"Fairy Tail will now disband."

Those words shocked the members of the guild, utterly surprised that Makarov would come to such a conclusion. Never in a million years would any living soul of Fiore imagine that the strongest yet loud and rambunctious guild, Fairy Tail, would be no more.

But it was.

Everyone had no other choice, but to go their separate ways and do their own thing.

Some people left on a solo journey, while others travelled as a team. Namely, you, Laxus, and the Thunder Legion travelled together since none of you were apart of a guild anymore.

And because you and Laxus had been dating for technically seven years because of being trapped on Tenrou Island. But in reality, to you guys, it has only been about six months.

You always thought that Laxus was attractive, but you were not a fan of his arrogant personality after his father was excommunicated. Similarly, he too found you to be attractive, but after developing that tough exterior, he decided not to show his only weakness (not including motion sickness). So, neither of you never told the other of your feelings.

That is, until Acnologia attacked Tenrou Island.

Laxus confessed that he had liked you romantically for a while, years even. But that was when he thought that he was going to die. He spilled his guts just as the breath attack came, not giving you time to respond.

It wasn't until he opened his eyes after being asleep for seven years, did he realize what he had said and the predicament he was in.

Nevertheless, you told him not to worry because you felt the same way and were willing to date him since he had a drastic change in attitude.

So, that's why you decided to travel with him and his team after the disbandment of Fairy Tail.

And then an entire year passed . . .

Anyone who knew the members of Fairy Tail knew that this guild would not stay disbanded for long. Not if Natsu Dragneel had anything to say about it.

Returning from his year of training after taking off directly after defeating Tartarous, he discovered from Lucy that Fairy Tail disbanded exactly one year ago.

Seeing how upset the blonde was and being not at all thrilled about the decision, he vowed to get Fairy Tail back together.

Which, of course, means finding all of the members.

After a few weeks, everyone was gathered at where the guildhall used to stand. Everyone except Master Makarov, Laxus, Freed, Evergreen, Bickslow, and you.

I guess you could say that they saved the best (and the most difficult to find) for last.

Creating two search parties, one group led by Natsu went in search for the Master, and the other group led by Gajeel went in search for you, Laxus, and the Thunder Legion (since they knew that all of you would be together).

It took an entire week for Gajeel's team to find the Thunder Legion who were now members of Blue Pegasus. The Iron Dragon Slayer informed the trio of the matter-at-hand and asked where Laxus and (Y/N) were.

"Laxus left to train somewhere in the mountains." Freed explained, "He comes back every other week and takes a day job, then he goes back to training."

"(Y/N) is a different story." Evergreen continued, "She just disappeared one day and never came back."

"Why would (Y/N) leave like that?" Levy thought aloud.

Freed, Evergreen, and Bickslow shared a pained look, knowing exactly why you left. And Gajeel noticed the exchange.

"You aren't tellin' us somethin'." He concluded, narrowing his eyes suspiciously at the trio.

"That's because it's none of your business."

Everyone shifted their attention to the owner of the smart remark. Standing behind Gajeel and his search party was Laxus himself. A year has definitely passed since the others had seen him - his blond hair was lightly longer and slicked back, and he wore different clothing. He also had a more intensified presence than that of a year ago.

"Just tell us where (Y/N) is, so we can get goin'." Gajeel grunted, folding his arms over his chest. "Everyone's waiting."

Laxus' eyebrows knitted together at the mention of your name. "I can't tell you." He stated, holding his no emotion expression.

"Why not?" Gajeel interrogated further.

"'CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHERE SHE IS!" The blond's voice boomed throughout the guildhall, startling most of the people there. You were a sensitive subject for Laxus and the Thunder Legion knew that.

"A-Alright . ." Gajeel mumbled, still shocked by Laxus' random outburst.

"Mind telling us what happened before she left?" Cana asked.

Seeing a vein pop out on the side of Laxus' forehead and his jaw clench, Freed suggested that they all talk outside. So, the former Fairy Tail mages shuffled outside of Blue Pegasus.

"So?" Gajeel inquired, raising an eyebrow (whatever eyebrow he had).

"There's no point in looking for her." Laxus snapped, refering to you. "Even if we find her, she won't come with us."

"Why do you say that?" Mirajane asked.

"Because," His jaw clenched once again and his fists tightened, "she left because of me."

Flashback to one year ago

Laxus had asked to become a member of Blue Pegasus so that he could continue to work. Why he chose this particular guild was something unknown to you.

Nevertheless, you were all made members of Blue Pegasus and were now able to take job requests.

For today, the five of you relaxed at the guildhall. You sat with Laxus and you could tell that something was bothering him. He was quiet, which isn't something new, but you could feel it - Laxus is never this quiet.

Something is wrong.

Then your minds drifts back to the moment Laxus woke up from being "cured" of the magic particles that were basically killing him. Upon waking up, he immediately engulfed you, Freed, Evergreen, and Bickslow in a hug.

"I'm pathetic." He had said, "I couldn't protect the people closest to me."

Was that what was bothering him? Did he still feel guilty for not being able to do nothing but sacrifice himself for you?

But isn't that something a hero would do?

You wanted to talk to him about whatever was on his mind, but something told you not to.

The next day Laxus went straight for the job request board. You, automatically thinking that you were going to with him, followed him. It wasn't until he reached the exit, that he commanded, "Stay here."

"What?" You asked, confused. "Why?"

"Because I said so, (Y/N)!" He snapped at you, which surprised you. Laxus has never raised his voice at you before nor has he glared at you like he is now. "That goes for you guys too." He added, referring to the Thunder Legion. "Watch (Y/N)." That was all he said before leaving.

Perhaps he needed time to himself. That's what you kept telling yourself for the entire two days that Laxus was gone. When he returned, you thought he would be back to normal. Instead, he delivered a bombshell.

"Let's break up." He said suddenly while the five of you were eating. Freed, Evergreen, and Bickslow found it wise to keep their mouths shut since this was about to get ugly. Although, they were now uncomfortable by the sudden change in the atmosphere.

"Excuse me?" You thought maybe you heard him wrong. There's no way that Laxus is dumping you without warning. There's no way! "I'm sorry, could you say that again?"

"I think we should break up." He stated again, no emotion on his face whatsoever. "I'm leaving tomorrow to do some training. Don't know when I'll be back."

"Why don't we go training together!" Your voice raised slightly, "As a team!"

"Because I'm going alone, (Y/N)."

"But that's not fair, Laxus!"

"Well, life isn't fair."

"Laxus,-"

"DOGGONE IT, (Y/N), I DON'T WANT TO BE AROUND YOU RIGHT NOW!"

That statement right there made you shut up. Your mouth was agape and you stared at Laxus, horrified that he'd say such a thing. The Thunder Legion was just as shocked as you were.

But the look on your face made Laxus regret what he said. Though, his pride wouldn't let him say so. Not hungry anymore, he abruptly stood up and left the table.

And you didn't see him for the rest of the day. Or for the next two weeks.

When Laxus returned to Blue Pegasus, he found his team, but there was no sign of you. "Where's (Y/N)?" He asked. The trio exchanged glances of sympathy before Evergreen responded.

"She left and she's not coming back."

End of flashback

"I screwed up and now she's gone." Laxus stated bittetly, "And she probably hates my guts."

"I'd hate your guts too." Cana grumbled, feeling bad for you.

"Hate is such a strong word." Levy laughed nervously.

"Doesn't matter." Laxus growled, "I'm not going with you."

"What?" Gajeel asked, surprised.

"Go find (Y/N) without me. You might have better luck."

"But she could forgive you, Laxus." Mira tried to persuade the male to join them.

"Doubt it."

"I bet if you apologized and were sincere, she'd forgive you."

"Mira,-"

"I smell her." Gajeel mumbled suddenly.

"Smell who?" Cana asked.

"(Y/N)." He replied, "She's nearby." That news made Laxus tense up and go stiff. Were you really close by? His heart pounded rapidly in his chest at the thought of seeing you again after an entire year.

"C'mon." Gajeel directed the group, walking off in a random direction.

Laxus was hesitant to follow, wanting to see you again but afraid of the reaction you might have. It was highly possible that you hated him with every fiber of your being. But it was also possible that you still loved him and wanted to be with him.

He was brought out of his thoughts when he was pushed from behind. He looked over his shoulder and saw his team collectively pushing him, making him follow Gajeel and his search party.

"If there's a chance that you and (Y/N) can make amends, then you should take the chance." Freed said.

"Yeah, you have no idea how uncomfortable it's been for us - watching you two not get along." Bickslow groaned.

"Now, would you mind walking on your own?" Evergreen huffed, "You aren't the lightest person on Earthland."

With the encouragement of his personal team, Laxus (walking on his own) followed Gajeel in search of you.

It seemed like they had been walking for a while until another town came into view. The streets were not heavily crowded, but there were people in the streets, talking amongst themselves.

"Gajeel, are you sure (Y/N) is-" Levy spoke, questioning Gajeel's tracking skills. However, she was interrupted by the sound of something crashing into a window.

Or someone crashing out of a window.

A man rolled onto the street, broken glass all around him (not that he cared).

"You'll pay for that!" He shouted angrily.

Someone stepped calmly out of the glassless window as strolled over to the man. "I come into town looking for a decent meal and your disguesting face ruined everything!" You snarled, cracking your knuckles.

"(Y/N) . ."

Upon hearing your name, you turned your head in the direction of the voice and instantly regret it. Forgetting about all the hesitation and fear he had earlier, Laxus stepped in front of the group and stared at you in awe.

He was just so happy to actually see you again - to lay eyes on you again.

He took a step forward and you took a step back. His heart sank into his chest. She hates me. He thought. "I just-" He fumbled on his words, "I'm sorry . ."

You redirected your attention to the man who you were about to beat up, but you no longer were angry at him. Your anger was now directed toward Laxus. "Tch." You gritted your teeth and walked away from everyone and everything, your back facing them.

Laxus hung his head in defeat only to be slapped on the arm by Evergreen. She, along with the other women present, gave him look that said 'you better go fight for her.'

So that's what he did.

"(Y/N), I'm sorry!" He shouted, causing a scene. All eyes were on the blond and those around him. You halted momentarily, not expecting him to yell and make a scene. "I'm sorry about what I said." He continued, inching toward your form with every sentence. "I didn't really mean it. I was just upset and wanted time alone. I wanted to become stronger so that I could protect you, Ever, Freed, and Bickslow without having to die doing it. I never meant to hurt you. And every day since you left, I've regretted saying what I've said. I've hated myself every second of every day. And I finally realize how much you mean to me."

By now, Laxus was directly behind you - you could feel his presence even though you weren't looking at him. You heard several gasps and your body acted on its own. You turned around to be met with Laxus on one knee.

"I love you. Always have and I always will." He said, looking up at you. "So once we find the old man and get the guild back together, will you marry me?"

You were in awe. Shocked. Stunned. No words would come out of your mouth. The man who abandoned you a year ago is now proposing to you.

It's not like you stopped or fell out of love with him. You were just heartbroken and angry. You thought that maybe the old, arrogant Laxus had returned - the Laxus you disliked as you were growing up.

But that old Laxus would never propose or make such a romantic scene in front of strangers (not that he would do it in front of his former guildmates either).

Your heart and body knowing what you want, your head nodded, signaling that yes you wanted to marry him.

The observing bystanders clapped for you and your new engagement, despite the fact that you were a total stranger.

Standing up, Laxus smiled at you before planting a quick kiss on your lips. "You know what?" He asked.

"What?"

"Losing you is definitely the one thing I regret the most."
