creatures had great numbers, they weren't durable at all. I soon began by slashing right through one of them, turning around and shooting another before jumping upwards, pulling out the woman's rocket launcher and blowing them all to pieces.

With the worms gone, Arkham himself once again resurfaced and began attacking us once more. Again though, while his body was big and slow, granting us plenty of easy hits, the tentacles proved hard to dodge and in the end I was actually slapped quite hard by one!

I soon recovered and this cycle repeated itself with Arkham eventually tunnelling underground, out of harms way and we had to deal with those little worms once again though this time, I used the rocket launcher combined with Eclipse to make short work of the ones I faced while Dante did the same with his.

Arkham resurfaced once again, however instead of attacking us, he addressed us in a cynical tone. "No use. Regardless of how strong you both are, you're both nothing but half-breeds. Neither of you can defeat a PURE demon, the real Sparda!"

I snapped "You aren't a pure demon Arkham. You're just a sad, scared little man who killed the only person who could ever love him for power that he can't even control." Arkham bellowed "SILENCE!" And sent one of his tentacles towards me.

Before it could reach me however, a slash cut right through the tentacle slicing it half! Arkham looked up, asking "What is this?" As I followed his gaze I was surprised to see VERGIL standing above us, Yamato held out to the side, had he just saved me?

Vergil announced to Arkham "I've come to retrieve my power! You can't handle it." He landed right in front of us before pointing his sword at Dante who jokingly commented "Look at you. Making a big dramatic entrance and stealing my spotlight."

Vergil replied "What, you don't possibly believe that he deserves to be our main event now do you?" I nodded and said "I have to agree with you there." Dante added "Now that you mention it. You're right." 

With that, all three of us began approaching him, Rebellion, Yamato and Eclipse all drawn and ready for battle as Arkham asked "Do you feel you can defeat me? Defeat the power of your father, the great Sparda?!" Vergil pointed at him and said "You should come to realize, you cannot control the power of Sparda." Dante added "You're wasting your time buddy."

All three of us suddenly rushed forward and our battle continued, this time with Vergil actually helping us. And with all three of us working together, Arkham didn't stand a chance. All three of us landed a flurry of slashes, stabs and even projectile attacks, Dante had his duel handguns, I used Cinder and Vergil called forth these energy swords.

Arkham attempted to burrow underground again, but he was on borrowed time at this point, we swiftly dealt with those little worms, even quicker this time and Arkham was forced to resurface, then we just continued our barrage.

Eventually Arkham let out a pained groan as Dante and Vergil both stabbed their blades into his sides while I stabbed mine into his front. We held them in place before suddenly being swatted away by the tentacles.

We soon recovered, as we gave our weapons one final push, Yamato and Rebellion both came out the other end, being caught by their opposite owners while Eclipse clattered to the ground. I watched as my older siblings dashed forward and landed another slash onto Arkham.

I grabbed Eclipse again and sheathed it as Arkham groaned out "It cannot be! I CANNOT!" Dante drew both his handguns however Arkham managed to swat one of them away only for it to be caught by Vergil.

They placed them together as Vergil said "I'll try it your way for once." Dante asked "Remember what we used to say?" Arkham yelled "DON'T DO IT!" As Dante and Vergil stood back to back, I drew Cinder and even though I wasn't stood near them, I still aimed it towards the purple mass. Both Dante and Vergil muttered a simple phrase.

"Jackpot!"

With that, all three of us fired shots towards Arkham who took them head-on. As he was dying we heard him yell "I have the power of SPARDA!" I grinned and said "You do say that a lot sir." Vergil commented "Not very classy for someone's dying words." He then tossed the gun back to Dante.

Arkham finally disappeared and with him gone I turned to walk away when I heard Vergil asking in a stern tone of voice "Where do you think you're going?" I turned around to see Yamato pointed at me.

Instead of answering straight away, I pulled Eclipse out and aimed it back at him saying "Whatever problem you two have, I want no part of it. The only reason I helped you now is because I knew the consequences if I didn't."

My eyes widened though when I noticed the blade Force Edge along with the two amulets floating above what I believed to be the only exit from this place. A smirk appeared across my face as I said "But, it seems that what you want, is once again in my way."

Vergil turned around, seeing the blade and amulets. No words were spoken, all three of us raced towards the hole in the ground as the blade dropped through it. All three of us, leapt into the hole as it close behind us.

It seemed with Arkham gone, there was one last matter to deal with...
