26 ~ July

The sound of a ringtone shocks me awake and I shoot upright, my eyes thick from sleep. As I look around quickly at the small wooden room realization dawns on me.

I'm with Brett.

As he begins to stir under the covers I quickly grab hold of my phone from the bedside table, answering it.

"Hello?" I whisper, rubbing my eyes with my spare hand.

"Savannah?" Zara's voice is frantic, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah I..."

"Where are you?" She cuts me off, "We were so scared..."

"I'll be there in a bit. I promise." I hastily respond, "I'm fine." I finish, hanging up and grabbing my dress from the floor.

"Where do you think you're going?" The deep, husky voice startles me and I whirl around to see Brett sitting up, smiling at me.

"I have to get back to the girls Brett, remember? I left them to come here and I didn't tell anyone!" I reply, pulling the dress over my head as he watches. "I'm lucky they didn't call Elle!"

"Not yet." He smirks, reaching out and grabbing hold of my arm. I can't help but smile as I fall back onto the bed, him leaning over me.

"Brett I have to!" I protest as he begins to kiss my neck. My body automatically responds and I tilt my head to the side, allowing him full access as he begins to move downwards.

"You are not leaving..." He replies, his voice low.

My body is on fire, already overcome with need as I glance up at him, his eyes pinned on mine. He leans down, his hand sliding down the length of my body, down the valley between my breasts as he pecks my lips slightly, a chaste kiss that leaves me wanting more. Before I can utter a word he slips his finger inside me, sending me straight to heaven as I gasp. His lips meet mine again, a deep, sensual kiss as I squirm under him, desperate for more. Without warning he slides another two digits in and I moan with pleasure, gripping onto the bed sheets. As he turns to pay attention to my chest I glance up at the ceiling, the homely, wooden slats all that's in my line of vision as I am pinned to the bed by my own desire.

I am overcome with the need to pleasure him as he does I, having so far always been the receiver of any pleasure during our times together. Before I lose my nerve I reach down between us, grabbing hold of the buttons on his jeans, desperately trying to undo them as I uncontrollably writhe beneath him. He trails kisses back up my body, up my throat and along my jawline as my eyes close from the unbearable delight.

"You don't have to." He manages, his breathing labored. In response I smirk, somehow managing to convey confidence that I definitely do not possess, whilst inside I am petrified, not knowing what to do. Everyone knows that Brett is experienced in the bedroom, and he therefore knows what feels good or bad. For all I know, he could be bad at this, the other men in the world ten times better but I can't even begin to comprehend that idea as I writhe beneath him.

"I want to." I reply, breathlessly as he continues to pleasure me, never stopping to take a break.

As Brett groans into my mouth he shifts, allowing me to move his jeans out of the way as I give myself a silent pep talk before sliding my hands below his briefs. Not knowing what to expect, other than the vague shape, I am shocked by the size, my cheeks reddening as I glance up at him. He smirks slightly at my reaction before lowering his mouth back to my nipples and causing me to momentarily forget my mission as I gasp for air, arching myself into him as he quickens his fingers, going deeper than ever before, pushing into my core as far as he can. I moan at the sensation before wrapping my hand around him, desperate to send him into the ecstasy that he seems to have me in. Thinking of everything that Becky has ever told me, I begin to move my hand up and down. Throwing his head back instantly, his eyes closing and his mouth dropping open I smile slightly, knowing that he's enjoying it, riding his own high until we climax together.

Oh Savannah, you little sex maniac.

"That was..." Brett trails off as we collapse back onto the bed and I giggle in response. Running his hand through my hair, he smooths it away from my face, the gesture making me smile and I close my eyes, feeling content in his arms. "Really Sav, that was amazing."

"I bet you say that to all the girls."

"Hey!" He exclaims, objecting loudly, "I don't," He assures.

"I really have to go," I groan, sitting up and pulling away from him.

"Are you sure?"

"These girls probably think I'm in danger, the amount of time it's taking me to return!" I retort as he moves to the edge of the bed, placing his hands on my waist and pulling me against him.

"Maybe you are."

"All the more reason to leave."

"Fine. I guess you can go." He agrees, and I step away from his arms. "I'll see you soon?"

"Yeah." I reply, "Definitely." I smile, picking my bag up and turning away from him. I definitely want to see him soon. Very soon.

I send him one more wide smile before leaving. As I walk over to my car I am filled with a plethora of emotions, the realization of how far mine and Brett's relationship has changed overnight hitting me. I wanted it and right now, I have no regrets but Sensible Savannah is beginning her resurrection, and she's certainly going to have her doubts about what just went down. Literally.

Sitting inside my car I bite my lip as I stare out the windshield. I am still riding on a high, still so happy but it's overshadowed by the question at the forefront of my mind. What the hell was I thinking when I went to Chris' cabin last night? How do I explain this to the girls?

Good luck Savannah...

*~*~*

"Hello?" I call out quietly as I open the front door. Maybe they went back to bed...

"Sav!" Zara shoots out the living room, her eyes wide.

"Oh god Sav, we were so worried!" Becky joins her, Georgia hot on her heels.

"I'm so sorry," I babble, dropping my bag on the floor as Zara grabs me into her arms. "Honestly I thought I'd be gone for an hour maximum!" I try to justify, "There's no excuse, I'm so stupid, I'm sorry!" I babble as Zara pushes me down on the couch, Becky slouching down next to me.

"So where were you exactly?" Georgia queries. I bite my lip, looking down at my lap and fiddling with the hem of my dress.

"Ummm..."

"Spit it out girl!" Becky orders and I grimace. Like a band aid, right?

"I was with Brett." I let out quickly, the words falling from my mouth.

"Brett?" Georgia's eyebrows furrow questioningly.

"Do I need to beat him up?" Becky snaps, crossing her arms.

"No!" I can't help but giggle, "No, it's fine." I reassure them, "He was upset after his graduation because of his parents, so he just wanted some company." I explain.

"Sav!" Georgia exclaims, her eyes wide.

"I said no initially!"

"That makes it okay then." She rolls her eyes, crossing her arms as she looks at me.

"This is supposed to be a no judgement zone!" I protest, holding my arms up in surrender.

"It is!" Becky assures me, glaring at Georgia. "Isn't it?"

"Yes of course." Georgia replies, grabbing hold of my hand.

"So what happened?"

"I went over there..."

"To his house?" Zara cuts me off, a smile on her face.

"No, Chris' cabin." I correct, "I ate a lot of his graduation cake, and we talked about the graduation and his parents."

"And then?" Becky probes, nudging me slightly as she grins.

"What?"

"You were gone all night Sav!" Georgia exclaims, giggling slightly.

"Okay... we may have made out a little." I shrug as Zara squeals.

"Knew it." Georgia smirks.

"That's my girl." Becky grins, clapping her hands with glee. "What?"

"Anything else?" Georgia asks, her eyes wide with curiosity.

"We made out on the bed together. And then we fell asleep." I shrug, looking away from their expectant faces. I see the expression that forms on Becky's face and know that she doesn't believe me, the girl reading me like a book.

"Well be careful." Georgia warns as Zara nods in agreement.

"I will, I promise." I smile.

"Anyone want some breakfast?" Becky asks, jumping up.

"Pancakes?" I question and she rolls her eyes.

"Every damn time Sav! Why don't you try something new?" She groans and I giggle.

"What about bacon? We could have it on top of..." Zara is cut off by the loud ping of my phone, all of them turning towards me, eyes wide.

"Is that him?" Georgia manages and I shrug, digging my phone out and glancing at the screen. My heart jumps at the sight of his name and I quickly open the message, my eyes as wide as theirs as I look up at them.

"He wants to go on a date."

*~*~*

"How was your day?" Brett asks.

Oh, you know, I told my friends about you, then I was cornered by Becky and had to admit that our escapade went further than I'd let on. Then I went home and told my sister the vague details of our 'relationship', before she proceeded to give me 'the talk' and warn me to be careful.

I shrug as the waiter places our food in front of us and Brett thanks him, my mouth salivating at the sight of the food.

"Uneventful." I reply, "Yours?"

"Fine." He shrugs, "My parents left last night."

"They weren't here very..."

"Two nights."

"Oh." I respond, "I'm sorry that you weren't with them."

"I promise I preferred that I spent my night with you," He retorts, smiling as I take a bite of my food, "Alice cried when they left," He sighs, looking down at his plate, "She always does."

"Do they see how sad she gets?"

"I think they see it, but they don't let themselves know it." He says, "If that makes any sense."

"Absolutely." I nod, "My sister does stuff like that. She knows stuff needs sorting or doing. But she'll ignore it until I have to deal with the consequences." I continue, "I know it's not the same but..."

"No, it's nice that you understand." He cuts me off, smiling.

"At least Alice has you."

"Yeah, but what about when I go off to college?" He shakes his head, running his hand through his hair.

"You can still talk to her on the phone and come visit her often," I list reassuringly as I smile at him, "Whatever you do, it'll be more than your parents."

"What if she isn't okay?" Brett scowls, "All alone, with only Ettie."

"She will be fine." I reach over, resting my hand on top of his, "She can live without you. I've never met her and I'm with you a lot of the time. She's fine isn't she?" I retort, "Right now you aren't there. And she's okay." I finish and he smiles.

"I suppose."

"And as harsh as it is, she needs to learn to be without her big brother." I tease, "She'll always know you're here for her."

"She better."

"And you'll see her loads if you go to college in state." I point out, "Is that still your plan?"

"It is. I'm still not entirely sure what to do, or where to go."

"So you're definitely going to college?"

"My parents don't care about much. But me going to college, is probably one of their highest priorities."

"Really?"

"It's important that their son gets a degree." He scoffs, "It makes the family name look good."

"That's so unfair."

"I'm used to it." He shrugs, "Don't worry yourself."

"So... what are your plans for the summer?" I ask, changing the subject stuffing some more food in.

"I'm going to Brazil in a few weeks with the football team."

"Oh." I exclaim, surprised. "Sounds... good."

"Hopefully." He nods before shooting me a cheeky smile. "I'll miss you though."

"You will?"

"Yeah. I can't seem to get rid of you." He teases.

"Gee, thanks."

"Always a pleasure." He smirks and I roll my eyes.

"How long are you going for?" I question.

"Three weeks." Brett replies, "Don't miss me too much."

"I am sure I can find someone to entertain me during that time." I reply, slowly putting the fork back in my mouth.

"You wouldn't dare."

"Challenge accepted." I grin teasingly. He shakes his head at me, eyes darkening in warning.

"Brett? Is that you?" The high pitched voice makes me want to throw up my meal, "Who's this?" Ashley asks, stopping beside the table. I slowly glance up, taking in the sight of her tiny body clothed in a tight red mini dress as she smiles patronizingly down at me, "Sarah?"

"Savannah." I retort.

"Why are you...."

"Mind your own business Ashley." I snap, looking down at my food.

"Are you seeing each other?" She coos, looking between Brett and I.

"What if we are?" I look back up, my tone full of distaste.

"I wasn't talking to you." She retorts, crossing her arms, the fake smile still pinned on her face.

"How are you Ashley?" Brett asks, leaning forward onto the table. I narrow my eyes at the gesture.

"Better now." She smiles and I roll my eyes, digging my fork into my dinner and continuing to shovel it in.

"Who are you here with?" Brett replies.

"My family. It's my brother's birthday remember?"

"Yeah I..." He trails off.

"You were supposed to come." She grins, "No matter." She giggles, looking down at his plate. "Did you order the Lasagna like normal?"

"I didn't. I went for the Arabiatta pasta instead." He laughs in response.

"I never thought I'd see the day you'd try something new," She replies, glancing over towards me, "Still, I guess sometimes you have to try something different, just to realize that the first choice was so much better," She smirks, Brett oblivious as he picks his fork back up. "Enjoy. See you later Brett."

"Bye." He smiles as she walks off. I shake my head slightly, looking away and gazing around the Italian restaurant.

"Well then..."

"Are you done with your garlic bread?" Brett interrupts, gazing at my plate. Sorry, what?

"Absolutely not! Hands off!" I snap and he grins.

"Come on, share!"

"I don't know what you're used to, but I eat my food. And I enjoy every bit." I scoff and he sits back, watching as I pick up the next slice, taking a huge bite.

"You're really gonna eat it all..."

"Get used to it Winters." I grin, "You won't see any spare food if I'm around."

"Apparently so." He watches as I continue to eat, "I've never lived like this before."

"Do the girls you normally date order a side salad?" I snort and he raises an eyebrow. I really need to borrow some ladylike manners from somewhere.

"Something like that." He smirks.

"Do they leave you some of their salad?" I chuckle and he smirks.

"Sometimes." He confirms, "Most of the time they order a side of fries and never touch them."

"So you get a whole side of fries?" I ask and he nods, "That sounds amazing."

"Most of the time it's the best part of the date." He nods, agreeing. "You'll have to impress me another way." He winks and I choke on my food.

"I will not be impressing you."

"You won't?" He raises an eyebrow, and I shake my head.

"You either like me or you don't." I shrug, impressed with how calm I sound. "I'm not going to bend over backwards and beg you to like me."

"I can bend you over something."

"Seriously?" I exclaim, eyes wide. Watching him sit back and laugh I can't help but smile at him, never having seen him this laid back or at ease without a care in the world, not like the usual 'perfect' Brett. He's beautiful.

"What?" He retorts cheekily.

"You are unbelievable."

"Thank you." He grins, sitting forward, "You haven't said no though." He points out.

"No!" I exclaim.

"Alright, not tonight." He winks and I shake my head, glaring playfully at him. How is he so smug, so cocky, yet there is no-one else I would want to be sat on a date with?

"Are you all done here?" The waiter interrupts and I nod hastily, "Would you like the dessert menu?"

"Absolutely." I nod and Brett grins.

"Right away."

"I should have known you'd want dessert, considering how fast you wolfed that cake down yesterday." Brett comments as the waiter walks away.

"And proud of it."

"What are you thinking of getting?" Brett asks, moments after looking at the menu. I quickly scan the options, my eyes settling on one thing, and one thing only.

"Brownie."

"That was a fast choice."

"My Mom used to make brownies for Elle and I the last Friday of every month." I explain, putting the menu down. "It was her special treat for us." I continue before looking down at my lap. "The recipe died with her." I manage, "Whenever I have brownie, it's..." I trail off.

"Go on." Brett's encourages, his voice soft. I look up to find him gazing intently at me, his eyes full of curiosity and care.

"It's like she's with me." I smile slightly, "It's my favorite thing to eat."

"Does it get easier?" He asks softly, "The longer they've been gone?"

"No." I shake my head, "The pains dulls, but it never hurts any less when I think about them."

"I'm so sorry Sav." He reaches over, grabbing hold of my hand.

"It's okay." I smile slightly, "What could you have done?"

"Did they get the person who caused it?"

"No." I shake my head, looking down at the hem on my dress, "They never found the car, never found the person." I look back up at him, "They're out there somewhere, free as a bird."

"Hey." He reaches over, his voice soft, holding his palm up and I place my spare hand in his. He gently squeezes both hands before rubbing his thumb along them soothingly. "It's okay." He reassures softly and I smile at him, the comforting, kind Brett that seems to understand and care, seems to want to know me. And I mean really, really know me.

"Any dessert?" The waiter interrupts and Brett grins before looking up at the waiter.

"We'll have two brownies, please." He grins.
