Transfer

I had hoped this day would never come, that I would have died immediately after I heard the news, but here I was, alive, watching all my friends and family disappear as the truck drove me off to a new home, one I didn't want to live at.
When we arrived at the new facility, sick people started crowding around. My driver came out in a gas mask and hazmat suit, and came around back to open the back, where I was.
I hadn't realized I was huddled in the corner until I realized that he couldn't reach me.
I stood up and walked out myself. Normally this would be the point where I greet everyone, make friends, and act cheerful. I guess I wasn't feeling up to that today.
People stared at me as I walked past, I must've looked rich or something to them, but that was because I just got here. I wasn't really allowed to bring anything from my home, just a pillow and a few blankets, I couldn't even keep in contact with those who loved me because I couldn't bring my phone. My mom would never know what happened to me.
As I was lost in my thoughts I accidentally bumped into something. Or, more specifically, someone.

"Woah, watch where you're goin newby!" He growled at me.

I just sighed and pushed past him to find my room. As I was walking, a tall girl walked up to me.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"Sure, I guess......." I mumbled.

"Don't mind Balto, he's a jerk!"

"Whatever....."

"My name's Dottie, what's yours?"

"Look, I'm not trying to get attached to anyone right now, we're all gonna die eventually, the longer you're here, the sooner you're gonna die, so why bother making friends?"

"I could introduce you to my friends!"

"Did you not hear what I just said?" But at this point, I couldn't help but be curious.
Dottie grabbed me by the wrist and led me to a small room where two boys waited there. When she arrived, they both looked up and smiled.
They were both about the same age, one had green hair and the other had brown hair, Dottie had bluish hair, and they all had similar smiles. Were they related?

"These are my best friends, Rylen," she pointed at the brown haired one. "And Daniel!" She pointed at the green haired one, who blushed.
"Don't worry about him, he's just a little shy." She giggled.

"Dottie, who's this?" Rylen asked.

"Well this is the new girl, her name is.... Wait, what is your name?"

"Aphmau...." I replied.

"Yeah! This is Aphmau, she just got here! She's a little discouraged, knowing that we're all gonna die in a month or two, so I thought we could help cheep her up!"

"She doesn't look too happy to have been dragged here, Dottie....." Daniel pointed out.
I grinned.

"Do you have a room yet Aphmau?" Rylen asked.

"I dunno....." I replied, knowing what they were going to ask me.

"Hey, you could stay with us!" Dottie shouted enthusiastically

"Whatever, I just want some time alone right now...."

"No problem! Here I got your stuff!" Dottie took my stuff and started making a bed that was collecting dust in the corner.
I waved at them and walked out, I just needed some fresh air. Somehow it seemed that every spot outside was occupied, all except one, over by the wall that separates us from the world, like outcasts or criminals.
I walked over to the wall and sat against it. As I was thinking I noticed noise coming from the other side. It sounded kind of like music.

"Is someone there?" I called out, the music stopped.
"I'm sorry if I startled you, that music is beautiful......"

"Thanks...." A voice responded from the other side, it was almost as lost sounding as mine.
"I must go now...."

"Will you be here tomorrow?"

"If you want....." The voice faded, I could tell the person was walking away. Who was it though?

That music, it sounded different, not like normal music, it was special. But it was just music, and that was just a person...... Right?
