Chapter Twelve
"Wait, what did you do!?" I looked at her in disbelief.
I can't believe she did that! Why would she do that!? That's how Tony always knew what was going on between Hunter and I. I can't believe she did this. Although I never told her about Tony abusing me, she still betrayed me. She did something I never thought she would do! I looked at her as she shifted nervously in her chair.
"I told Tony about you and Hunter." she said and looked at me. "I'm sorry for doing this, but I had no other choice! You were hanging out with Hunter and that worried me a bit too much." she said and I chuckled in disbelief.
"How can you do this to me, Alyssa!?" I grabbed my book and my bag. "I never thought you would betray me like this. Hunter is not what you guys think he is! You all are just fucking douchebags with no purpose in life and all you guys can do is spread rumors about people that aren't even true." I stood up. "And as for Tony. He can go fuck himself for all I care. Bye, Alyssa." I walked out of the classroom as the teacher did her best to stop me. Not today, bitch. Not today.
---
I huffed as I held onto the straps of my bag. I have no idea how Alyssa got Tony's number, but the fact the she called him and told him about me and Hunter is just despicable. I still can't believe that. She's just believing rumors. Hunter is not like that, and it is so annoying how everybody has the wrong idea about us. People are just unbelievable. I walked to the school's cafeteria and just sat down with my bag on the table. I wish Hunter was here.
"Hey." I heard a voice behind me and I turned around.
I saw a guy smiling at me and I smiled back weakly. "Hi."
"Can I sit with you?" he asked and I nodded.
"Sure." I said and he took a seat, also placing his bag on the table.
He had brunette hair and green eyes, with a smile that could probably light up the whole city. I sighed as I thought about Alyssa again. Stop thinking about her, Zoe. I told myself. It's not worth it.
"So, I'm Dylan." he extended his hand, asking me to shake it.
I looked at him. I smiled and shook his hand. "I'm Zoe." I said and he smiled. "So are you new here? Because I haven't really seen you around here." I said as I let go of his hand.
He chuckled. Well, someone's a bubbly person. "Yeah, I kinda am new to this whole town. We just moved here." he said and I nodded.
"So, Dylan, like the new town?" I asked, placing my elbow on the table and resting my chin on the palm of my hand.
Dylan looked around. "I guess I do. You're the first person I've talked to, to be honest." he said and I smiled.
"Interesting." I nodded my head. "So, you have your schedule already?" I asked him and he bit his lip.
"Yeah, I do." he said and handed it over to me.
I smiled when I saw his schedule. "Well, you're first year too!" I grinned. "You have a free period now?" I asked him and he nodded.
I have no idea how I was able to keep the conversation going. Hunter was right, do I ever shut up? Probably not. I have to keep people entertained, you know. Besides, Dylan seemed like a great guy, and of course, he deserves to be treated well. I looked at his schedule and I realized that I have most of my classes with him. This is fantastic, since I have most of my classes with Alyssa. That way I can avoid her and sit with Dylan.
The sad thing is that I don't even feel bad for doing this with Alyssa. I know I might seem like a bad person for that, but I don't really care about her anymore. Even though she might have had good intentions on the whole telling Tony about Hunter thing, I still feel like she betrayed me somehow. Maybe this is not what I thought it was. Maybe she was jealous of me spending too much time with Hunter. Or maybe she was just a bit too overprotective, but then again, didn't she see how happy I was with Hunter?
"We have most of our classes together." I told Dylan and he smiled brightly. His brunette emo-ish hair was perfectly styled and his adorable smile just made him look a million times more adorable.
"Well, at least I'll have good company." he shrugged and I chuckled.
I looked at his schedule again and realized that we have history together too. Well, that's interesting, since Hunter is going to be in the same class as us. I gave Dylan back his schedule and took out my phone out of my bag, just in case Hunter tries to contact me.
"So, you have a free period too?" he asked and I shook my head.
"No, I skipped." I said and he nodded.
"So, where did you move from?" I asked and he cleared his throat.
"From Florida." he said and I nodded.
"I'm really hungry. I'm gonna get myself some food. Do you want something?" I asked and he shook his head.
"No, I'm good. Thanks."
I nodded and I walked over to the counter. I didn't like the school's food, to be honest, but I was very hungry. I wonder if Hunter was expelled. I hope not, because even though he might have been expelled, he will still stay at school, watching me. Damn, Hunter, people are going to think that you're a creep. After buying a burger and a bottle of water, I walked back over to Dylan and sat down. I smiled at him as I started eating my food. It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't good either.
"Your phone was ringing." Dylan said and I stopped eating.
"Did you pick up?" I asked, taking another bite, and he shook his head.
I placed my food on the table and grabbed my phone. Yes, it was Hunter calling me. I rolled my eyes and called him back, placing the phone onto my right ear. He picked up after a few rings.
"What the fuck! I've been calling you for so long! Where were you!?" he yelled.
"Shut the fuck up, Hunter. Stop being so dramatic. It was just a few minutes ago and I was buying food. Food is important, you know." I said and Dylan chuckled.
Hunter let out a frustrated sigh and I raised my eyebrows. "Where are you now?" he asked and I sighed.
"The school's cafeteria." I said and he hung up.
I looked at the phone in my hand. "Well, goodbye to you too, you bitch." I scoffed at the phone and Dylan chuckled once again. I squinted my eyes at him. "You're enjoying this a lot, aren't you." I said and he shot me an amused look.
Of course, he was.
Within a few minutes Hunter walked into the cafeteria and I caught him looking around, looking for me. Once he spotted me waving my hands at him like a lunatic, he rolled his eyes playfully and jogged over to me. "Why are you skipping class? I told you not to be alone." he gave me a deadly look and I scoffed at him.
"A fucking 'hi' would be delightful, you disrespectful thing." I joked and he looked at Dylan.
"Hi." he said and looked at me again. He opened his mouth, but closed it again. His head turned back at Dylan and he gave him a look. "Who the fuck are you?"
Dylan was about to say something, but I cut him off. "He's my friend and I demand you to show some respect." I said and Hunter rolled his eyes.
"Respect my ass." he looked at me. "Who is he?"
"Chill, Hunter." I said his name, because I know he likes it. "He's just a friend. he's new here. And get used to him, because he's turning into my new best friend soon. Well, at least I think he is." I said and Dylan smiled.
Hunter didn't say anything. Instead, he sat down next to me and gave me a look. "Why are you skipping class?"
"I thought it was something normal for you." I frowned and he nodded.
"For me that is normal, but not for you." he said. "So, you better tell me what's going on."
I sighed and looked at my lap, then back at Hunter. "It's Alyssa." I said.
"What did she do?" he raised his eyebrows at me.
"Thank God, I thought his expression always stays that scary and creepy." Dylan said and I laughed.
"That's what I thought too!" I said and Hunter glared at both of us, shutting us up.
"My answer." he said and I cleared my throat.
"Alyssa told Tony about us meeting. That's why he always knew everything." I said and I could see anger building up in Hunter's eyes.
Yep, I'm going to have to calm down The Devil now.
---
"Oh my God. Is she always like this?" Dylan groaned as our History teacher spoke.
I chuckled. "Yes, get ready to get tortured by this for the rest of the school year." I smiled sarcastically and Dylan groaned, resting his head on the table.
"I don't want this." he clenched his jaw and I looked at Hunter.
He was doing his best not to laugh and that made me giggle.
"Stupid teenage girls these days." my teacher said. "They go all crazy when they see a guy with a lot of money. It's exactly like my neighbor's son. I mean, I don't eavesdrop or something, but his own mother told me. The guy has his own house, so whenever he walks down the streets, shorts start getting shorter and the cleavage show gets greater." she looked at everyone and most of the students were laughing, including me.
She really was impossible. She keeps talking about useless stuff, and doesn't even continue with the lessons. I have no idea how she has this habit. I sighed and rested my head on Hunter's shoulder. The class was divided in groups and each group contained four tables. Since Hunter was sitting at this table, only Dylan and I sat here and the rest was just too scared.
Dylan looked at me and huffed. "I want to get out of here."
"No fucking shit." Hunter said and I chuckled. Even Dylan chuckled.
I have a feeling that Hunter and Dylan are going to be just fine.
---
"That Dylan guy is cool." Hunter said as he drove us home.
"Finally! you like one of my friends." I said and Hunter chuckled.
"Yes." he took my hand in his. "But do remember, you're mine." Hunter said and I chuckled.
"Yes, Hunter. I'm yours." I said and he nodded.
I love how he actually does smile around me. I looked out the window, my hand still in his. Suddenly this question popped into my head. I knew he was lying that day, and today I will find out the truth.
"Hunter..." I looked at him.
"Hmm?" he hummed.
"I'm going to ask you something, and promise me you will tell me the truth." I pointed at him with my index finger.
He looked at me for a few seconds, before looking at the road again. "Okay, promise."
"Hunter, I know you were lying that day. What did the doctor really say about Blaze?" I asked and he looked at me.
He pulled over and stopped the car. He stared at me, hoping that I would drop it, but my look clearly told him that that was really not going to happen. He sighed and I noticed his jaw clench and his body tense up.
"The doctor said that Blaze has just a few months left. Maximum four." he said, and I felt the whole world freeze.
