The Lost Fable
Jinn:" Locked away by her cruel father, Salem was a girl who desired but one thing: freedom. She lived in a time when kings and their kingdoms were plentiful, when men and women were capable of greatness and magic was a gift drom the gods that all could wield. And yet, there she sat within her tower."
The scene suddenly changes to the outside of said tower, showing many different warriors failing to fight their way through to it to ask for the hand of Salem. All but one of them went down in battle, but for the last one standing, there seems to be a more important part. Qrow is in front of that man and tries to get his attention by waving his hand at him, but nothing happens.
Jinn:" Until one day, a legendary hero came to brave the challenges within the towers walls. The people of the lands knew him... as Ozma. Unlike those who had came before, this warrior was not driven by the prize of the young maiden's hand. He fought only for righteousness. And his pure heart and couragious soul prevailed..."
Another change shows Ozma fighting off any opponent who dared to challenge him and so he was the one to reach the top of the tower and rescue the sheltered girl. the two layed eyes on each other as Ozma entered the room and Salem knew immediately that he was there to get her out.
Jinn:" They escaped the wretched fortress, and yet, something bound them together. Ozma had been ready to give his life for justice countless times, but now he saw a woman worth saving it for. And Salem, to her surprise, found her freedom not in the outside world she had yearned for, but in the eyes of the man that had saved her."
Salem:" So? Where should we go now?"
Ozma:" wherever you'd like."
The scene changes once again to a bedroom where Salem kneeled next to Ozma who seemed to ill. He was in bed with his eyes closed while his chest didn't rise or fall from breathing anymore.
Jinn:" The two fell deeply in love, planned adventures around the world and lived happily ever after...Or at least that's what should've been. Ozma, the infallible hero of legend, fell ill.And where all of the beasts and blades of the world had fallen short, a single sickness prevailed."
Salem:" How could the gods let this happen?"
Jinn:" The gods, brothers of light and darkness, creation and distruction. Salem prayed they would see the injustice that had befallen her love and make things right."
Salem was soon found wandering towards the domain of light, visiting the brother of light and creation. She had some flowers with her to lay down in order to pay respect to the deity before she made her way into the center of the area.
Jinn:" The Domain of Light was a sacred place. It was here the elder brother dwelled beside his fountain of life and creation. It was here where mankind would fall to ruin."
The yound woman was determined to get her love back from the gods, so it didn't take her long to descend towards the fountain as the God of Light chose to rise from the water to eye his visitor. She explained her suffering to the otherworldly life form as good as she could, asking him to bring Ozma back from the dead.
Salem:" Please. Please bring himback to me."
God of Light:" I understand your pain, but you demand of me that which I cannot make so. Life and Death are part of a delicate balance."
Salem:" So you won't do it then?"
God of Light:" To disrupt the cycle of---"
Salem:" But that's not fair. That's not fair!!!"
God of Light:" Let him rest."
A few seconds later Salem found herself back outside of the Domain, but she didn't accept the elder brothers' answer. Her expression went to an angry one as she stared at the sky.
Salem:" No."
And so she made her way to the younger brother and his Domain of Darkness. It was much more negative and less enjoyable to be there, but she had to go there to get her wish fulfilled. Although it was quite dangerous, the woman never backed down and began to step towards the pools of Grimm from which the younger brother rose.
Jinn:" And so you must understand the Dark Lords' suprise when he found a lone woman kneeling before him. Salem understood it well. She told him of the loss and professed that she knew only he could answer her prayers, all while carefull not to make a mention of his elder."
God of Darkness:" Rise, child. And let your faith in me be rewarded."
She did as she was told and the Dark Lord brought back the beforementioned fallen hero, Ozma. Of course Salem was more than happy to have him back and Ozma was shocked at first to be back in the real world, but it didn't end the way they expected it to go as the elder brother appeared on top of the stairs.
God of Light:" What have you done?"
God of Darkness:" I have done what I please, brother. You may bask in the powers of creation, but you do not own them."
God of Light:" This is not creation."
God of Darkness:" Do not lecture me."
God of Light:" I do what I must to maintain order."
And so Ozma was gone and brought back several times over the next few minutes as the brothers were stuck in their conflict before the God of Light explained the situation to his younger brother. In that time both of the gods had turned into dragons.
God of Light:" I know we have our differences, but I have not come here with the aim to control you. The same, however, cannot be said about her. This woman came to you only after I denied her pleas. Pleas that would have disrupted the balance that you and I created. Together."
God of Darkness:" Then it seems I owe you an apology. Allow me to correct my mistake."
And with one more breath, Ozma was gone. Gone from this domain, gone from this world. Nothing but memories were left as Salem desperately tried to get the gods to bring him back.
Salem:" You monsters! Give him back to me! Give him back!"
She was about to attack them because in her eyes, they betrayed her. Her love was taken from her multiple times, but she doesn't understand how the world works. When the God of Light swallowed her, she was soon falling from the sky with tears in her eyes. She crshed into the fountain of life, feeling like drowning, but then the gods decided to give her a much worse punishment than this.
God of Light:" When you first came to me, I did pity you.But it is clear now that your selfishness and arrogance have led you astray."
Salem:" What did you do to me?"
God of Light:" I have made you immortal."
Salem:" Immortal?"
God of Darkness:" You can not die. You can not be with your beloved."
Both:" So long as this world turn, you shall walk its face."
God of Light:" You must learn the importance of life and death. Only then may you rest."
Before she could reach either of them, she was out on an open field with the sky turned grey and the grass around her almost rotting. She couldn't believe what she heard and what had happened to her. Salem was furious, enraged. she wanted to be with ozma, yet nothing got her there. No attempted suicide, no accidents, nothing.
Jinn:" Salem was a prisoner once again. Her fruitless attempts to reunite with Ozmaeventually became nothing more than acts of spite and defiance against the gods...But perhaps the gods weren't as powerful as they seemed. She had lied to them, turned them against one another. They were fallible. If she were to turn humanity against light and darkness, she could rid herself of their curse. Or at the very least...she could make them suffer."
Salem was soon travelling through every kingdom, twlling the kings and queens that she stole immortality from the gods. She proved it by challenging the strongest fighters to cut her down and they tried, but it didn't do anything to her. She wasn't harmed after all and so, she soon had an army in her command and they moved back to the domain of light, challenging the gods. She learned an important lesson over time. salem learned that the hearts of men are easily swayed.
God of Light:" Who has led you down this path?"
It wasn't a big surprise for the gods to see Salem stand before them once again.
God of Darkness:" You."
And so began the barrage of attacks against the younger brother, who just caught the magic spells in one of his hands. He wasn't fazed by any of it, but became slightly disappointed.
God of Darkness:" My own gift to them...used against me."
He then realesed the magic and all of sudden, all of humanity vanished. The purple beam eradicated every single human. Salem on the other hand was the ground, becoming enraged once again as she was about to get up.
God of Darkness:" You thought there was no greater punishment we could bestow upon you?"
Salem:" I'll come back! I'll tell the rest of the world of this massacre, build a new army."
God of Darkness:" You do not understand. There is no one left. You are all that remains of humanity."
God of Light:" This planet was a beautiful experiment, but this is merely a remnant of what it once was. We will learn from this failure. I hope that you will learn from yours."
And so the elder brother disappeared from this world, all while Salem yelled for him to come back. She was in denial, trying to force the gods to stay, which the younger one didn't take too kindly.
God of Darkness:" Still demanding things from your creators."
The god of darkness left Remnant as another light beam, shooting into the atmosphere where he shattered a big part of the moon, making it what it is today.
Jinn:" Once again, Salem was alone. She cursed the gods. She cursed the universe. She cursed everything, everything but herself. She wandered the face of the planet, awaiting a death that would never come...Until fate led her back to the land of darkness. This was it. This had to be it, the brothers Grimm, the pools of black that continued to give rise to horrific nightmares. If the fountain of life granted her immortality, then surely, the pools of Grimm will finally take it away....She was wrong. This force of pure destruction could not destroy a being of infinite life. Instead, it created a being of infinite life with a desire of pure destruction. And in time, she would find her adversary."
And years later, a painful cycle of death and reincarnation began for Ozma as he was the one who was supposed to stop Salem. He lived with her in his second life, sure. But it bore not only good things. He told her what the God of Light asked him to do and he was sure she was not taking it kindly. One night as Ozma tried to sneak out with his daughters, the first four maidens of Remnant, they were stopped by Salem and a giant battle broke out in which he four kids were killed. Ozma was weak after it, trying to crawl away from Salem, who was furious again.
Salem:" We finally had freedom."
But before Ozma could answer, he was burnt to ashes, starting the repeated cycle until today. Salem was always present and he felt it. In every new life, he saught out the power of the relics that the gods created and scattered around the world. If combined, the gods will return and humanity will be judged. In one of these lifes, he activated the relic of knowledge and asked Jinn his questions, the most important probably how he could defeat Salem, but Jinns' answer was devestating.
Jinn:" You can't."
And so most of the group is let out of the recap of Ozpin's life. It's true that he kept the most important things from his friends, students and more than surely the public itself. The girls were just diappointed, furious and amost out to hurt the former headmaster while Qrow took a good look around, trying to find Kain.
Qrow:" Guys? Have you seen Kain? He's not here."
Yang:" I didn't see him yet, but I would've done the same and got out of this place."
The rest just shake their heads while Kain himself is still caught in a white and flat landscape. Jinn seems to have to show him something.
Kain:" Come on, Jinn. I've seen what the others have seen. This is enough."
Jinn:" You may think so, but Ozpin also had a few things hidden about your ancestors. What the tribe was about when it first was built, what beliefs they had when the gods were abandoning them and the relics your family has in their possession for centuries."
Kain:" Don't get me started on religion or anything remotely close. I hate that stuff, but...what was it about my ancestors?"
Jinn:" As a reminder: this doesn't count as a used question, so you're lucky because I understand the reasoning you present me...It all started in the west of Anima."
(Just imagine the middle part of the western area in this map. It's almost at the coast line.)
Jinn:" The first incarnation of the Gojira tribe was built along the coast of western Anima. The see proved to be a good defense against any oncoming airships, although the aquatic Grimm were more to handle. Shelter was found in small tents they built from wood and leafs while campfires were giving light and warmth. Your people were great hunters, collectors and inventors, crafting tools and weapons for any kind of combat. It was upon them to keep the coasts safe and hinder infiltrating enemies from taking down the kings and queens of Anima."
Kain:" This...this is incredible. Tell me more."
Jinn:" Gladly. The connection your tribe had with the rulers of this land was rooted deeply. your great great great grand father was selected to be the right hand guard for the then reigning king. it was stated that the use of violence should be kept to a minimum, because war wouldn't solve anyones' problems. He complied and followed every order the king gave him while also taking care of the tribe. He shared his rewards with the people and so they did uphold themselves for so long..........As for the relics: I have reason to assume you don't know much about them."
Kain:" That is right. Though I always wondered why we had them."
Jinn:"*chuckles* It's time to reveal the secrets to you. The first ever relic your tribe received was a crystal. Not just a normal one....You see, the crystal was used in emergencies, teleporting your people away from their current hideout, if they ever were in that much danger. It was sealed in a box made of marble and was burried deep on this small island you see on your map....the second relic was a ring."
Jinn:" It's purpose was special. It didn't get the tribe members out of danger, but it helped in combat as it granted them an increase in power whenever they used magic....Most of these rings are lost or destroyed though, but I know of one that you should get for yourself as fast as you can. It is not far from the last spot your people were staying at........Now onto why they had these artefacts. Although they never believed in gods or super natural things, they needed protection from time to time. They used magic very often, so their moves were predictable after a lot of fights. The ring helped them greatly, because when magic was used, it was affecting a wider area and shoved enemies back....The crystal was split between elders and their right hands to decrease the chance of people collecting the shards and using them to their adventage."
Kain:" I need to find these items as fast as possible before Salem or any of her helpers get their hands on them. lthough nobody really is able to use magic anymore, I will keep the tradition alive. I have to look through the records of our last elder and then start searching."
Jinn:" You don't have much time. The longer the shards lay lost, the weaker their effect will be. you have to find seven shard and the ring of course. maybe you are the one they called 'Rising Tide'...Go and find your artefacts. They are meant for you...Unfortunately my time to tell you anything is over for now...I look forward to meeting you again, Kain Phoenix."
And so Jinn is gone and Kain is released from the other dimension. He has his back turned to the rest as they all look at him. His big fists are shaking as he gritts his teeth.
Qrow:" Kain, there you are. You had us worried!"
Kain:" How long, Ozpin!?!?"
