Chapter 108: Chaos vs Order, Taming Eclipse
(I feel I should mention now that Eclipse is meant to represent the boundary between Chaos and Order. Y/N's usually level-headed personality is based around order while Eclipse's insanity is meant to represent chaos.)
Y/N POV
The black shroud-like fog in front of me let out a laugh before beginning to take shape. The fog began to develop a somewhat humanoid figure however there were a few major differences that made it much more demonic in nature. Most notably, giant wings spread out from its back, horns curved out of the top of its head and massive claw-like nails grew from its fingertips. I recognized the demon before me as the same form I'd been forced into for the last month following that fateful battle with Urizen.
I already knew what this demon was meant to represent, an extension of Eclipse. That's why it reached out to me after I had that vision. Even so, how this came to be still confused me. I'd heard of devil arms having personifications before, but never had I heard of one that was able to actively control its wielder. Even so, I wanted more of an explanation "So what exactly are you?"
A somewhat stupid question I know. But at this point what more could I ask? I knew what the demon was, but I didn't fully understand it. The demon just laughed at my question before responding cryptically "One could say you and I are one in the same."
I just narrowed my eyes as he went on to explain "You were the one to wield Eclipse and as such you became the host of my consciousness. Over the years you have continued to feed my desire, slaying beings with enough power to keep me sustained."
He raised the palm of his hand and small flames appeared in them, these flames took the shape of people who I knew now had been assimilated, most prominently, Arius. I still remember when that happened, the purple electricity that shot out from the blade.
The demon closed his fist as the flames disappeared. He then asked "Do you see it now? It was a mutually beneficial agreement. I could continue to feast and you would be granted the strength needed to stand a chance."
As I raised an eyebrow the demon laughed "Idiot! Did you really think you lasted so long based off of your own skill?! Of course not! It was me! Without me you'd have been dead in a gutter somewhere by now!" He began laughing in a fit of insanity.
I sighed, as much as I hated to admit it, the demon was right. Without Eclipse, I wouldn't have lasted as long as I did. Perhaps to an extent, the demon was onto something there. Even so-. I paused my train of thought before smirking confidently.
"You're absolutely right. And because of that, I think it's time we revaluated who takes orders from whom." The demon looked at me confused as I drew Eclipse from its sheath and instructed "You will take orders from me now. And first things first you will allow me to return to having full control!"
The demon embodiment of Eclipse just let out another laugh before saying "You think you can stand up to me? Very well. Let's test that out for ourselves shall we?" He raised his hand again and in a purple flash, a copy of Eclipse appeared in his hand.
Beneath us, I once again began to feel a solid surface which I stood on. Now me and the demon just stood opposite one another a mutual glare shared between us before I started running towards him, Eclipse in hand.
I went in for a slash however the demon quickly raised his own copy of Eclipse up to block the attack and force us into a clash. As we stared one another down the demon laughed and asked "Do you really think you can best me? I am the one with all the power here! Observe."
He raised his hand and placed it on my chest before sending a purple electrical volt through my body! The surge flung me across the room and caused me to fall onto my back with a grunt. The demon slowly approached me chuckling menacingly.
Obviously, I was weaker than my darker counterpart, however one advantage I did have was that I was clearly smarter and more cunning. So in a swift motion, I lashed out and cut at the demon's left leg causing it to drop to one knee.
I swiftly stood up and followed up with another slashing attack across the demons face that caused it to growl out in pain. I tried a third attack however the demon suddenly flew back and tried firing a blast of sparks at me.
I rolled my eyes and asked rhetorically "Was I really that predictable when you took over? No wonder you couldn't catch Nero or V." It was funny even though this demon was far stronger than me, I was easily able to evade the lightning streams.
I then entered my Devil Trigger, again it felt good to be using my own demonic power as opposed to Eclipse being in command. With this speed, I was able to once again try and attack the demon Eclipse.
He tried blocking the attack and went in for one of his own. I was just about able to dodge the attack and from there it was just a process of trading attacks before once more we got mixed up into a clash.
Of course this was difficult, even with my Devil Trigger, Eclipse was much more dangerous, the only reason I'd been able to fare so well against him was because of how narrow-minded he appeared to be. Each move was predictable especially since I remembered my battles with V and Nero, while I was stronger than them, they still managed to do damage especially Nero.
Eclipse spat "If you do manage to beat me, what then? Without me then you will have no power. Eclipse is but a hollow shell." Our clash continued for a while before I abruptly leapt back to gain some distance.
Eclipse did the same and now we once again were stood opposite one another. The demon glared at me with a look of hatred. Suddenly though his eyes widened and he doubled over, clutching his stomach, blood came from his mouth.
He glared at me and too my surprise I heard him muttering "Damn you Dante!" I realized that while me and Eclipse had been battling in here, Eclipse had still been using my body to battle Dante on the outside who must have landed a vital blow that gave me the chance I needed.
In a single swift movement, I ran forward and without warning stabbed Eclipse through the chest with the sword he was named after. I began chanting as I pressed the sword deeper. "You belong to ME now, I want control!"
As I said these words purple electricity built up around Eclipse both the sword and the demon. I heard him yell in a panicked tone "No, don't, what are you doing?!" I continued mumbling "Give me control of my body. The power of Eclipse belongs to me."
The electricity continued to expand fluctuating around Eclipse until he let out a distorted yell. There was a purple flash and the next thing I knew I was no longer in that purple void, instead the next thing I saw was Dante standing before me with a confused expression...
Dante POV
I continued to attack Y/N, hoping I'd be able to break him out of this demonic state. He tried to fight back but with my new abilities I just kept pushing him right back. That's when something strange happened.
I slashed Y/N in the stomach and he staggered back when I noticed a build-up of purple electricity. Purple cracks slowly began forming all across his body, it honestly looked like he was breaking apart. I stared at him in confusion.
Suddenly the electricity shot outwards and there was a bright purple flash. I briefly had to cover my eyes to shield from the light, however when I lowered my arm, I was left even more confused than I was before.
In the place of Y/N, I saw another demonic form, completely different from before. This one didn't look as insane or like it was going to try and kill me, instead it simply watched me with a blank face.

I remained on my guard, not knowing what was going to happen. I cautiously asked "Y/N?"
Author's Note: And that's it for this chapter, I really hope you enjoyed it. Now while we are technically in the final stretch of the story since the whole Y/N Eclipse plot is resolved, we still have a ways to go before the end of the story. I really hope you enjoy what's to come and as always, thank you for reading.
