Iruka's POV:

This all started from the day Kakashi became Hokage and somehow asked me to run few errands for him which eventually turned out with me being around him constantly even though I still had my own job to keep up with. However, I am not complaining about that, instead, for some reason, this new found company of his has been growing on me especially as he doesn't miss to invite me for barbecue (or drinks, which I do have to turn down often since I can't show up in a bad state next day for my students) as a compensation for my time and help.

Unfortunately, after the Great Ninja War a certain someone who used to be close friends with Kakashi was admitted into a hospital due to their body being in a critical condition. It took them quite a while to be released from it though they ended up having to be tied down to a wheel chair. This certain person who I'm speaking of is none other than Might Guy and of course, while he was still in hospital I knew that Kakashi would often visit him and that didn't bother me one bit. However, this somehow changed after his release as suddenly, if Kakashi wasn't doing his hokage duties, he would spend all his free time with the bowl cut male which lead to our relationship starting to feel more distant. To be honest, it would seem natural that this would happen, I was only around mostly when Kakshi needed some help here and there and he only used to invite me out on his free time just as sort of a thanks for the help, so I shouldn't be surprised or complain about our relationship starting to drift back to how it used to be before with us being just acquaintances and yet... I can't stop myself from feeling unhappy about it and I don't know why...

Nobody's POV:

Iruka leaned back on the bench with a sigh as he looked up at the clear sunny sky with his head still in the clouds with these heavy thoughts of his relationship with the white haired male. That's when the brunette heard familiar voices heading up his way.

"KaKaShi! What a beautiful day is this, it be just perfect to do some intense training, don't you agree!"

"Calm down Guy, I know you are rearing to go and train, but please do not forget that you been strictly prohibited to do any intense workouts while your body is still recovering. Do not make me look after you more just to make sure you don't go doing anything stupid like that."

"Haha! Don't worry KaKaShi, I definitely do not want to cause you any trouble like that which would keep you even more away from your important Hokage duties. I already appreciate you taking time off to just help me adjust with my new situation!"

"Please Guy, don't make it sound like it's some chore for me to be hangout with you on my free time. I do it cause I enjoy spending my time with you after all you always been a great friend and comrade to me." Kakashi smiled through his mask.

That's when Iruka who hasn't yet been noticed by the two males, suddenly stood up from the bench getting in Kakashi's way and unable to control himself, the brown haired male shouted to the masked male. "What about me?! I thought you spent time with me cause you enjoyed it but now you completely forgot me and threw me away as if I was just a temporary substitute to you!"

Whilst screaming this, Iruka's head finally clicked with realization of his actions 'Wait, what am I doing?! What Am I even saying?! No.. No.. No! I don't want to say this, stop Iruka!' Therefore, the male quickly tried to fix this somehow. "Ah! Forget what I just said, I don't know what came over me, I didn't mean any of that, I am just having a bad day, that's all, sorry!". After scrambling to apologize, Iruka then suddenly took off running past Kakashi heading straight for his house feeling all embareased for his stupid words whilst leaving the white haired male speechless and stiff.

"You should go after him, KaKaShi." Guy nudges his friend making him snap back to reality.

"What about you, Guy? I can't just leave you."

"You should not worry about me. I will be just fine but there's a friendship you need to patch up, so, go after him. "

"If you're sure about it. Thanks. Though, I will still come back for you after." With that Kakashi gave a wave with his hand as he ran off after Iruka.

At this point Iruka had just reached his house and was about to step inside when someone called out to him from behind.

"Iruka, wait. We need to talk."

The brunette turned around "Ah, Ka.. Kashi. Why are you here? I told you to-"

"I know you said to forget it, but you did have a point, I really wasn't acting the greatest towards you completely ignoring to spend some time with you just cause of an old friend. I'm sorry"

"No no! You don't need to apologize! You didn't actually do anything wrong. He is an old friend of yours and he just got out of hospital so of course you would spend time with him as you are also helping him through recovering. I'm the one who was out of line snapping at you for no good reason especially as I am just a work colleague. I'm sorry.."

"I wouldn't say that you snapped for no reason, I did mention that I do see the point you made, but what do you mean by 'just a work colleague'? You think that's how I just see you as?"

"Well... Yes... I mean... We only hanged out when I was helping you around and well... you would invite me out just to thank me for my help so, it be natural to think that that's all we are..."

"I see.. Can't really blame you for thinking that way, but I do see you as more then just a work colleague, after all, wouldn't you say we have gotten quite close through our drink out nights having even shared enough secrets between each other". Kakashi winks at Iruka mentioning 'secrets' while continuing to speak afterwards. "Besides, telling the truth, I might say that I am inviting you out just to thank you for your help, but I am also inviting you out because I really do enjoy your company, otherwise I'd probably be able to find other ways to thank you."

"Oh.. I see.. I didn't realize that.. "

"Back to the topic at hand, I am truly sorry for not planning any time for you anymore. To be honest, I did consider inviting you to join me and Guy, but decided against it cause thought it might be a bit too awkward or not interesting enough for you to hang out around me and my old friend as you ain't that familiar with him. Though, I guess I could have tried to at least suggest it to show that I at least didn't completely forget about you, but it seems I really didn't think of doing that... "

"No no, you don't need to apologize anymore,  I completely understand and ain't upset and thank you for at least considering that even if you didn't go through with asking me about it."

"Well then, would you be interested in joining me and Guy for a bit, I could properly introduce you to each other and after that we could plan some time for both of us to just hang out, how does that sound?" Kakshi in his style gave a soft smile impression with his eyes while suggesting that.

Iruka's face lit up as he gave a wide smile back to Kakashi. "You know, that sounds great. I would loved to join you two and get to know your friend better."

"Great, then would you mind coming now as I did sorta leave Guy behind, though if you have something to do right now we can hang out tomorrow."

"Oh! I don't have anything else to do and I can definitely join you two now!"

"Cool, then let's head out!"

With that they both went back to catch back up with Might Guy and spend their time together getting to know each other better and deepening their bond and finally Iruka could start to let go of his jealousy he had developed as now he won't be left behind by Kakashi like that again especially having realized they are closer than he thought.

Apologies if this ain't a satisfying enough ending as this sort of promt would definitely take more than a oneshot to get anywhere further with the plot at least from the setting I just went with and yeah, since I haven't been writing these in a while it has been more difficult to think of the storyline now 😅. But I do hope if was at least somewhat enjoyable to read a new story from me😁.
