Chapter Three: Kidnapped
Homeroom C201 was a large bunch. Mr. Andell, the English teacher and freshman advisor, normally dealt with this kind of stuff. He always had a gigantic amount of kids due to the fact that not everyone is interested in advanced classes. Though students get a choice of their classes, the teachers have to put up with the amount. There is a certain limit to the size, however it still allowed enough kids to drive the instructors mad. That and it depended on the students themselves. How they cooperate in a classroom setting will determine how the year will go and what the teacher has to do to make sure that it's not too problematic for him or herself.
"Alright, packet pg. 42, get em out." Andell ordered.
The students did just that. The teacher stood in front of the room, with the students waiting for further instruction.
"You need all this for your upcoming test-"
A groan from the class made him pause.
"Aww, you'll live. Besides, it won't kill you to use your brain. That's the main reason your alive." Andell stated.
"If it is brain power, then I don't know how Spyder is still here." Christi Gibbson joked.
The class chuckled.
"I guess that goes for both of us." Spyder shot back.
Christi sucked her teeth as the class snickered.
"Hey, how about we see if we can turn your brains on and work on this packet. It's not due til the end of next month, but you should jump ahead. Lots to cover here, so get going on that." Andell told them.
He went over to his desk to make a phone call. The entire class began to work on their assignment. Well, almost everyone did the work. The pilot was busy having another task at hand. The list began with a person named Daniel Hoover. He was on the kickboxing team alongside Paige. Lucky for the technopath, Daniel happened to be in his first period class. The two have crossed paths and even had conversations here and there. They didn't know each other all that well. And since this whole plan was underway, the fifteen year old had to regardlessly talk to him to get what he needed.
"Psst! Danny!" Ryan whispered.
Another person glanced back at him. He gestured the kickboxer to look up. The fighter did so and became curious.
"Come here." Ryan told him.
Daniel took a quick peek at Mr. Andell. He was still making calls, so he had time. Daniel switched seats with the kid across from him to be closer to the adopted child. He leaned over.
"What?" Daniel asked in a hushed whisper.
"You know who Ryley is?" Ryan questioned in return.
"Dude, I know a million Ryleys. Gotta be more specific." Daniel replied.
"I meant Ryley Dennis." Ryan clarified.
Daniel nodded.
"Yeah, she's cool. Why?" He posed.
"Well, she needs help with something. It's a benefit thing she's doing. All she needs is some parts. Think you could help me out?" Ryan inquired.
"Depends. What does she need?" Daniel quizzed.
Their conversation was quiet, however the pilot failed to see that his friend was sitting only a few desks away. He was working the packet for a bit. Eventually, he stopped since the assignment had done a poor job on interesting him. His eyes wondered, which led them to land on his buddy. Harris was saying something about Ryan acting strangely. Spyder decided to take a listen and find out what's going on.
"Scrap metal? Where am I gonna get scrap metal?" Daniel asked.
"There's a junkyard near the factory on 3rd street. All you need to do is collect some and then give it to Ryley." Ryan told him.
"Alright, fine. What do I get out of this?" Daniel questioned.
Ryan shrugged. He immediately opened his backpack. After a few seconds of searching, he found a card. He pulled it out and gave it to the kickboxer. That card had him grinning.
"$50 gift card to Wawa should do it." Ryan negotiated.
Danny nodded.
"It sure does. I'll text her later." He informed.
Ryan nodded. The fighter turned back around and got his work from his previous desk. The freshman managed to grab another item while talking to Daniel. It was the small notebook his girlfriend gave him. Using his pencil, he marked Danny off the list. He began to read who else was on there.
"Oh no. Not him! This girl is lucky I love her." Ryan complained.
He placed the book back in his bookbag. His friend however was too busy interested in what he was doing. The favor chain has started as he would like to call it. His main question was why would he need metal? The only thing that came into his mind was some type of machine. He didn't know what the machine exactly was, but the fact that metal was needed made it clear that it was included. The jokester marked this as a note while taking out his phone. He would let Harris know about this after class.
****************
"Woah."
As the Mech X crew were doing their high school thing, the current villains were conspiring. However, bad guys are bad for a reason. Even if they all have the same goal, it's more likely that they would fight with each other than they would with the potential heroes. To no surprise at all, it makes sense for why Grey would want some kind of payback after the way she was treated before. This little scheme of hers would not only wipe her former boss out, but it would allow her to take control of everything that he created. Her ways are ruthless and cruel, and she does not care what it takes to hurt someone as young as a baby.
"Now how did this form?" Grey wondered.
Morris shrugged.
"If Seth built it, we would've known about it already." He replied.
Grey tilted her head to the side as she tried to find the main power source to...whatever this thing was.
"It's far out. Someone else knows what's going on. Their trying to stop us." Grey discovered.
"Well, let's find the punk behind that and BOOM! Take him out and problem solved." Morris told her.
"No. We don't know who it is. He could be dangerous and think that someone could be on his tail already." Grey responded.
"What if...what if it's Trager?" Morris inquired.
Grey took a moment to think. That theory was far from incorrect. What if it was him? He disappeared months ago with no explanation. Not to mention, he was powerful enough to create something like this. There's no taking him out of the question. But, why would he need a barrier?
"Ugh! We might have to travel. We need to find out who's doing this." Grey decided.
"Yeah about that..."
The two adults stopped in their tracks. The voice remained anonymous as they checked the area. Morris shrugged. Grey glanced at him and looked up. She didn't catch anything either.
"Who are you? Get out here and fight us!" Morris demanded.
"Well, if you insist."
The lights burned out automatically. Darkness effected the duo's vision. Finding the emergency power button was difficult with no sight. That's when Grey heard a scream. She nearly snapped her neck when her attention returned to the back door.
"Morris?" Grey called.
No response.
"MORRIS??" Grey repeated.
Nothing.
"Are you still here?" Grey asked.
She never received an answer.
"Mor-"
That's when she was hit by an object so compacted you could hear the impact. It collided with the blonde's head, causing her to fall. The sudden collision had her seeing stars. She managed to look up. The emergency lights were activated, but the person who turned them on was unrecongnizable. Grey struggled to completely focus as the pain in her head held her back.
"Who are you?" She questioned.
The person crouched down and smirked.
"Don't worry about that. Have fun in jail, Kim."
