Doomsday or not; I am staying in bed
I am riding behind Aragorn, on my own horse. Five hundred foot soldiers are walking behind us and also my fellowship and Éomer are riding beside me. We are going straight through Mordor. And to be honest, I am trying to keep nerves under control. It is like fireworks are exploding in my stomach. And the words of Saruman are repeating in my head; Princess.
I am a princess?
I feel Aragorn looking at me and I know he is worried. But I can't show him anything. This is why I am here. To save him.

After a while we arrive at the black gates of Mordor.
I thought that it was a more frightened site to see. But we are standing on dead land, looking at a big black gate.
This is not so bad.
'Where are they?' Pip says, sounding wary. No one answers, our wizard is looking alert, nodding almost invisible to my ranger.
Aragorn lets his horse ride forward and my fellowship – and Éomer – follow him. Quickly I do the same as we galloping towards the black gates. We stop very close by. 'Let the lord of the Black Land come forth; let justice be done upon him' Aragorn shouts. Behind the gates an answer can be heard; the chanting and clanging of the armour of thousands. A creature stands on top of the gates. 'My Master Sauron the Great bids thee welcome' He addresses us. He is horrific to look at. 'Is there any in this rout with authority to treat with me?' He states. Gandalf rides up to Aragorn. 'We do not come to treat with Sauron, faithless and accursed. Tell your master this. The armies of Mordor must disband. He is to depart these lands, never to return' The creature laughs. 'Aha! Old Greybeard! I have a token I was bidden to show thee' He holds Frodo's mithril shirt in the air. 'Frodo!' Pippin cries out and the creature throws the mithril shirt at our wizard. 'Frodo!' Pippin cries out again. 'Silence!' Gandalf says angry.
'The Halfling was dear to thee I see. Know that he suffered greatly at the hands of his host. Who would've thought one so small could endure so much pain? And he did Gandalf, he did' The creature adds. I see tears beginning to form in Gandalf's eyes.
No!
Again Aragorn moves forward with his horse. 'And who is this? Isildur's heir? It takes more to make a King than a broken Elvish blade' The creature looks at me. 'This is what my masters says about you; Your name means princess and that you shall be. My master wants you as his bride, the Valar brought you here for a reason and that is it!' He spits.
No..
'Do you think you can save him?' The creature laughs at me. 'She already has!' Aragorn shouts and sweeps his sword out and beheads the creature with one movement. 'I guess that concludes negotiations' Gimli says dryly. I can't help but chuckle. Aragorn moves towards us. 'I do not believe it. I will not' I can hear the emotion in his voice. And with that the massive gates begin to open.
Holy F- What was all that about?
The gates swing open en the army of Mordor comes marching out. Everywhere I look, I see orcs, dirty, ugly looking creatures.
We are so dead.
'Pull back! Pull back!' Aragorn shouts.
So it is only my name, that they were calling me princess. How stupid. So no bigger meaning...
'Sara!' Aragorn screams my name and I come back to my senses. I turn my horse and gallop back towards our small army. I jump of my horse and give him a slap on his butt, so he gallops away. He can be free.
Some men behind me are losing their nerve. 'Aragorn!' I scream as our men are losing all hope. Aragorn meets my eyes and gallops in front of our army. 'Hold your ground - hold your ground! Sons of Gondor - of Rohan ... my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of Men fails; when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship; but it is not this day – an hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the Age of Men comes crashing down - but it is not this day!! This day we fight! By all
that you hold dear on this good earth - I bid you stand!' He holds his sword in the air. 'Men of the West!' He shouts.
Hot damn – that is what you call a motivation speech.
When I look away from him, I shiver. Because we are surrounded by hundreds of orcs. 'Are you scared?' Legolas asks me quietly as he lays his hand on my shoulder for comfort. I smile at my friend. 'No, I have this terrified look on my face cause I'm having so. Much. Fun!' Legolas suckles. 'Always optimistic' But his smile falters for a more serious face. 'Thank you Sara. For being there for me, for us. For our friendship'
What the heck is this this elf doing?
His he really thinking we are going to die?
'Legolas' I embrace him. 'Have hope' I kiss him on his forehead. 'I am the one who should thank you'
'Never thought I'd die fighting side by side with an elf and a lassie' I hear Gimli say, his voice faltering by the last word. 'What about side by side with friends?' Legolas says quietly. Gimli looks at him and then at me. 'Aye – I could do that' I smile at him, our grumpy dwarf. I look to Merry and Pippin, not bigger than children, but still, they are standing here. On this battlefield. 'We're all going to die today' Pippin says with a heavy voice. 'If that sort of optimism isn't what gets a girl up in the morning, I don't know what does' I reply, earning a chuckle from both of them.
Good.
The orcs are waiting, waiting on the first move. So I walk up to Aragorn, laying my hand on his broad shoulder and face him. I kiss him passionately, knowing that if it is my fate to save him, I have to die at one point.
And it is okay. If I die to save the man I love. It is okay. I release him and I know, no words spoken, but I know he loves me and he knows I love him.
'For Frodo' I whisper. He has tears in his eyes as he nods and kisses me again. Then he turns to our friends, sword tightly in his hand.
'For Frodo' He says and raises his sword, charging forward.
I want to follow him, but a shout can be heard and Merry and Pippin are running after Aragorn. And with a mighty battle shout, the others follow suit.
I run towards the thousands of orcs, beheading and stabbing them. Mostly I am trying to kill them, I have to look like a maniac right know.
I duck to the ground as I hear the hideous screech of the Nazgûl rends the air. I am frozen as they fly in the air, trying to get one of our one. But another screech fills the air.
A giant eagle, smashes into the beast and his claws ripping into the hideous monster's neck!
'Eagles?'
More eagles appears and I can hear Pippin shouting. 'The Eagles are coming! The Eagles are coming!'
I feel a pain shooting through my arm and as look to my right. A smiling orc has stabbed me. 'Woman! You are going to die!' He screams.
Oh I am not!
But before I can stab him, or kill him. Aragorn is there grabs him by his throat. 'I dare you to touch her again' He hisses and stabs the orc in his heart.
Do they have hearts?
'I have it under control!' I say, turning around and killing another orc. 'I saw that' Aragorn answers as he slips his arm around my waist and pulling me in for a quick kiss.
That also new, I never got the chance to say that I am kissed on a battlefield.
'Be save' He whispers as he releases me. I nod and kill every orc in my path. Suddenly in the corner of my eye, I see Legolas running like a mad man towards something.
Or someone.
Aragorn is laying on the ground and a huge ugly creature is trying to crush him with his enormous feet.
'No!' I scream as I run towards him. I'm catching up with Legolas and I jump with a battle roar on the creatures back. Stabbing him in the neck with my sword.
It screams from the pain and moves wildly.
But behind me, ear crushing sounds can be heard and fall to the ground. The creature running towards the black gates.
In seconds Aragorn and Legolas are by my side. Together we watch a big, dark tower crumble to the ground. 'Sauron' Legolas whispers. The black gates collapse in a huge cloud of ash and the orcs are fleeing in all directions but they are swallowed up when the ground drops below them.
A huge mountain explodes, it has to be mount doom.
So Frodo and Sam..
I look at Aragorn and Legolas and I see the tears in their eyes.
They couldn't survive that, no one can!
I want to stand, but I collapse immediately. 'Sara!' Aragorn catches me and his eyes grow wide. 'Gandalf!' Legolas yells in panic.
What? I look down at my body and I don't see my feet.
Dust or sand is flying towards the sky, floating in the wind.
Am I disappearing?
Pain shoots through my body.
'No, no, no' Aragorn mumbles as he holds me closer. 'Sara!' The whole fellowship is around me. 'What did he do to you!' Gimli shouts in despair. 'Nothing Gimli' Gandalf sighs. 'She did what she was sent for'
Silent tears are rolling down my cheeks. 'I love you' I say, sounding more like a whisper. I want to bring Aragorn closer, but I don't have any strength left.
'Sara!' Aragorn shouts, my heart is breaking as his voice falters.
'I promise that I search for you, I promise that I come back!' I say. He kisses me with all his might and I try to hold on into him. But the pain is unbearable. Blackness is all I see.
∞
'Sara! O Please open your eyes!'
Aragorn?
I cough and my chest feels heavy. 'Be careful, She has a lot of water in her lungs'
Water?
I open my eyes and look straight in the eyes of Jason.
