Before anyone could do anything, Black Death grabbed Eclipse into his arms, taking him somewhere else.

"Hey, wait!!" barked Lancelot but his steps were wavering as he was weakened. He followed Black Death, but he had no idea where he went.

"Let's go, partner!" said Sonic wrapping his hand around Lancelot's shoulder and running forward.

Before they could find them Black Death went into a separate room where were cocoons. They seemed empty as their skin was semitransparent. Eclipse was trying to keep the child inside, but he felt it's leaving his body. He cried for help.

"Eclipse!!" shouted Lancelot, hearing him.

"It came from that way!" Sonic sped up finally finding the place.

"You bastard!!" shouted Lancelot once he saw Eclipse laying on the floor with torn naval-cord sticking out of his body. Lancelot felt his anger to fill his body and burning him from inside.

Eclipse lifted his torso, screaming: "No, Lance!" His voice stopped the furious hedgehog's attack. "I'm alright!" He was panting. Black Death was sitting just a step from him showing great fatigue.

Lancelot's eyes wandered above them. "What's that?!" In the cocoon was floating small body and its naval cord was attached to the bottom part.

"That's your child," explained Eclipse. "Black Death put it inside."

"It's... cocoon used for..." he slowly explained. "raising soldiers... it will provide it all its needs. It will be like it's still in the womb." He tried to get up, but he soon gave up. "They can adapt to the fetus to meet its needs."

Lancelot slowly walked toward Eclipse, not fully understanding what it means.

"So it's like an incubator, huh?" commented it Sonic with a slight smile. Neither of them had an idea what that thing is, but if their king wasn't taking any action against it, they won't as well.

The next few hours were hectic. Eclipse was cleaned and he refused to leave his child, feeling weird and disconnected. Mephiles was transported to the more comfortable room. Black Death went with Sonic and Lancelot. Darklings were gathered at one place and they were provided with medical care and food with water.

Lancelot was met outside with his children and Moriana. Once she informed the king, Sonic gathered some troops and asked his old enemy dragon to take them here as dragons were the fastest flyers. Once they landed, Gawain, Percival, and Lamorak headed inside the mountain encountering some resistance from Black creatures, but they soon collapsed.

Then they gathered Darklings and found a place where pregnant ones were. They were given medical care and a place to stay. Actually, Darklings moved back to their home and groups were accompanied by Sonic's soldiers, cleaning any debris or death soldiers. Black Death was fully cooperating them and coordinating them.

They weren't treated badly, so they were more or less friendly and doing their jobs. The evening passed them and it wasn't until the deep night they stopped working and went to sleep. Knights were surprised in what environment Darklings used to live. They actually had only big rooms where one specific group was living. That meant all off-duty soldiers were having one big room, there was hardly any privacy or personal space. The same went for workers, watchers, and scouts.

The last group was a special case, as they were mostly living at outside world gathering information for Black Doom. In the past, it was Black Death who created transportation circles across a large area around the Darklings' mountain. They provided faster transportation, but ultimately they were meant to be used as gateways for a massive army to invade many kingdoms at the same time. Thankfully, this plan was thwarted before it could begin.

Lancelot was keeping an overview of Darklings seeing interesting numbers. There was thirty-three herms, one hundred of soldiers and watchers, fifteen scouts including Eclipse and group of ten workers. Overall, Darklings were a small race, the main force was laying in Black Doom and his mindless army of monsters.
