Y/N POV

I flew off once more, leaving a confused Nero and V along with a surprised Lady behind. I didn't know where I was going, all that mattered was that I get far enough away from this site as quite as possible. The headaches had returned far worse than before and this time it showed no signs of stopping.

Eventually, the pain started becoming too much and I couldn't sustain my flight causing me to fall and crash down to the ground. I landed on my front however quickly got up onto all fours holding my head as the painful pulses continued.

My vision began flashing purple continuously. I had no idea what was going on, the pain kept on getting worse. That's when out of nowhere, a memory from many years ago abruptly flooded into my mind.

Flashback...

"Lady." I tilted my head in confusion asking "I'm sorry?" She responded "My name, it's Lady." I smiled a bit before saying "Well then Lady, it's nice to finally properly meet you." She smiled and said "Likewise." 

Suddenly she wrapped me in a tight hug which caused Dante to chuckle however I was focused on her as I heard her say "Thank you Y/N, for helping me." Surprisingly, I slowly hugged her back saying "Don't worry about it. I'm glad I could help you."

Return to present day...

My eyes widened a bit at the sudden memory that hit me. That was the day me and Lady formally got acquainted, right after we escaped Temen-Ni-Gru, after both Arkham and Vergil were dealt with. Why did that suddenly come up now?

Suddenly I heard a voice, one that didn't seem to come from anywhere in particular however it held a dark sinister tone as it asked "You aren't thinking of going back are you? After I gave you such a generous gift?"

I looked around frantically for the source of the voice however just as I initially thought, there was no sign of anyone around, my eyes snapped around at my dark surroundings relentlessly, the headaches continuing. And once again, without warning, a familiar memory which I'd repressed flooded into my mind. 

Flashback...

I approached Lady before jokingly saying "Well, I made it back with only minor injuries. I suppose I still owe you that pizza." Lady's reaction was one of complete seriousness in fact I'd say she looked angry when she snapped. "You think this is a joke?! You could have died!"

She slapped me before adding "You could have lost an arm or something!" This was followed by another slap as she then yelled "The only plus side to that is that I would get 100% of our payments without having to share!"

Her face then calmed down as she said "But, I'm glad to see you back. I had thought Abigail would have killed you." I chuckled "Do you really have THAT little confidence in me Lady? How long have we been working together, you know I can handle myself."

Lady laughed faintly before quietly saying "Well what kind of partner would I be if I didn't worry about my associate?" We laughed together for a moment before falling into silence, now we just stared at one another. My E/C eyes looked directly into her heterochronic red and blue eyes. It was at this point I realized how stunning they were.

I don't know what made me do this, but the next thing I asked was "May I-?" Lady just looked at me and nodded. And in that moment I leaned forward and for the first time since I met Lady, we actually shared a kiss!

Back to present day...

As that second memory faded, I held the sides of my head in my hands groaning to myself, I heard that dark voice speak up again "You were weak before you found this power. Do not throw it away based off of nothing but pathetic emotion.

My mind was in total disarray, I couldn't think clearly, I hunched over with my head in my hands as the pulsing headache and purple vision kept coming and going. I had no idea what was going on, it felt the two sides of my brain were in direct conflict with one another.

And for the third time, purple laced my vision before once again, I was forced to relive a memory from my past. This one was much more recent than the last two and was also an even more important one...

Flashback...

Lady's pained cries filled the room. I sat next to her hospital bed, holding onto her hand and calmly guiding her through the process which I could only describe as pure agony for her. But I kept reassuring her it would be worth it in the end.

The hospital midwife calmly said "Okay, just one final push, there we go." Soon Lady's pained screams stopped and were instead replaced by a baby squealing. Slowly the midwife stepped back, revealing a small infant in her arms before saying "Congratulations both of you, it's a boy!"

Some time later, we both just watched our new-born son. Lady was still in bed cradling him while I sat beside her gently holding onto her hand. Lady spoke in awe "He's beautiful. We did it." I smiled at her and said "You did most of the work, well done." I gave her a faint kiss on the head and did the same to the baby in her arms as everything around me faded...

Back to present day...

As the memory faded away and reality came back to me I instantly felt an immense weight on my mind. I felt like I was going to vomit and covered my mouth as I retched, making a purple liquid seep from my mouth. I lowered my hand and caught my breath.

That's when the voice came back saying "I will not let you squander our new power or give it away. We were chosen to sate Eclipse's hunger and that is what we shall do." I slowly looked down before mumbling "Get out of my head."

I threw my head back and this time yelled my previous statement "Get out of my head!" The voice didn't acknowledge my statement though and said "I was lenient on you before, but TWICE you have denied us the opportunity to feast. I cannot allow your incompetence to go on any further!"

The headache let out one final burst causing me to yell before I collapsed onto my hands and knees, shaking slightly. I slowly raised my head and let out a snarl one last glint of purple flashing across my eyes...

V POV

After Y/N fled, we were all plunged into silence once again. Lady just collapsed onto the steps of the van, a distraught look on her face as she quietly mumbled "Y/N, no..." Nero got to his feet going over to her saying "Come on, get inside and rest. We'll take it from here."

Once he'd done that, he came back outside and said "Right, so do we go after him?" I kept a blank expression before replying "No, as you just saw alone we're no match for him." Nero asked "So what now? What's the plan?"

I sighed and answered "There is only one person who I believe could best Y/N. We need to find Dante." Nero nodded before saying "Sounds good to me. Let's go." I quietly responded "Right." With that we headed off.

It was essential we found a way to stop Y/N, as long as he was against us, there was no way we could beat Urizen...
