Y/N POV

At long last, we made it. The highest possible point of the Qliphoth. The sight where it appeared this final battle would take place. Following the defeat and disappearance of V's three familiars, we had headed on to where we knew Vergil was waiting and now we were finally here.

Sure enough, we found him, sat on some form of makeshift throne with his back to us, overlooking everything below. Dante soon got his attention by announcing "Hey Vergil! Your portal opening days are over. Give us the Yamato"

Vergil didn't look at us but replied "If you want it, then you'll have to take it." He stood up out of the throne causing it to disappear as he added "But you both already knew that." I simply nodded as Dante said "I had a feeling you'd say that." We both drew our swords ready for battle.

Vergil asked, directed at Dante "How many times have we fought?" Dante replied "Hard to say, we've been doing it since before Y/N even entered the picture." He said that part gesturing towards me before saying "It's the only memory I have of us since we were kids."

That's when I remembered, one of the reasons I insisted on accompanying Dante here. "Wait!" I yelled, causing both Dante and Vergil to turn to look at me. I stared directly at Vergil and said "You've still got to tell me, what did you hear your mother telling mine? How did you find out about me?"

To that Vergil just grinned "Now that dear brother. You will only find out AFTER we battle. Once this business is concluded, I will gladly tell you what I know." I sighed and said "Very well. If that's the way you want it."

Dante readied for battle and said "Time to finish this Vergil, once and for all." Vergil just raised Yamato and clicked it out of its sheath, staring intensely at us before saying "I won't lose to the likes of you two. Little brothers."

Before I could react, Dante instantly raced towards Vergil, swinging the Demon Sword Dante in a sideways motion. Vergil managed to avoid the attack by jumping upwards and sending a cascade of those holo-blades down.

Dante flipped backwards, causing the projectiles to hit the floor and shatter like glass. I chose this moment to join the fight as well, leaping up into the air and went in for an attack of my own. Vergil finally drew Yamato and we began to duel.

We slashed at one another relentlessly before meeting in a clash. Vergil leaned close and spoke "You know Y/N, when we first met, I thought you would just be a problem, aside from needing your blood for Temen-Ni-Gru, you served no other purpose to my goal. But now, now I feel you are an opponent I will relish in defeating. Almost as much as Dante."

I retorted sarcastically "I suppose I should feel honoured. BUT-." Dante drew Ebony and Ivory before shooting at Vergil. He placed Yamato behind him and spun it around, stopping the bullets in their track.

I used that opportunity to kick of Vergil's chest, making him gasp. I then fired rounds from Cinder and much to my surprise, even with the speed enhancements Nico had upgraded it with, Vergil STILL managed to stop the rounds much like he just did with Dante.

Bouncing back, I went in to attack with Eclipse as Dante leapt up swung in with his own weapon. Our goal was to strike Vergil in the middle of our two attacks however he rapidly ducked to the ground, displaying speed greater than that of us two.

We both came back to the ground, Dante instantly engaged in a one on one duel, meanwhile I stayed back for a moment, Dante yelled "Y/N here!" And tossed the original Kalina Ann towards me. We heard Vergil saying "It will take more than projectiles to defeat me Y/N!"

Nevertheless, I opened fire, using both the original Kalina Ann as well as Kalina Ann II. Duel wielding them, I was able to fire two rockets at one instead of one. Unfortunately, Vergil was right, the projectiles didn't do much good as Vergil just batted them away like they were baseballs.

As him and Dante duelled one another, Dante said "It's about time for us to settle this." As those words were spoken, a blue aura surrounded Vergil and in a burst, he ALSO took a Sin Devil Trigger form. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, if me and Dante were able to unlock this hidden gift, Vergil would have definitely been able to.

He instantly knocked Dante back before saying "That's right. Come on!"  He instantly fired more of those projectiles that caused Dante to leap out of the way. I also had to leap back to avoid being hit by them.

Vergil then dashed forward and began slashing at us, however what interested me most was that he actually had blue blades protruding from his arms themselves. Even so, I found it near impossible to dodge each of the attacks, one actually managed to cut my side.

Vergil seemingly teleported back a bit and did the move which I remembered him doing in our previous encounters decades ago. He would place Yamato back in its sheath and a series of aggressive slashes confined in a blue orb would appear.

I was barely able to dodge before both me and Dante attempted to go in for another counter attack. Vergil suddenly yelled "Prepare, to DIE!" He took to the sky and began flying around the large platform where we were fighting, crashing through various obstructions before divebombing us. The attack missed as both me and Dante leapt up into the air.

We turned to one another and nodded, in unison there were red and purple flashes and we were in our own Sin Devil Triggers. I heard Vergil mutter "Well, this just got interesting." Before he rushed forward.

I went to slash as Vergil raised one of his arm blades to defend. As Dante attacked he used Yamato to block. We separated and flew about in the air. At various points we charged towards one another.

Since me and Dante were working together though, Vergil soon began to fall short. I landed a powerful slash to Vergil's chest which he responded by slicing at my face, I ducked back just in time.

Dante followed up by going in for some slashes and cut one of Vergil's arm, not clean off, but he managed to damage the demonic flesh before our oldest brother ducked a second slash and kicked Dante in the stomach.

After that, our duel continued, despite being outnumbered, Vergil held his own, fending off both me and Dante with little trouble. He leapt back and shot several holo-blades at us however I raised Cinder while Dante drew Ebony and Ivory and between us, we destroyed each one. 

We both fired at Vergil again however he just deflected the bullets back at us, Dante went in for a corkscrew attack which knocked Vergil back significantly. Unfortunately, it was around this point, our Sin Devil Triggers all wore off. First me and Dante's went off, causing us to land on the ground again.

Once Vergil landed on the ground as well, he spun around as his Sin Devil Trigger also wore off. He instantly tried using that slashing void attack thing however Dante evaded it. He jumped back before rushing forward and saying "It's time to end this!"

It was at those words that I thought back. I remembered our last battle with Vergil in the demon world. The two brothers were completely content with murdering one another, in our last battle like this, I'd stood between them. I wouldn't let two members of my family kill one another.

What I did next surprised Dante, Vergil and even myself. I rushed forward and swung Eclipse in a manner that countered DANTE's attack. As I just stared at him, his eyes widened as he exclaimed "Y/N! What are you doing?!"

I spoke "This fight is pointless. Just as it was years ago." Dante rolled his eyes muttering "Not this again." Behind me, I heard Vergil say "You couldn't understand Y/N. You weren't here from the beginning."

To that, I retorted "Wouldn't I understand?" I pushed Dante back before stepping backwards so we were almost stood in a triangle shape. I glared at Vergil and asked "What has your quest for power brought you Vergil? Manipulated by Arkham? Servitude to Mundus? Body warped into becoming Urizen? Is that worth it for something that you seem to endlessly pursue."

Vergil raised a hand in a fist saying "If you only knew the lure of greater power. Then-." I cut him off "Then I'd what, let my siblings murder one another? Vergil, thanks to your stunt a month, I have tasted greater power. However much like with your demonic self, I lost myself in it. For a whole month I spent with great power at my disposal but at the complete control of that power's bloodlust."

I could tell my statement got to Vergil as he snapped "Enough! Either stay and fight or leave! I will not listen to your foolish ramblings!" Dante spoke up "Look Y/N, this is how it has to be. Vergil won't listen to words."

I glanced between the two of them "Oh I'll stay and fight. Even if I have to face both of you at ONCE! Every brother for himself." Dante exclaimed "What?! Y/N, I don't want to fight you." I closed my eyes and said "My decision is final." Vergil however just smirked "That's the spirit, this should be interesting." 

After my declaration there was silence, the three of us all stood glancing between one another, seeing who would move first. That task went to Dante who naturally dived straight for Vergil, going in for a slashing attack.

I snapped "Don't forget about me!" And entered regular Devil Trigger. I attempted to slash at both Dante and Vergil however Vergil jumped back causing me and Dante's attack to collide in a clash.

Dante asked "Are you sure you don't want to back out?" I replied "I'm certain, if this is the only way for you both to see reason, so be it." Dante entered his Devil Trigger and from there we both duelled.

Vergil jumped in and it was a three way battle, every man for himself. All three of us attacked one another landing blow after blow. I heard Dante saying "Think you can beat me, not in a million years." Vergil retorted "Save that until you win, if you can."

Vergil leapt back and using his own regular Devil Trigger, he was able to enhance that attack where he concentrated a multitude of slashes. The attack his me causing me to yell in pain and also cause my Devil Trigger to deplete.

Dante jumped towards me and attempted to hit me over the head with the hilt of his weapon, presumable to knock me out. However I rolled out of the way just as his Devil Trigger vanished as well. 

This just left Vergil and much like before, me and Dante worked together to charge Vergil who sent various holo-swords at us. We both dodged the attacks before each going in for a different attack, I went in to slash and Dante went for a stab.

Vergil swung Yamato in a manner that cut off both attacks and it was at this point Dante exclaimed "You cut off your sons arm, for THIS?!" Vergil seemed confused by the statement for a second however he regained his composure and spoke in a cold tone "My son, means nothing to me."

In a swift motion, he hit Dante, knocking him back. I managed to land a hit that sliced Vergil's cheek, much like I'd done to V in an earlier encounter however Vergil just growled in annoyance and thrust Yamato's sheath into my chest, sending me back as well.

As both me and Dante caught ourselves, it was at this point Vergil finally brought up, "Nero, is my son?" Dante replied "Yeah dumbass. You can't remember through that thick skull of yours?" I commented "You mean you didn't figure it out? A silver-haired boy who is able to wield Yamato?"

Vergil stood upright and said "Well well. That was a long time ago." Dante joked "I guess you were young once too. As much as I'd love to hear that story, I think it's about time we-." Vergil finished his sentence "-Ended this." I merely interjected "I will not allow this to continue, this ends here."

In flashes of red, blue and purple, we all took our Sin Devil Triggers one more time. For a moment we all stared at one another once more, just like earlier, it was a matter of who was going to move first.

The three of us rushed forward all at the same time. Dante intent on finishing Vergil, Vergil intent on finishing Dante, me intent on taking BOTH out so they couldn't cause any more damage to one another.

Neither of us were able to land an attack though, as we met, something leapt between us and somehow held all three of us at bay. There was a huge flash of blue light that initially caused me to squint.

My eyes widened when the light faded and I saw a figure stood in between us, holding us back...
