Chloe- in the Dark of the Mist

"Albedo's busy again." Klee says with the sadness clear in her eyes. "Can you come play with me?"

"Of course Klee." I replied. "Albedo is always busy you know...you can always come to me."

"Your way more fun than Albedo is..." Klee says while wrinkling her nose which makes me laugh.

"I'm home." Albedo says through the doorway before shooting Klee a mock serious look. "I heard that by the way."

They both giggle for a moment. Oh how I wish this moment could last forever. Sadly, the moment was cut short. Swallowed by blood and darkness.

I wake up with a sudden gasp for air. What happened?

I look around and see that I'm sitting in a tree, alone. No Albedo. No Klee. Great.

I still can't believe there was ever a time when I was happy. Just thinking about those memories...

"You're so slow Chloe." Sucrose shouts at me as we run through the neighborhood.

Sucrose was Albedo's partner in alchemy and for some reason, Albedo needed me right now.
"Sucrose!" I shout after her while panting. "Slow down!"

"Why don't you speed up then!"

Sucrose continues to run until we get to the door of Albedo's home in Dragonspine. I almost collapsed from exhaustion.

"Don't die yet." Sucrose says to me. "Albedo needs you, I'll be waiting out here."
Sucrose shoves me inside and Albedo greets me with a warm, welcoming smile.

"Hey." He says casually. "You look worn down."

"Blame it on Sucrose, she made me run to get here." I say.

"Of course she did. Have a seat." Albedo smiles at me. "I'll make some hot chocolate."

Albedo and I sat down, drinking hot chocolate, chatting. When I'm with Albedo, I feel like the world melts away. Like it's just us, here in the moment.

"So...you brought me here for a reason right...what is that reason?" I ask Albedo.

"Yeah it's just...um." Albedo stutters.

His face turned completely pink and he avoided making any eye contact with me.

"Spill it." I told him.

"Well...listen I....I've liked you for a long time you know..." He says to me.
"I...I've always...liked you too." I replied.

"So in that case...will you be mine?"

I walk into the dorm building. It's mine and Albedo's first year in college, and it's Klee's first day in 6th grade.

I go to the door of my designated dorm and open it with my key.

I open it and see two girls, one with straight dark brown hair and caramel highlights, one with short brown hair with a light blue streak in her hair. There were also two males, one with greyish hair and teal streaks, the other had blonde hair with dirty blonde ends.

"Oh....hi." I say to them nervously.

The one with caramel highlights took off her headphones and extended her hand.

"My name is Maya."

I smile at the gesture.

"My name is Chloe."

One by one, the others introduced themselves.

"My name is Ame." Said the one with short brown hair.

"I'm Kaveh." The blonde male said cheerfully.

"I'm Alhaitham." Said the grey male keeping a cool tone.

I already know that this year is off to a great start.

"I'm so nervous, I'm shaking." Says Addie as we stand backstage.

"Come on..." I told her. "You're gonna do great trust me."

There was a talent show happening. And my friends, Maya and Addie, were doing a piano duet.
"Come on Addie, just trust yourself."

"I hope all goes well."

The previous talent just finished. They were next.

"Don't worry, you got this." I reassure her before pushing her onto the stage.

"3...2...1...go!" Maya screams as we all fall into the water.

Who knew cliff jumping would be fun? Since it was the end of our first year at college, we all decided to go cliff jumping, although Maya and Kaveh tried to argue against it.

We all make a beeline for the surface of the water as soon as we fall into it and we all made it.

Well not Maya.

It takes her a full five minutes to get to the surface. I still wonder how she's even still alive. When she does come to the surface, she coughs hysterically.

"Wanna do that again?" She asks.

Seriously?

"No more cliff jumping for you Maya." Alhaitham says.

"Seriously Maya? What happened?" I ask her.

"I don't know how to swim." She says with her most innocent smile

"MAYA!" We all scream at her.

"Could have said that earlier!" Ame says.

"It's fine." She says. "I'm alive, which is what matters."

"Hehe...I will admit, it was fun...We should do it again!" Ame says.
"I'm up for it, as long as Maya doesn't do it." Alhaitham says.

"Yeah." Kaveh says while shooting Maya a look. "And Chloe too."

"What?!" I question Kaveh.

"You're violently shivering, let the tough ones do the cliff jumping."

"Ugh...fine" I pout.

"Maybe we should just go back." Maya says.

"Then we can make the boys watch horror movies finally!" Me and Ame say at the same time before laughing.

"Don't worry." Maya says with a smirk. "I have plenty of horror movies online."

"Alright then." I say with a laugh. "You pick which one then."

Perfect. A perfect dinner. Me and Albedo, sitting on a high cliff, under the stars, watching the sunset.

"Chloe? There's...something I want to ask you."

"What is it?" I ask him

"I know...we've already graduated college...so many things have happened since then...cliff jumping, horror movies, sleepovers, making bets on Maya and her twin, Tighnari...but there's one thing left to complete everything"

"Spill it." I said to him.

Next thing you know, Albedo is getting down on one knee.

"Albedo?"

"Chloe." He says. "Will you marry me?"

All those memories...I still wonder....did they happen? Or was it all a dream? I wonder...if my life's a dream...if I close my eyes...will everything fade away?
