-Harry Potter POV-
After some introductions, we went on our way. "So, you all are the legends I heard as a child?" I asked.
"That's right young one," Santa Claus, or as he likes to be called, North, confirmed as Jack lead us through the crowd.
"And you watch over all the children in the world?"
"Well, we do our best," Jack said as we went in a bookstore named, 'Flourish and Blotts.'
The owner looked up and immediately recognized Jack, "Professor Frost! It's good to see you again," he said with a smile. "Are you here to order the usual amount of notebooks and quills?"
He nodded, "Add four more notebooks and eight quills for my friends if you can." He paused, "Also, a blue and green diary with an ID card on it."
The owner nodded and filled out an order form. "Cool colors and white for the notebooks like normal?" He clarified.
Jack looked at the group, "Well, have one red and one yellow, but the rest like normal."
He nodded, finished filling out the form, and filed it. "That will be 10 gallons, 6 sickles, and 3 nuts."
He pulled out 11 golden coins and gave it to him, "I don't have any other coins right now."
He waved him off as he counted the change. "No worries, a family came by with only the other two for all of their books. I'm glad to give you some change."
Jack done, I stepped up and showed him my list. He nodded, "Ah yes. First year. I'll go get them for you."
When he left, I turned to Jack, "What do you mean, you do your best?"
The owner came back and I paid for my books and we left.
Jack continued, "I mean that there's only so much we can do. We can't stop abusive or neglectful parents since they don't believe in us, and we can't be everywhere at once to help every child who's been hurt." He let the words sink in before continuing "Dumbledore told me that one reason he wants these guys to help teach is so the students can go on to help make the world a better place."
I looked at Jack with a new respect causing the other four to chuckle, "Looks like Jack has a new admirer."
We went to different stores so both me and Jack could get supplies. Him for his class, and me for everything. I quickly learned that Jack, er, Professor Frost, was the only one of the six of us that knew anything about the Wizarding world and he answered all of our questions.
We eventually got to a shop called 'Madam Malkin's Robes' and Jack had the other spirits wait outside while we went in. I stepped in first and a woman came to me, "Hogwarts Dear?" I nodded and she smiled before noticing Professor Frost behind me and her face visibility lit up. "Professor Frost!"
Multiple people looked up and smiled at him. Jack chuckled at the attention, "Good to see you Madam Malkin."
She beckoned another worker who took me to a stool to be measured.
"I'm glad you're here, I made you something," me as well as everyone else was listening to their conversation.
Jack nervously laughed, "That's okay Madam Malkin, I can't afford another outfit right now."
She shook her head, "Than consider it a gift."
Jack's eyes went wide as a door to the side was opened and a manikin was rolled out my a mischievous looking male employee.
He shook his head, "No, you work hard on your creations. You deserve to be p…”
Malkin turned Jacks head and he gasped from a delightful shock once he saw it.
The outfit in question was a thigh length Kimono with a white base and a grass print at the bottom, yellow swirls formed a badger with the help of a little brown, more yellow and light blue swirls decorated the rest. What confused me was that it was a girl fit.
“Do you like it?” Madam Malkin asked. People all around the store front smiled at the sight and Professor Frost approached the robe almost speechless.
“Malkin, th- Do Ogres like cheese puffs?” He took the edges of the kimono with the hand his staff wasn’t holding and frost came off onto it in his delight. “How can I ever thank you?”
Malkin smiled, “Wear it at Hogwarts. It will be almost like me going back myself.”
Profesor Frost threw his arms around Maklin who was quick to return the hug. The person who bought the manikin out began to fold the cloth, smiling at the exchange of affection. “I’ll wear it on the first day for the feast.” He told her as a bag was given to him with the komono inside.
I smiled as someone began to measure me for my robes. “Quite the show,” someone beside me said.
I looked in that direction and saw a boy with bleached blonde hair looking at the two as they talked in a more hushed tone. I smiled, “Profesor Frost. I’m looking forward to being in his class. He’s so nice.”
“As well as convincing and powerful,” the boy said as he stepped down from the stool, measurements done.
“What do you mean?” I asked him as he adjusted his clothes.
He looked at me with a blank expression, “He keeps tabs on the Minister of Magic. When he messes up, That boy takes over. No one dares get in his way.”
“How is he able to do that?” I asked, “He can’t be more than 14.”
The boy shook his head. “You know nothing about the Wizarding world. Do you? He’s over 300 years old. With all that power we can’t replicate, plus all the allies and magic he gained from us, if he goes evil, we’d be worse off then when you know who was around.”
I wanted to ask more questions, but he walked away and I was still being measured.
The two of us walked out of the shop once I had filled out the delivery form and paid for it. Professor held his new robe, still beaming. The attitude somehow made him seem even more approachable than before, if that was even possible.
I looked at my list, “What’s left Harry? I’m all set.” Professor Frost said, playing with his staff slightly.
I read it to myself, “It looks like all that’s left is a wand.”
Professor Frost face palmed, “Of course! How could I forget? That thing is used in most of your classes after all. Come on. I know the perfect place to get the perfect wand. Olivanders. The best wands this side of the Antlantic.”
We went to the store and I entered alone since Professor Frost wanted to talk to his friends alone before going to meet Hagid.
(You all know the whole wand selection thing and Olivander doesn't know Jack, so I'm just gonna skip it to avoid word for word copy pasting JK Rowling's text)
I walked out with a new wand in hand. I put it back in its box and turned to look at Professor Frost.
I cleared my throat and he looked at me and smiled, "Ready to go?"
I nodded and he flicked his staff causing a silver blue sparkle cluster to come off it in the direction of the entrance of the alley.
"That will tell Hagrid we're on our way. Let's go."
We didn't get far when we heard a voice that caused the Spirits to stop in their tracks. "Jack Frost?"
Professor Frost froze, eyes wide and turned to face a young boy my age. He had brown hair, peach skin and when he smiled, you could see that one of his front teeth were growing in.
Jack laughed nervously, "Jamie! W- what are you doing here?"
I looked at the other spirits to find they were exchanging nervous glances. What's going on?
The boy, Jamie, smiled wider. "You'll never guess it, turns out that I'm magic to!" He paused with a realization, "Wait, what are you doing here? And what are you wearing?"
"Better question, who are you talking to?" A man beside him asked. His dad?
Jack sighed as Jamie tried to tell them that Jack Frost was standing in front of them. "What's going on?" I asked Professor Frost.
He took a deep breath, "Muggles can't see people like us unless the believe in us." He smirked, "Hey Jamie! I have an idea."
Frost walked over, leaned his staff against his body, and ran his fingers along the boys sleeves, frost appearing around where he touched.
Once that happened, the parents stepped back, "Person appeared," His mother said.
Jamie smiled, "Mom, Dad, this is Jack Frost. I met him the day after Easter Sunday this year." They looked at Jack, surprised, "Speaking of," Jamie turned back to Frost, "Why are you wearing a Japanese bath robe?"
Frost laughed, "Let's just say, this is the real me." He smirked, "Also, you might want to get used to calling me Professor Frost," he said with a wink.
"What do you mea… oh," realization bloomed on Jamies face and he smiled. "What class?"
"Eastern Magic and Culture. I was created in Japan after all,"
"Cool!" He smiled while bouncing a bit.
Frost laughed and ruffled his hair, "Got to go Jamie. See you at school." They said goodbye and we continued towards the Leaky cauldron.
"Who wants a scoop of ice cream before we call it a day?" Frost asked as we walked through the entrance of the Alley.
"I don't know," Tooth said sounding hesitant.
"They have sugar free options," Frost singsonged.
At that she smiled and shrugged, "What are we waiting for?"
When we found Hagrid, he turned to us and smiled, "Happy Birthday 'Arry," he said gesturing to his side. My eyes widened at the Snowy owl. I smiled wider than I ever have in my life.
Jack eventually left with the other Guardians, claiming he had an old student in Romania who wanted to talk to him.
"His youngest brother is starting Hogwarts this year. He's worried because his mom told him that he's eating less than normal."
I smiled, "It's nice that siblings look out for each other."
Jack smirked, "You know the youngest brother looks a lot like your mother when she was his age." Before I could ask, they left.
Hagrid brought me back to the Durslys, warning me not to be late to my train. There is no way I will let myself miss it.
