Live it to Learn it

-Jack Frost POV-

I smiled as I flew back to my room and softly closed the door. I placed my staff in the magical case Dumbledor got me to keep it safe, and went to the bed. On my way, I picked up a white book with blue stitching and a quill. I went to about the middle where the next blank page was, and began to write. Teaching isn’t the only reason I had ink on my hands at the meetings.

The next day came and I taught class like normal. Well, as normal as my class can be. “Yeah, I used to not be able to control it as much,” I said twirling my staff. “I can still remember when I tried to do long distance winter for the first time. I fired, and I missed.”

A chuckle was heard and I acted out the experience pointing my staff at something different every time I said, “Fired.’

“So I fired, and I fired, and I missed. I missed both times. I fired, and I missed.” a few people laughed while everyone else chuckled. Some covering their mouths to hide it. “This went on for several hours.”

More people laughed as I continued.

“I fired, and I missed. I was really tired so I made myself a snow cone and passed out in the snow.” I fell down on my back as I said passed out causing everyone to laugh.

“I woke up,” I sat up. “Got ready,” I stood. “I fired. And I missed.” Everyone burst out laughing. “I fired, and missed. Fired, missed.” People began to laugh consistently as they tried to listen. “At this point I was getting a little frustrated,” I said and swung my staff and made a ball on snow. “Made myself another snowcone.”

I bit into it before throwing it out the window. The ball slowly melted in the sun. “After that, I fired, and I hit something!” The group cheard. “But it wasn’t what I was aiming for. So I guess I missed.” At that, even the most stone faced Slitherins began to laugh as people began to lose it and some fell off their chairs.

“That’s why I go to the place I’m giving winter to,” I finished, and the bell rang. “Alright everyone, find something that makes you smile and see if you can find how an eastern country of your choice views it. See you all next tuesday.”

Everyone packed up and I put the unopened book back in my desk, ignoring the chalkboard that remained the same since the beginning of the year. The people rushed out and began to go to the Great hall for lunch. Oh if only they knew the surprise that would be brought in the mail today for a certain first year.

I was about to go to lunch myself when I heard from behind me. "Ello Mate."

I jumped and turned around, staff at the ready, only to see Bunny rubbing his boomerang with a cloth. I sighed and let my guard back down. Mostly. "We've got to stop bumping into each other like this," I said with a smirk as we closed the gap. "Mind telling me that you're coming next time?"

"I did," he said, and pointed to my desk. I looked and saw an egg dancing around.

I rolled my eyes, "Maybe a little more obvious if you can?" I said and took the egg, the legs disappearing, to reveal a hollow chocolate egg that I took a bite from.

Bunny just rolled his eyes. "I'll see what I can do. The first day of our after school class start tomarow, right?"

I nodded, "Right. You made your classes more activity based with discussions afterwards like I asked. Right?"

He nodded and I felt much more relief than what I probably should have. "Great. I'll need to ask North and Sandy later. Tooth's the only one who came to watch a class so far and she didn't get the memo. Let's hope she found a bunch of activities to show the importance of childhood memories."

"Why are we teaching through activities?" Bunny asked with sheer curiosity.

I smiled, "Two reasons. First, this is an optional thing. If people start to see it as just another class with no homework, they won't want to come. But if it's fun with a bunch of things they might not be able to do otherwise, they'll want to come." I felt a ping of a headache, but shook it off.

Bunny nodded in understanding. "Makes sence. I should probably find more activities. Can I watch your classes the rest of the day?"

I nodded, "I was just going to lunch. Classes will resume after that. Come on."

We walked in and Bunny got a few looks, but we ignored it. I decided to sit with him and we had an awkward conversation. We never properly made up after all. We were saved when the owls came flying in.

People's eyes became attracted to the cluster of six owls carrying a single long package. I smirked at Harry's face when it landed in front of him, note falling on top soon after.

I watched with amusement as he ripped open the letter then showed it to Ron. "What's in the package?" Bunny asked after noticing my expretion.

"Best broomstick in the world," I said with a smile as Bunny just looked back to Harry confused. I stood, "Let's get back to class. The next two are a day ahead of my others and I need the desks to be against the wall."

"Why?" Bunny asked as he scooped the last bite of his salad.

I smirked, "You're about to find out why I teach in a dance room."

He stood, "Why am I concerned?"

I shrugged, "What can I say? I believe that you need to live it to learn it."
