Chapter 4

The duo walked into the ballroom to find the dance floor to be mostly free. Most of the other people around her and Joel's age were at the bar getting drunk. The Phantom led her to the floor and began to dance. The music then changed to a slow song and Cassy arched an eyebrow.

"The waltz." She whispered softly.

He took her up into dance position and they slowly did the box step around the room. Cassy glanced around and noticed others had followed their lead. Turning her gaze back on the man, the young woman soon found herself staring into his cerulean blue eyes. They were warm, but they also appeared to dance with laughter. The duo danced slowly and Cassy glanced around. The other couples were holding each other close causing Cassy to frown. She didn't know this man at all, and she wasn't about to let him hold her close like that.

It then dawned on her how well they were dancing. Turning her gaze on him, Cassy arched an eyebrow. He had said he couldn't dance and yet they were dancing rather well. Her frown deepened wondering if he had lied to her.

Phantom man noticed her frown and frowned back, "Something wrong?"

Hearing him, she turned her eyes back on the stranger before shaking her head. "Oh... nothing..." She paused and bit her lip before the words came spilling out, never one to hold back what she thought. "You said you couldn't dance..."

Just then a woman came up to them and she did not look happy. "Cassandra, may I speak to you for a moment?" She interrupted rudely.

"But I'm dancing."

"I don't care. Excuse us, please."

The stranger looked confused but nodded to the witch and flashed Cassy a smile. Cassy smiled slightly in return but was not happy to be talked to by her step-mother again. What on earth could Cruella want?

Moving over to the side, the witch glared at Cassy. She opened her mouth to speak, when Sterling came over. The vampire did not look happy at all. To be honest, the man looked pissed and a little drunk, swaying a bit on his feet.

"Oh look, Cassandra. There's your date."

Sterling shot the witch a glare before taking Cassy by the wrist. "Dance with me!" He demanded rather loudly.

Before she could say anything, Sterling pulled her onto the dance floor and wrapped his arms possessively around her. Cassy didn't like it one bit and tried to wiggle free, but she couldn't. Sterling's grip just tightened around her. This party was turning out to be a disaster... at least for her. Dancing with the stranger had been nice, but she couldn't stand Sterling Morgan.

"You'll regret this you know..."

"Oh, you think so huh? I doubt it." Sterling slurred before lowering his head towards her.

Cassy nearly gagged smelling alcohol on Sterling's breath. The man then stumbled slightly into her, before he began nuzzling her neck. "Knock it off Morgan!" Cass said rather loudly and tried pushing him away from her.

"Caz!" Shouted Brayden hearing his sister and rushing to her side.

Hearing Brayden, Sterling let go of Cassy with a frown. The vampire dressed man looked at Brayden who was glaring at him. Brayden was tall and intimidating with his broad shoulders and muscular build. Now he looked like he wanted to tear a Morgan apart.

"Caz, come here, would you. I'd like you to meet someone." Reaching out for his sister, he continued glaring at the fool who kept manhandling Cassy.

Grateful for her brother's interruption, Cassy headed toward her brother, placing her hand in his, and led her away. Much to her utter annoyance, Sterling followed. She would have to see if Devon was around, the younger brother wasn't as bad as Sterling. Devon was more into his looks and being the model, he was meant to be with his perfect physique. Which was why most of the women flocked around him. Still as dense as Devon was, he was decent, so far.

As Brayden led her through the crowd, Cassy cast a pleading glance his way. As they stopped, the woman's expression went ice cold because Sterling had wrapped his arm around her, possessive as ever.

Brayden felt sorry for his sister and would love to help her in any way possible, which was partially why he brought her over to a small group of people. The group included Alanna, Cassy's own best friend and a well-dressed man, who happened to be one of his oldest and dearest friends. "Caz, I want you to meet an old and good friend of mine..." Trailing off, Brayden moved aside and there stood the Phantom man.

Cassy stared at the man in shock. How did Brayden know him? Who was he? She was desperate to know. Alanna was smiling at her as if she knew already and it annoyed her. Why was she always left out of things? Her gaze turned to Brayden, who had paused for dramatic effect, and she rolled her eyes impatiently.

"This is Griffin. Griffin Morgan." Cassy heard her brother say.

Suddenly her world came spiraling down on top of her. He was a Morgan? Cassy didn't pay much attention to the rest of what her brother was saying after that. She just felt sick. He was a Morgan? Why didn't he say anything before? Why did she feel so completely and utterly betrayed by this phantom dressed man as well as her brother? Her anger with the man grew to the point where she reached out and slapped him. It was an impulsive thing to do, but she couldn't help herself. She couldn't stand the Morgan's! Hated every single last one of them to be exact. They were all liars, backstabbers, thieves, murderers, con artists, and moronic asses!

Sterling laughed at Cassy's reaction to his younger brother, but he did not expect the young woman to run off like she did. All three men stood gaping after Cassy in shock as she rushed to the door in the opposite side of the room, shoving people out of her way.

"What happened?" Asked Griffin while rubbing his pained cheek.

Brayden shrugged, "I don't know. I should go talk to her." He paused and his teal eyes turned to his friend. "I'm sorry, Griff. I didn't expect her to do that. If you need anything for that... feel free to ask for some..." He paused and thought, "ice maybe. Whatever you need."

Before Griffin could respond his older brother spoke up. "It was you, ya ass." The drunk Sterling poked his youngest brother in the chest. "Ya pissed her off an' she hates ya now... I should know... she's hated me f'rever..."

Griffin glared at his brother and then turned to Brayden. "Honestly Brayden I'm fine. Can I talk to her?"

"I don't think that would be such a good idea... let me talk to her." Brayden said and then stepped away from the siblings. He then turned back to his friend, "Again, I'm really sorry Griffin."

The Phantom dressed man, smiled and rubbed his cheek again, "She sure can pack a wallop, Bray."

Sterling nodded, "I know..."He added cryptically before he walked off to get himself another beer.
