After we stuffed ourselves on cheap greasy breakfast food, we headed out to this cliff, lake place. Apparently it was called Phoenix Peak, it was a great cliff for jumping off of and onto the water. When we arrived we set down all our stuff and sat down for a moment.

"So, you up for some swimming?" FC asked in a playful sort of way.

"But, we don't have swim suits!"

"So?"
I giggled.
And then I stopped.
He was serious.

"Wait, really?!"

"Yup!" He laughed as he began to strip down until he was only in his boxers.
"I guess I'll meet you down there when you decide to join me!" He laughed and then ran off the cliff. I watched him plummet into the water and resurface, smiling up at me.
"Come on!"

"No!" I shouted back.

"Why not?!"

"Because..... I can't swim!"
Silence.

"I'll teach you! All you have to do is jump!"

I stood there for a minute, considering this. Sure drowning was one of the worst ways to die, but I still had noting to lose.

"Fine!" I yelled and stripped off my shirt and shorts. Soon I was standing there in my undergarments, staring down into the dizzying depths of eternal doom.
The water.
But I jumped.
I'm not sure why, but I did. I guess I trusted him enough. I hit the water with a splash and immediately my nose filled with water.
I screamed. I was frantically splashing and punching through the water, trying to go upwards, but I only sunk further.
Knowing you're going to die soon, taking risks doesn't seem that scary, but when you actually face death, it's terrifying. I stopped struggling and decided to just accept it. I know what would happen. This was the end.
Just as I closed my eyes to embrace the sweet escape of death, two muscly arms slipped themselves under mine and pulled upwards. I was launched to the surface and I gasped for air as a cool breeze dried my face.

"Are you okay!" FC cried out as he dragged me to shore.
I replied with several coughs and gasps.

When I could breathe again I answered.
"I think I'm fine, but I told you, I can't swim...."

"Then it is my goal for the rest of day, by the end of today you will be and expert swimmer."

I grinned.
"I don't know about that...."
