Maya-Secrets in the Shadows

I sigh. This is boring. Really boring. Me and Alhaitham are just walking. And walking. And walking, and I've about lost my patience.

My name is Maya and I am currently helping Alhaitham with his duties at the Academia, by filling in for the scribe while he's the acting grand sage.

"Where are we going?" I finally ask Alhaitham

Alhaitham immediately stops walking. Then we exchange a glance and we both realize. None of us know where we're going. Then all of a sudden we see Kazuha running at us with his sword.

"Get behind me." Alhaitham says, sort of pushing me behind him.

Alhaitham and Kazuha start fighting with their elemental skills and I get so caught up watching them that I don't notice Raiden coming behind me. Luckily Alhaitham does.

"MAYA LOOK OUT!" Alhaitham screams at me, and I turn around just in time to see Raiden doing her burst.

She starts to summon her sword, and when she's finished, she strikes at me. I dodge the first few times but then around the 12th time she struck me it hit my arm. It was bleeding really heavily. I could see that after a minute my blood was bright red meaning that it was new. I've lost so much blood already that my body is trying to produce more.

"MAYA NO!" Alhaitham screams again and runs toward me. He reaches me and is about to try and stop my bleeding but I stop him.

"Raiden isn't the only enemy." I say

"But-" Alhaitham begins, but he's cut off

Then Kazuha comes behind Alhaitham and tries to stab him but Alhaitham notices and they continue to fight.

I've had about enough of this. I grab my two blades and start to fight Raiden. I tried to surprise attack her but she detected my movements somehow.

Then I realized I was still bleeding from my arm, and she could see the blood to detect my movements. I quickly pulled a sweater on and continued to fight her, but soon, I realized putting that sweater on was a mistake. For two reasons. Number 1, it was super hot outside, and number two while I was putting on a sweater this gave her the ability to, while I was distracted, grab my katana's and use them to pin my sweater to a nearby tree. This is it. I close my eyes, and wait for the end to come. But before that can happen I feel a shadow over my head and when I open my eyes I see green flying everywhere and green shards shooting them out.

There was also a dome making sure it wouldn't go too high. That's when I realized it was Alhaitham and his elemental burst. He used an umbrella to block the green lines from hitting us. He gives me a tiny smile and I return it.

After the shower of green is over, dendro reactions keep coming out of Raiden. She kept crawling, and struggling to get to her spear, but it was no use. Finally her body gave out and she died right there, her fingertips touching her spear. Just like that, eternity was gone forever.

But this battle isn't over yet. Kazhua. I know he is here. Somewhere waiting to strike. I softly close my eyes and wait. Then I sense it.

"ALHAITHAM!" I shout and jump on the other side of him before striking Kazuha with my blades.

Kazuha falls to the ground and spits out blood from his mouth. Alhaitham steps back, a little shocked from the sudden attack. I look at Kazuha, the glare not leaving my face. Alhaitham could have been killed. I wasn't gonna let that happen again.

"You think you can beat me but you're wrong." Kazuha says suddenly. "I know better swordsmanship than you, you have no chance."

Kazuha gave an evil smile and Alhaitham stepped forward ready to strike him, but I put my hand in front of him.

"This time, I will handle it."

Alhaitham, to my surprise, didn't object to this and stepped back.

"I'm not the one who's injured right now you know...that kind of puts you at a disadvantage." I say to Kazuha.

"Oh, true though, but you're a hydro element." He replies.

"So what if I'm a hydro element, what does that have to do with anything right now?"

Kazuha spits out more blood

"Hydro element is weak, it reacts with everything, it's drinkable too, the archon's way of showing somebody is weak is giving them a hydro vision."

Alhaitham looks mad.

"Even so." Kazuha says. "The real hydro archon is dead, she's weak, like her vision says."

"Excuse you?" Alhaitham says to Kazuha.

If I dont put him at ease...I'm sure I won't like what comes next.

"Hey, it's fine he's not the first to give me this comment." I say to Alhaitham.

That doesn't seem to ease him at all.

"Alhaitham." I said softly, putting a hand on his shoulder. "It's fine really."

Finally he relaxed his shoulders and the tension from his glare was gone.

"Now Kazuha." I say turning my attention back to Kazuha "Hydro may seem to be the weakest element to a lot of people, but in reality, it's actually the strongest, if you know how to use it."

Kazuha got up and drew his sword ready to fight me.

"That's too bad, it's gonna have to end this way." Kazuha says.

I just laugh at this comment, and both Kazuha and Alhaitham look at me with a confused look.

"For you maybe, not me." I said when I had finished laughing.

Then I jumped. I use my element as tiny landing surfaces to hop into the air. When I think I've reached high enough, I jump down and spin in the air with one blade in front and one blade behind. I only spin once.

This is my elemental burst.

"I'm sorry." I say to Kazuha, before using my element on him.

He screams and falls to the floor. When I land, I see his bloodied, broken body sprawled out on the ground.

Why? Looking at Kazuha's dead body, seeing it like that makes me wonder why. Why did the hunger games begin? Why did we have to kill each other? Why couldn't there be peace?

Why?

Why?

I'm so focused on my thoughts that when Alhaitham wraps his arm around me, his hand gently pressed where Raiden struck me to stop the bleeding, I jump.

"S- sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, you just looked traumatized. Are you ok?" He asked me.

I gently rest my head on his shoulder and give him a weak smile before saying,

"Is anybody?"

Soon after I felt dizzy, then I felt myself falling off Alhaitham's shoulder. Then I blacked out.

So this is what happened to Kazuha and Raiden. I mentioned in an earlier chapter that they were dead but, here's that entire thing. If you guys made it this far I just wanna say...TYSM!
