1) I Go To Freak Camp And Mom Gets Abducted
Giving caffeine to a fourteen year old girl in ANY circumstance is a bad idea. Factor in the ADHD and dyslexia, and you've got yourself a deathwish.
I am a perfectly normal girl. At least, if normal girls get kicked out of every school they attend for mysterious, odd reasons.
Every time I settle in, every time I'm accepted, something happens, and I end up kicked out of school.
I know it has something to do with my dad, but mom won't say anything...
Strange things happen. Very strange.
Like in eighth grade, when my best friend, Samantha Lammons, was bullied by the 'popular kids', I stood up for her. The details are really unclear, but at some point, I burst into flames and the ground turned into lava. And in seventh grade, when my dog died, it rained all day. When I was provoked, a tree on the property was struck by lightning. And in sixth grade- well, you get the idea.
My little sister, Lily, is odd too. Whenever she's in a bad mood, earthquakes and tsunamis happen. Crazy stuff.
Now, at the end of eighth grade, my mom should be telling me what the heck is wrong with me instead of pretending I'm normal! All of the kids at school call me a freak, and the ones that don't try to avoid me at all costs. I'm going to make her tell me someday, sooner rather than later.
Don't get me wrong, I love my mom. But when I want answers, I better get them. It's about 3 pm at the moment, and I'm going to ask soon.
So I walked out of my room in our house to the living room, where my mom was sitting on the couch. We lived in Fort Worth, Texas, in a crime ridden neighborhood with trees. Really pretty trees. AGH, DYSLEXIA! Mom was sitting on the couch reading a book. Harry Potter, I think.
She smiled when she saw me. "Hello, darling...." she trailed off when she saw the look in my eyes.
"Mom." My voice cracked when I began. "What's wrong with me? Why am I like this? Why won't you admit it instead of pretending I'm fine? Why?" Tears suddenly ran down my face and I wrapped my arms around her.
"Oh, honey..." she said, with a heartbroken look on her face. "There's nothing wrong with you..."
"See? This is what I'm talking about!" I cried. "You deny it every time! I-"
"What I am saying is the complete and total truth, Taylor." She said sweetly. "There is nothing wrong with you or your sister."
"But then-"
"Bring her in here, and I'll explain a few things." I nodded and left the room to find my sister.
"Hey, Tay, why-" she stopped talking as she saw my face. "Why-"
"Mom's explaining why we're like this." I explained flatly. Lily's eyes widened and she got up quickly to follow me.
"Mom, is that true?" Lily asked hopefully. "Are you finally explaining all of this?"
Mom sighed. "Yes. Come closer." We scooted onto the couch with her.
"Girls, you know about Greek mythology, right? The Greek gods and Olympus?" We nodded. "They... aren't myths. They're real. It all happened. The gods really do exist."
We stared at her in disbelief. "You're kidding, right? It makes no sense! Even if it was true, why would you tell us?"
"Because you two are the daughters of gods." The silence that followed was louder than anything ever.
"That... actually makes sense, if you think about it." I said finally, trying to process what I had just heard. "I mean, we have weird powers and everything."
"That's cool!" Lily yelled. "Dad is a god?! That's so wicked!"
"You're... not at all phased by this?" Mom asked faintly, a soft smile on her face.
"Oh, I am. It's a lot to comprehend. It's just cool."
"Who's our dad?" Lily's question silenced us again. Mom looked up to the ceiling as if praying to our father. Finally, she took a deep breath.
"You two... don't have the same Olympian father." She blurted out. I stared at her with disbelief.
"Who... is mine, then?" I asked cautiously.
"If you knew, monsters would track you down. We need to get you two to Camp Half-Blood as soon as possible. There's no time to lose. Leave everything you own here and get in the car. Since you know of your heritage, you could be attacked at any moment." Her two daughters looked at her oddly as she flung the door open to reveal it to be pouring rain. She facepalmed and closed the door.
A huge THUD echoed through the house.
Mother looked out the window and paled. "It's too late. They're here."
"Who's here?" I asked in confusion.
"The monsters!" She yelled.
From her pocket, she grabbed a small pouch. She took a pinch of green dust from it and threw it into the fire. A green fire suddenly burst into existence. Lily and I were making some pretty weird faces at her.
"You're taking the Floo there." She explained. At our even more confused faces, she said, "It's fire travel. I got the dust from Hecate as a gift years ago. Camp Half-Blood!"
She shoved Lily into the fire and as she tried to do the same to me, I ducked. I heard the sound of the wood splintering from the door.
"What are you doing?" I wailed.
"Saving you. Taylor... no matter what happens to me... remember that I love you. Now, GO!" She shoved me into the fire. I stumbles into it and suddenly felt a weird squeezing sensation mixed with dizziness, and suddenly, I fell onto wooden floor.
"Another one!" A female voice cried. Someone rushed over to help me up. Images flashed before my eyes and darkness creeped over my eyes in dead faint.
I know, really not that good. I hope you enjoyed it, though!
Yours truly,
