The hidden truth (6/8)
[** About five months later **]
The autumn was here. The leaves were colorful, filling the air with yellow, orange and red colors fluttering in the wind. Eclipse was holding a straw basket with apples in his arms, watching the trees and feeling the gentle breeze. Lancelot hasn't visited him... not even once.
'He must have returned to his old life,' he thought with a sad smile. 'But it's better that way.' With a tail, he gently patted his swallowed belly. "But we will be alright, right, little one?" He was pregnant.
He turned away, walking inside of his cave. 'I have to make more supplies for the winter and gather another wood.' Winter was his least favorite season. In this cave, he was able to warm up a bit, and he was protected from the weather, but the entrance was still too big, letting cold to freely enter.
'Maybe I can buy some thick carpet to hang it,' he checked the walls. The natural moss curtain was brown and full of holes. It was no longer suited for doors. He reached up when he jerked. "Oi, oi, little one, are you having a good time?" He smiled. "I'm sure you will be strong and beautiful like your dad." He patted him even more, getting kicks in response.
He looked at the sky. The evening was approaching and the sun turned the ground into the golden carpet. He let the breeze to caress him a bit more, before going inside. He had to make sure the child won't catch a cold. He slowly prepared the dinner, cutting the last of his vegetable.
'I should get more potatoes and some apples. I think pears would be good too. And fishes and some mushrooms!' In the middle of his thoughts, he heard quick steps behind him. He got scared. He quickly turned around, holding the knife and protecting his belly with the other hand.
"Eclipse!" shouted the man in the armor, hugging him.
The simple weapon fell from Eclipse's hand. "L-Lance?" Tears were falling down.
His lover broke the hug and deeply kissed him. Eclipse dug his claws into his quills, returning the kiss and wanting for this moment to never end. Tough luck, they both needed to breathe, so they had no choice, but to let each other go.
"H-how? Why did you return?" asked him Eclipse.
"I'm sorry! When I returned, the king was about to travel to the north stopping devilish knight. I joined him, it was my duty. I never thought it would take almost half of the year." He hugged him, pressing his body to himself. "I'm sorry for leaving you alone for so long." He felt Eclipse is covering his belly, so he let him go, looking down. "What... Is that?"
Eclipse quickly backed away from him. "Please, don't hurt it! I'll keep your fatherhood a secret!"
"Fatherhood? You mean? ... But you said!" Lancelot was at a loss.
"I know! I believed it too, but then this little one started to grow inside of me." He looked at him with pleading eyes. "Please, let me keep it. I swear we will never appear in front of you! I won't ask you anything!" He backed more, afraid Lancelot may hurt his child for this.
The knight was confused. He had a child with a herm thief. It was hard to swallow... to understand. He wasn't sure what to say when Eclipse squirmed and some water started to flow down his legs. "It's coming!"
"What is coming?" Lancelot approached him.
"The baby! It will be born soon. Agh!" he shouted as he felt a pang in his stomach.
"Like right now? What can I do?" Helping during childbirth and killing few monsters were way too different activities.
"I have a friend... She will help... she knows what to do," he tried to walk.
"Don't kid yourself!" He gently picked him, holding him like a bride. "Where does she live? I'll take you there."
"Thank you."
Lance dashed outside and following his lover's instructions he soon found a lone house in the forest. A moss was growing all over it, the windows were closed but the light of a fire was seen thru, indicating someone was inside. He kicked the door open. "We need help!"
Inside was a bat woman wearing a skirt and simple cloth belt around her breasts. She was frowning and obviously angry for the damaged door, but once she noticed Eclipse, her expression changed. "Lay him on the bed!" she ordered him and he gladly complied. "Hold his hand, I'll do the rest." She got some rags and started to heat up a kettle with a water.
Eclipse was holding his hand, squeezing it.
"Bent your legs and spread them," said the woman looking into his crotch. "Now try to push." He did it. "Good, push then take a short break and repeat it. It will be good." Eclipse followed her instructions, screaming with a pain. His lover was next to him, whispering soothing words and petting his head.
"I can see the head!" shouted the woman after almost an hour. "Keep going!" Eclipse pushed even more and the room was filled with another cry. "It's out!" proclaimed the woman, she held the newborn in the air, then she started to clean it. Then she cut the navel cord and gave the child into Eclipse's arms. "It's a girl, congratulation," she smiled.
Eclipse gently hugged her. She was crying, shouting she has been born so the whole world should take a note of it. "She is so small." He cuddled her.
