"It's official." Sapnap groaned, collapsing on his friend Karl's bed next to him, "I hate winter."
Both Karl and Sapnap loved skateboarding. It was mid October when they first learned the shared the passion and it took a week for them to decide that they wanted to go skateboarding together.
Last night, the 27th of October, Sapnap had looked out his window, seen the beautiful fall atmosphere still there, and decided if him and Karl were gonna go skateboarding before winter hit, they might as well do it the very next day.
Sadly, Mother Nature decided to say no.
It was only after Sapnap had woken up, gotten ready for the outing, and grabbed his sticker-covered skateboard that Dream had advised him to look out the window.
Overnight it had snowed. A lot.
Punz and Dream both stood in anticipation, watching Sapnap stare out the window, waiting for him to react.
Sapnap let out a sigh. And flipped off the outside.
The ravenette then sulked to Karl's dorm, to break the bad news.. and that's how they've ended up here.
"If we had been one day earlier!" Karl exclaimed, waving his hands all over, as he does. "One day!"
Sapnap nodded sadly, staring blankly at the ceiling. "And we're way to broke to go to an indoor skating park."
Karl and Sapnap sighed forlornly in unison. Fuck college and it's stupid price.
After a minute or two of silence, Karl piped up, "Wanna play air hockey? I can get Pun-"
"No."
"Eh- alright then."
Sapnap sat up slightly, with the sudden strike of an idea. "..hey, Karl."
"Yeah?"
Sapnap turned to his friend with a mad grin, slightly startling Karl with his sudden change in mood. "We can skate down the stairs!"
The ravenette jumped up and bolted out Karl's door, his skateboard dragging behing him.
Karl sat up, stunned. "We can what?"
When Karl found Sapnap again he was, naturally, at the top of the stairs.
"This is a bad idea Sap.." Karl warned, glancing warily down the two flights of stairs. "You're definitely gonna get hurt."
"Maybe, but if I pull it off it'll be so cool!"
"Don't be a hothead." The shorter male bonked Sapnap on the top of his head, "There's no way you could pull this off!"
Sapnap backed up down the hall to get a good running start. "Watch me."
And with that, the reckless ravenette took off down the hall on his board and flew down the stairs.
The first flight was awesome. Sapnap felt so cool as he soared over the carpeted steps.
Then, he messed up.
He tripped up when he touched down on the landing and stumbled into the wall. Then, stumbling off the wall, he fell backwards... tumbling right down the second flight of stairs.
Sapnap collapsed at the bottom of the stairs, groaning in pain as he tried to get up, before finding he could barely move without sharp spasms of pain shooting through his whole body.
Karl, from the top of the stairs, shrieked and ran down. "You- oh my GOD SAPNAP-!!"
The brunet fell to the floor next to his friend and tried to gently flip him over, so he wasn't stuck with his face on the floor.
"Are you okay??" Karl asked, cradling Sapnap's head in his lap. "That's a really stupid question you're obviously not--"
Sapnap grumbled, squeezing his eyes shut. "Ow."
"No duh 'ow', you nimrod!" Karl said, "It's a miracle you're still conscious..!"
"I-I need to lay down." Sapnap decided, trying painstakingly to get up. "On something other than the floor."
"Woah, chill out there Sappy." Karl warned, pushing the ravenette to lay down again. "You're not moving by yourself. I'll get Dream. You stay here. Got it?"
"Ugh, fine." Sapnap frowned, and found that even that hurt. Maybe it was best that someone was gonna help him to his bed.
Karl got up, but before he could basically even leave Sapnap's side, he ran into Punz. "Punz!"
Sapnap tried to lift his head, "Punzo-?"
"..Karl-!" Punz took a moment to take in the scene in front of him. "What happened here??"
"Sapnap skateboarded down the stairs."
"He did what?!"
"It was really sick." Sapnap insisted stubbornly.
"Do you know where Dream is?" Karl continued, "We need him to carry this one to his bed."
Punz bit the inside of his cheek and looked down at Sapnap. He sighed, then patted Karl's shoulder. "I've got this, Karl. You go find Foolish instead; that paranoid mother fucker probably has more medical supplies than a hospital does stashed away, he can provide pain killers and the occasional bandage." The blond looked down and locked eyes with Sapnap. "I can carry this dumbass to our room-- if that's okay with you, Sap."
"Yeah, whatever." Sapnap said, through gritted teeth as Karl ran off to find Foolish. "Just fucking get on with it please."
Punz laughed without humour, his voice laced with concern. "You got it, chief."
The blond leaned down and gently gathered his injured friend into his arms. With one arm hooked under Sapnap legs and the other around his shoulders, Punz stood straight and started towards the stairs.
While he was climbing back up to the second story, Punz leaned his head to where Sapnap's was and whispered, "Hey, dumbass. You okay?"
"Replace 'dumb' with 'bad' then we can talk."
"You're an idiot." Punz said, with far too much fondness for a supposed 'insult'. "Now, never try something like that again! That was way too reckless."
Sapnap snorted, "I looked hot doing it, so it was totally worth it, though."
Punz chuckled. "I bet you did."
Punz got to the top of the stairs and headed down the long hallway of doors, counting the rooms under his breath. As they made their way to his and Sapnap's dorm, Punz slowly began rubbing small circles into Sapnaps shoulder comfortingly. For a moment, the blond looked down, and gave the ravenette a quick, small smile.
That familiar, terrifying feeling began welling up in the pits of Sapnap's stomach again. He felt so.. happy and safe in Punz's arms that it scared him. After the last time he had this feeling, while playing air hockey, Sapnap had told himself, 'Friends make other friends blush 'n shit all the time! Normal friend stuff! That whole thing about finding Punz hot will surely be a one time thing.'
And overlooking the fact that Sapnap had found himself wanting Punz to use that tone that had started everything with him again, it was a one time thing!
But now, Sapnap wasn't sure anymore. This situation一 Punz, gently resting Sapnap on his bed and brushing his crow-black hair out of his eyes for him so he didn't have to move, then rushing to get him some Tylenol 一was so different from the situation when they were playing air hockey.
This time, Sapnap wasn't staring at Punz in awe because he was being insufferably hot.
He was staring at Punz in awe because the ravenette couldn't stop a nagging voice in the back of his mind from telling him that Punz would make great boyfriend material.
And the voice wasn't even making a general observation, it was telling Sapnap that Punz would be a great boyfriend for him. Specifically.
Normal friend stuff. Sapnap reminded himself, Normal. Friend. Stuff.
"You got a fever too, bro?" Punz joked, handing Sapnap the Tylenol and a handful of bandages Foolish had brought, along with Punz's own water bottle. "You're burning up."
"Yeah, yeah." Sapnap graciously accepted the pills and the water, then pulled a face. "Make fun of me while I can't fight back, fuck you."
"You can fight back." Punz said, "Just, y'know, not well."
A pause, as Punz sat on Sapnap's bed next to him. "So basically nothing is different."
"ALRIGHT, BLONDIE YOU'RE DONE FOR-" Sapnap balled his fists and tried to sit up, he ego wounded and his friend laughing hysterically. But unfortunately, Sapnap hadn't even taken the Tylenol yet, so his whole body seared in pain as he playfully tried to attack Punz.
"Hey- hey Sap-" Punz said, batting Sapnap's hands away and trying to get the ravenette to lay down again. "Sapnap, you're gonna hurt yourself- lay down-!"
"No, thank you!"
Then, before Sapnap knew what was happening, Punz grabbed his shoulders and shoved him back down. "Stay." He commanded, while practically pinning Sapnap down onto his matress. "Don't hurt yourself more."
Sapnap had no more intentions to move, anyways, once again frozen beneath icy glare.
Normal friend stuff, normal friend stuff, normal friend stuff, normal friend stuff, normal friend stu-
"Sapnap! Karl told me you fell down the stairs are you--" Dream came rushing through the door only to come to an abrupt stop. "Oop-"
"Hey Dream." Punz said, not moving from his position. The blond wasn't even putting down pressure anymore, Sapnap simply wasn't moving. "Sap's being a little bitch."
"Sh-shut up, Punz."
Dream narrowed his eyes and glanced between the two boys, "Well. Uh- Sapnap, you seem well enough. I'll stop by later to say hi- uh- and not inturrupt anything."
The green-eyed boy began walking backwards towards the door again, bumping into the wall and the door itself. "Bye-!"
After Dream high-tailed his way out of there, Punz seemed to notice where he could've been getting his assumptions from.
Punz cracked a grin, and once again burst into a fit of laughter.
Though he was still embarrassed, blushing, and in pain, Sapnap couldn't help but laugh along. As always.
