Chapter 12: Lady's Hatred and the Truth Behind Y/N's Grudge

Y/N POV

This new Quicksilver ability combined with Devil Trigger had proved to make matters even easier for me. The Demons  I encountered now were of next to no issue for me. Even a Hell Vanguard which had previously caused trouble, were cut down with relative ease.

I kept going back through the tower, intent on locating Vergil and challenging him once again. This time I could only hope my new gifts would at least give me a chance against him this time, as last time I was completely out of my depth.

Eventually though, as I continued to venture through the tower, cutting through any Demons in my path, I eventually came to a door which at first didn't seem like anything special. However, upon opening the door, I was met with an interesting sight.

I instantly saw that mysterious woman pointing her handgun directly at Dante's head. Behind them was the bloody corpse of ARKHAM! It seemed I had caught the pair in the middle of an argument because suddenly the woman yelled "-To top it off, that filthy scum is my father!"

Dante simply responded by arrogantly saying "Oh? We have something in common, I have a dysfunctional family two." I was angered by his response but I will admit, I was saddened when the woman snapped "And what would you know about family?! You're a demon!"

She then added "This is MY father. MY family! This was all supposed to end by MY hand!" I finally spoke up aggressively snapping "Enough! Both of you!" In truth, what she said had triggered something else within me. It was only now that I realized just how alike the two of us truly were.

Both of them briefly looked at me before the woman slowly lowered her gun before turning to the body of her deceased father. She just stared down at it silently, not saying another word. Yet I could tell what she was feeling.

Dante asked "Aren't you gonna shoot?" before adding "That's a switch." The woman didn't even retaliate and instead simply responded by saying "Just go. I don't care anymore." Dante turned to leave the room, giving me another glance before heading off presumably in the direction of Vergil. I would follow him later.

I instead stayed, standing near the doorway I had come through, watching the woman standing there in silence. Eventually though, she spoke up, saying "I told you to go, can't you see I want to be left alone?"

I still didn't leave and instead stepped closer, saying "I'm so sorry that this happened. And I'm " We remained silent for this moment before I eventually said "I know what it's like to lose close family."

Suddenly the woman spun around and this time she aimed her handgun at me before yelling "Like I told that other guy, you couldn't possibly understand how I feel! You're a Demon! What could the liked of you know about the concept of family! I thought I could trust you 'Y/N'! But I find out you're just like the rest. A filthy Demon lowlife!"

Something inside of me snapped at that moment, in an instant I thrust my arm off and sent the woman's handgun flying across the room. I suddenly then yelled "LISTEN LADY, WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS, YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME!"

I sighed, calming my thoughts before saying "Correction, I am HALF Demon. Believe it or not, I was raised by my mother, a  HUMAN. All was going well until one day when I was 15, Demons arrived at our home. They butchered my mother right in front of me. From that day, I swore to make any Demon I encountered pay dearly."

I looked down before saying in a sad tone, "I never had any idea that I myself was actually a Demon." I looked up, my glare must have been fierce because the woman actually stepped back, her eyes widened in shock as I asked in an aggressive tone "Could you ever possibly understand how that might feel? To spend years hating something only to find out you are that exact thing."

The woman didn't respond and I simply turned my back to her before finally saying "I thought not." With that, I walked away, before I left the room though I turned one last time and said "Get out while you can."

After that, I just left the room, leaving the woman alone with her father's body. A part of me hoped to see her again. Though for now, I had another priority...
