Chapter 6: Free America Decorated Cookies and Cakes But No Ice-Cream

The door shut close and Kate sighed.

"So, that's Oliver, eh?" Levvy said, walking to the pizza box and shoving it into the dustbin. Oliver and Jordan just left to go to Jordan's apartment, since it was getting late and they were getting sleepy.

"You went south, but you caught the dialect of the north. Wow, Levvy, you do have such divine power."

Levvy scoffed and said, "Just answer the question, Kate."

Kate sat down on the couch and said, "Well, he introduced himself, didn't he? He said his name was Oliver."

Levvy sat down casually next to her, putting his feet up on a feet rest, "You know what I mean. I'm talking about the text you got."

Kate narrowed her eyes, "I have a feeling that's not all you're talking about."

"I heard from Quinn."

"I know."

"And you accepted? Aren't you done with all the favors people ask of you? Especially Quinn?" Levvy sounded frustrated.

"I'm sorry, okay? I was done with all the stupid things that everyone made me do. All the 'Could you do this for me?' and 'Please? I beg you! I promise this is the last time!'. I was done. But..." Kate trailed off.

"You couldn't help it, right?" Levvy let out an exasperated sigh, "You're too kind, Kate. You're too kind."

Kate didn't reply. She was feeling horrible that people could manipulate her so easily. But, the look on Quinn's face when her relationship with Ethan was in danger. Kate couldn't help but loosen the knot that she made just in the morning.

Levvy stood up, "Well, it's getting late. Let's go to bed."

Kate nodded and stood up as well.

They walked to their respective rooms, after brushing their teeth (together, mind you. You don't really need the door closed to brush your teeth). Their rooms were just across to each other's. So when opening their doors, they faced the other way.

When Kate was about to enter, she felt Levvy turn her around and hug her.

She was shocked for a bit but she hugged back. Then she heard Levvy whisper, "Don't forget to stand up for yourself, Kate. That always has been your weakness."

Kate smiled and replied, "I won't."

He pulled back and looked into her eyes, "But, it's very difficult to act on it, right?"

Kate nodded and smiled, "Thanks Levvy." She put all her sorry, thanks, and you're awesome into that thanks.

Levvy smiled back and said, "What are brothers for?" Which made Kate smile even more. Levvy and Kate had such a good friendship, even if they had a huge fight about something, they'd probably just ask them where the spatula was the next day and joke like nothing happened, eventually forgetting about it. Like siblings.

"Well, let's go to sleep. Tomorrow is Independence Day, big day, eh?"

Levvy rolled his eyes and then smirked, "Yep, free America decorated cookies and cakes. What's better."

Kate pouted, "I hate sweets, other than ice-cream. It's sad that they don't give away free America designed ice-cream."

Levvy laughed and patted her head, "Go to sleep, Ley-Ley. Good night."

"Good night."

Before they both went back to each other's room. Kate could've sworn she heard Levvy mutter under his breath.

"No time before she falls of him too."

Kate changed and slipped into bed. She wondered what Levvy meant. She knew that he was talking about her and Oliver. She also knew there was a risk of her falling for Oliver, but what had he meant, when he said too?

She shrugged it off, she was too tired for this. She thought about all sorts of ice-cream, before falling asleep.

* * *

The next day, Kate woke up around 9:30 am. She changed and brushed her teeth before checking on Levvy. He was deep asleep.

She made her bed and went to the kitchen to make some breakfast. Even, though Levvy was the cook, he always woke up after her, so he taught her how to cook breakfast, every sort of breakfast, so she could eat whatever she wanted.

Kate cooked up some bacon for her and pancakes for Levvy. She covered the pancakes with a lid, so it would stay warm and ate her bacon.

After she was done, she washed her dishes and wrote a note for Levvy.

I know you're probably waking up at 11, but I made some pancakes for you, your favorite. But, I have to go out. I'll be back around 12. Don't worry, I'm not doing something illegal. I'm just visiting the hospital for a quick visit on my eyes, and then to the post office for a package apparently. We can go to the fair at the park, for the celebration (and free food) after I come back.

Don't Die
Kate

She stuck the note on the lid of the pancakes and slipped on her jacket, put on her shoes and then left.

The trip to the hospital took ten minutes. Her work there was done in twenty and she left to go to the post office.

She arrived at the post office in thirty minutes.

What's with the package that it can't be directly delivered?

She gave the package receptionist a slip and waited as he went inside the room behind him.

He walked out with a huge box. Woah, I can't even see his eyes. The box is pretty big...

Kate then signed the parcel and left. She was having trouble holding it up.

"Why did uncle send me something so big...? It was good enough that he was paying my part of rent..." She muttered, trying to hold it up.

She saw a bench nearby and set it down, taking a break.

With this, it'll take me a millennium to get home.

She sat down on the bench and decided to take a five minute rest.

She thought about what could be in the box, and after five minutes she stood up and started carrying it again. She walked super slow, so no one would bump into her, as she couldn't see straight ahead. Although, there was almost no one walking around.

What the hell is in this? This is killing my arms. I should've brought the trolley...

"It seems we keep running into each other," A voice from behind her spoke.

She rotated ninety degrees and then turned her head, so she could actually see the person.

Oliver. What is up with us running into each other in public situations...

"Yeah, so it seems." Kate replied.

"You received something pretty big there." He looked at the box up and down.

"Yeah, it's my uncle. He sends me these twice a year. He's weird like that."

"Cool. You, uh, need help? That looks pretty heavy." It is.

"Sure, but I'm not letting you carry this whole thing."

"Then, you take one side, and I'll take the other. We'll carry it together." The 'together' part made Kate blush a bit, which she didn't know why that happened. Maybe it was because it was the first time someone had actually offered help.

Oliver walked in front of me, where I couldn't see him.

"Lower the box, I'll take this side."

Why did I agree to this?
