Venissa woke up at 9 in the morning. Thankfully, she didn't have to work today. She lazily did her daily routine.She went downstairs."Good morning,Ven!"Her mother said,pouring milk into her bowl."Good morning mum and dad."Venissa said,cheerfully.Her father simply grinned his toothy grin at her and went back to his paper.Her mother pushed the bowl towards her."There is something we need to talk about."her mother said.

Venissa's POV

I knew where this was going.College."Venissa,you need to decide what you want to do in your life.You can't work in an ice cream parlor your entire life."My mum said.I stared at the cornflakes in my bowl.I wish my life was as easy as yours."Don't glare at the cornflakes like that!"Mom said,laughing at my antics."I don't know mom.I just need more time,I guess."Mom and Dad glanced at each other and nodded.Mom smiled at me and said,"Very well then.Take your time.We will support whatever decision you make."I smiled at my parents and hugged them.I washed my bowl and went outside to get some fresh air.

POV over

Something was nagging at Venissa.It was as though something was telling her to go to the park.She absentmindedly walked towards the park.When she reached there,she saw all the benches were full,except one on which there was a man in a black tracksuit,looking at the ground.She went and sat beside him,keeping a safe distance.She was currently in her own little world,or she would have started a conversation with him.A "Hi!" from the man next to him made her come back to the real world."Hello."She said pleasantly.She turned to look at him.She gasped as she looked at his face.Those eyes,they were the same.Deep blue eyes which held wisdom and experience.His eyes looked old,yet,his face was young.She was puzzled and said,"You are the man I saw yesterday,right?"He nodded.He took a deep breath and looked straight into her eyes as he started to speak through telepathy."I come from a very far away land called Zonama. Zonama is not a city, but its main attraction is its college. The Xuhuan college. We train teens with unknown and powerful powers.We help them recognize those powers. We get a hundred of them every 100 years. Venissa,you are one of the hundred."Venissa's eyes widened and her jaw hung open.Powers?In her?"You see,every hundred years,a disaster occurs on the Earth. Volcanoes erupt,seas flood the land,mysterious figures attack the land,and vines grow everywhere,threatening to kill all living beings on the Earth."The man said,still through telepathy.She nodded.She had heard about this disaster during a history lesson.But learning that she would be one of the people who would save humans from this disaster?It was unbelievable.Yet,her heart was telling her to go with the man.She somehow knew this was her destiny.What fate had for her.She knew she had to go,and anyway,she was used to doing crazy things just because her heart told her to do so."I understand that feeling. It is up to you to decide who you will listen to.Your heart,or your brain."The man said. The answer was clear.She would do it.Anything for the safety of her parents and friends.Plus,it wouldn't hurt to find new powers inside you.She met the man's eyes.The man said,slowly,"So,will you come with me?"Venissa took a deep breath,and said,"Yes."The man smiled at her knowingly and said,"Well then,pack up and say goodbye to your folks.Tell them that you have found a college that is willing to take you in but you must leave now in order to reach there in time.Tell them the college's name,Xuhuan,that is in...some faraway city,and that they can write to you every month on this address.I give you only an hour's time.Go, and meet he here after an hour.."She took the slip from the man waved at him and he waved back.She reached home."Uh mom..Hi...I um...sort of...err got accepted in this college called the Xuhuan,that is in a city far away from here.I need to go to the station in an hour's time,so can you help me pack.Oh,and this is the address you can send a letter to me every month."Venissa wrote on a paper.Her mother was not at home since she had a job.Venissa was going to run away.Her parents would never allow her to go!She wrote about a hundred lies on that paper.She hated lying and running away r,but if she told her parents,"Hey mom and dad,I am going to a different realm where i will unlock the powers inside me and save the world from devastation."Imagine what would be their reaction to that. She couldn't very well do that. That is why she was running away and lying. Onc she was done with the letter,she started to pack with teary eyes.It took two suitcases and one canvas bag to get most of her things in.Then she locked the door and put the key under the mattress. Venissa then waved sadly at the house and disappeared into a thicket of trees that lead a shortcut to the park.She trudged along when suddenly some one said,"I didn't ask you to bring your whole house with you!"She saw the man jump in front of her from goodness knows where."The portal is just up ahead.Let me help you with that."He said,taking a suitcase from her.She smiled at him gratefully and he simply smiled back."I am Zen. I am someone you will grow to know very well.Ah here it is.Just step in and try not scream."He said.She nodded.Here goes.She stepped in,and was immediately swallowed inside.It was pitch black,and it felt as though someone was pulling her in.She knew how Alice felt when she went down the rabbit hole.Except,this was worse.It felt like someone was trying to pull her legs off her body.She couldn't help but scream.From somewhere behind her,she heard someone murmur,"I told you not to scream.."She screamed all the way until her legs touched solid land,and when she opened her eyes, the only thing she could say was,"Woah...."
