Can't Wait To Tell This Story To My Grandchildren.
They are both gone. Gandalf and Pippin. Now only five of us are left from the ten. One is dead, two are off to Gondor and two are somewhere in the wilderness, trying to save us all.
Sounds good.
It is dawn and the sun is coming up from beyond the mountains. I sit with Legolas, Gimli and Merry in the Hall of Meduseld, trying not to go crazy. I mean we are waiting for like eleven days now. And still no word from Gandalf.
I look up when a bell begins to toll urgently. Rumor can be heard from the people who are starting to wake and I see that Théoden and his men are looking to each other. In seconds the door burst open and Aragorn runs into the Hall.
He is so damn hot.
'The beacons of Minas Tirith! The beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid!' Théoden looks startled at him. We all stand up from our seats, waiting at what the kings is going to say. The tension is horrible.
Théoden lowers his head and slowly he rises it again, looking at Aragorn in the eye. 'Then Rohan will answer. Muster the Rohirrim!'
In a blink of an eye, everyone is shouting and walking around to prepare for war.
War.
I am already dressed in my armour, my breastplate and my forearm protectors. I have my sword in my sheath and my bag with supplies already next to me. I look to the boys, we are ready to go.

Because there is no time to waste, the five of us are running towards the stables, where I run into Éowyn. She is putting on her ridding gloves. 'You ride with us?' Éowyn turns to me and smiles. 'Yes, just to the encampment. It's tradition for the women in the Court to farewell the Men' She says. Aragorn next to me smiles and reaches past her. He lifts a cover to reveal a sword, strapped to the side of the saddle of her horse. Éowyn deftly pulls the cover back down and looks back at us. 'The Men have found their Captain – they will follow you into battle, even to death' She says softly and I now she is also looking at me. 'You have given us hope' She says quietly and turns to mount her horse. I reach out to her, to say something. But Aragorn takes my hand and pushes me towards my own horse.
He is right, I have to worry on my own problems now.
I mount my horse and together with, Gimli, Legolas, Éowyn and Aragorn, we ride out of the stables and ride towards the gate where the King is waiting. Éomer stops next to him and calls to the assembled soldiers. 'Now is the hour! Riders of Rohan -Oaths you have taken. Now, fulfill
them all - For Lord and land!' He shouts and off we go, following them to our doom. Or fate..
We thunder through the plains of Rohan, towards Dunharrow in the mountains. It takes us two days to get there, but when we arrive at the encampment, all I see is men and horses. Théoden stops his horse before an important looking soldier, so we all stop.
Great.
My horse is restless and weary. Like I am.
'Grimbold, how many?' Théoden ask. The man bows his head for the king. 'I bring five hundred Men from the Westfold, My Lord' Another man steps forward. 'We have three hundred more from Fenmarch, Théoden King' Théoden nods and moves, so we ride further. But because I ride behind him, I can see the grim on his face. 'Where are the riders from Snowbourn?' I hear him say quietly to Gamling. 'None have come, My Lord' Is his answer. Again we stop by a plateau and we can look over the encampment. Aragorn rides forward so his is next to the king. 'Six thousand spears ... less than half of what I'd hoped for' Théoden says quietly but still loud enough for us to hear. 'Six thousand will not be enough to break the lines of Mordor'
Always optimistic Aragorn.
'More will come' Théoden speaks as Aragorn opens his mouth to speak again. 'Every hour lost hastens Gondor's defeat. We have till dawn. Then we must ride!' The king nods, realizing what Aragorn is saying. Horses can be heard, whinny loudly in the distance. Also my own horse feels restless.
My friends and I are get tents assigned and soon I walk with Legolas and Gimli through the camp. Aragorn disappeared an hour ago, or so I think. Legolas looks at a group of Rohan soldiers, they sit quiet and hunched, no one is speaking. Éomer, who is unsaddling his horse, sees is also. 'The horses are restless ... and the Men are quiet' Legolas states. Éomer looks up. 'They grow nervous in the shadow of the mountain' He says and I let my eyes travel to a row of ancient standing stones that mark the entrance to a road, leading away from the encampment and into the mountain.
A shiver runs op my spine as the wind is blowing around me.
'That road there - where does that lead?' Gimli asks, clearly having the same feeling as me. 'It is the road to the Dimholt... The door under the mountain' Legolas replies.
Of course, the Elf knew.
And why didn't he tell it us sooner?
'None who venture there ever return' Éomer says. 'That mountain is evil' He mumbles under his breath and looking away from the mountain.
Seriously, a group grown up men, are afraid of a tiny mountain?
'Aragorn!' Gimli shouts suddenly and I look towards the road, where Aragorn is standing. 'Aragorn!' I shout, but he doesn't hear me. 'Aragorn!' Gimli's rough voice seems to wake him up from the state he is in. Aragorn turns around and looks at us. When our eyes meet, he smiles a little.
'Let's find some food' Gimli yells at him, what earns a chuckle from me and Legolas. But I have to admit, I can eat a whole pig. Aragorn casts another look back at the ancient stones before he walks over to us. I grab his hand and intertwine our fingers. He looks at me and smiles, but the smiles doesn't reach his eyes.
What the matter with him?
After diner, we all bid each other goodnight. As Aragorn kisses my forehead, so he can walk to his own tent, I stop him. 'What's on your mind?' I say quietly, looking into his eyes. 'I-' He mumbles, but he looks away and frees himself from my grip. 'Go to sleep Mellamin' He says and walks towards his tent.
What, the actual...
Do I want to scream right know?
Yes.
Am I going to?
No..
He doesn't love me anymore!
With the feeling I am defeated, I walk towards my own tent and lay down on the make shift bed. But sleep will not come, Aragorn haunts my thought. But a sound outside makes me freeze in thought. I slip out of bed and walk barefoot outside. Aragorn is making his way to the tent of the king! I follow him quickly and make sure, he doesn't notice me. When he goes inside the tent, I seek my place behind a pillar of tent and press my ear against the canvas. 'I take my leave' I hear Théoden say and I hear his footsteps fade away.
'My Lord Elrond' Aragorn says suddenly in awe.
Lord Elrond? What does the Elf here?
'I come on behalf of one whom I love' He says with a pained voice.
Who?
'Arwen is dying'
'She stayed?' Aragorn asks, his voice is low..
Why did she stay? She told me she didn't love Aragorn..
'She stayed because she loves the Elf, whom is as Brother to you. She stayed because she knew you would take up your birthright. She stayed because she knew you and Sara are meant to be together and she wouldn't miss a thing of it'
She stayed because of me?
'She will not long survive the evil that now spreads from Mordor. The light of the Evenstar is failing. As is Sara's. I know you love her Aragorn, but the tasks she was given is related to you, so if you don't succeed, she will die. As Sauron's power grows, her strength wanes. Arwen's and Sara's life are now tied to the fate of the Ring. The Shadow is upon us, Aragorn, the end has come' Lord Elrond states.
Wait... What?
O God, No.
'It will not be our end, but his' Aragorn hisses angry. 'You ride to war, but not to victory. Sauron's armies march on Minas Tirith - this you know - but in secret he sends another force which will attack from the river. A fleet of Corsair ships sails from the South. They'll be in the city in two days...You're outnumbered, Aragorn. You need more men'
Thanks for the warning Lord Elrond...
'There are none' Aragorn growls. 'There are those who dwell in the mountain' Lord Elrond says quietly and on the moment I hear him say it, a sudden wind rushes through and around the tent. I shiver from the sudden cold. 'Murderers, traitors - You would call upon them to fight? They believe in nothing. They answer to no-one' Aragorn says in a low voice. 'They will answer to the King of Gondor!' Lord Elrond states. I can hear a sword draw from its sheath, the metal sounds ringing in my ears. 'Andúril, flame of the West, forged from the Shards of Narsil' Lord Elrond says.
The sword from my vision!
'Sauron will not have forgotten the Sword of Elendil! The blade that was broken shall return to Minas Tirith!' Aragorn says in awe. 'The man who can wield the power of this sword can summon to him an army more deadly than any that walks this earth. Put aside the Ranger - become who you were born to be - take the Dimholt road' Lord Elrond almost demands. A heave silence follows. 'Ónen i-Estel Edain.' (I give hope to Men) Lord Elrond speaks quietly.
'Ú-chebin estel anim.' (I keep none for myself) Aragorn replies. I can hear that the sword is re-sheathed and footsteps going out of the tent. I run as hard as I can back to my tent. He is going! With lightning speed I put my boots and armour on and take my sheath and fastened it on my belt. I check if I have everything and run out of my tent, searching for Aragorn. I see him, making Brego ready for leaving. 'Aragorn!' I shout. He looks up in shock. 'Wait, I am going with you!'
'Sara? How did you know?'
'I heard you leave your tent and followed you' Aragorn looks at me. 'So you heard everything..' He states in a low voice.
'Yes'
'Then you know, where I go, it is too dangerous for you'
'Do you know the task the Valar have given me?' I hiss at him. 'To protect the king!'
'And the king is here'
'No you dumb fool! He is standing in front of me!' I yell, my anger and fear taking the best of me. He looks dumb folded..
'You are here, because you have to protect me?'
'Aye, ironical isn't it? The man I fell in love with' Aragorn steps quickly forward and closes the gap between us, kissing me with a fire I never felt. He steps away and opens his mouth to say something, but footsteps behind us, stops him. 'Why are you doing this?' Éowyn hisses, looking at the both of us. 'The war lies to the east; you cannot leave on the eve of battle. You cannot abandon the Men!' She says with a angry voice. 'Éowyn' Aragorn tries to reason with her. 'We need you here-' Her voice falters. 'Why have you come?' I ask her while I turn around to face her. 'Do you not know?' She asks hesitantly. Aragorn looks at her and back at me.
What the actual F Éowyn. What are you trying to say?
Hands off, he is mine.
'It is but a shadow and a thought that you love ... I cannot give you what you seek' Aragorn says sadly as Éowyn steps back and looks angry but also with sadness at me. Then she turns away and walks away through the direction of her tent. 'Get you horse Mellamin, I wait at the stones.' I nod at him and give him a quick kiss before I run away.
