Lovers: Shooting Stars
The darkness of night enveloped the fab foursome as they sat on the balcony, laughter filling the air as stories were told and alcoholic beverages were consumed. The bond between each of these four characters was strong, to the point none of them ever thought they'd be separated again. At least not in this lifetime.
"Look!" Adrien shot his body up to a seated position from where he was lying on the lounge chair on his balcony. Unfortunately the movement sent the other occupant flying to the ground.
Marinette shrieked as her backside hit the cold, hard, concrete of the balcony floor. Pulling herself up to standing, she smacked Adrien around the back of the head, only for no response to be given. The stars in the sky had taken his full concentration.
"Wow!" The breathily sigh of Alya could be heard echoing against the balcony walls, causing Marinette to notice what her friends were all looking at.
A shooting star, or should she say five shooting stars, were making their way across the sky. The tiny streaks of light adding to the already beautifully light Paris sky. She had to admit, it was extraordinary and she was glad Adrien had dragged them all outside to see it. No matter how dorky it may have been.
"Quick, make a wish everyone!" Nino stood up and moved his way to the railing on the balcony. The others watched as he screwed his eyes tightly and recited a Disney classic.
"Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight ..." Nino went silent, whilst the other three adults found it hard to control their snickering.
"Ok Nino, I love you and everything, but that was something extra." Alya walked and placed her hand around Nino's waist, resting her head on his shoulder.
"I would have expected it from my kitty here," Marinette exclaimed, "but coming from you Nino, well, I don't know what to say."
"You all won't be laughing when my dream comes true and I disown you all as my friends." Nino turned and made his way back to his seat, grabbed his wine glass and downed what was left.
"What did you wish for dude?" Even though Adrien was speaking to Nino, he was currently helping Marinette reposition herself back in between his legs, where she'd been relaxing before being thrown to the floor. His face was one of apology, and she could only roll her eyes in reply.
"Nu-er! Not telling! You know the rules, Agreste. If I tell them it won't come true."
"In other words," interrupted Alya, "it's something stupid."
"Hey!" Nino gave his girlfriend a glare as Adrien barked out a loud laugh.
"Fine, Mr Worlds top model," Nino turned to his friend, "what's your wish?"
"I don't need to wish, my man, I already have my dream." Adrien bent his head low and placed a kiss on Marinette's neck, causing the raven haired beauty to become a face furnace of heat.
"As if you still blush, Mari!"
This caused a round of laughter again to circulate around their friends, as Marinette covered as much of her face as possible with two hands.
"It's hard to get used to ok!" She shrieked out.
"Girl, you've seen him naked, I'm quite sure there's nothing left to blush about."
Another groan left Marinette's lips as Adrien kissed her again.
"I love you, M'Lady."
"Yeah yeah." She swatted him away before pulling his arms around her tighter. "I love you too, Chaton."
"Oh, they're using their hero names. This is so strange. I still can't get over you two being well ... you two."
Adrien laughed at his friend. He could completely understand why they found it so strange. Geez, the first time Marinette had called him one of his nicknames out of suit he almost collapsed from cardiac arrest.
"What does that mean?" Marinette asked, not out of malice, but out of wonder.
"It means, you're both just so different when you're suited up. I don't mean anything bad by it at all. It's just strange to know it's proper gentleman Adrien Agreste, and the stuttering shy Marinette Dupain-Cheng. I mean the LadyNoir dynamic is just so different to how you two were. You can't blame people for not guessing it's you. Even with the sudden disappearances."
Marinette and Adrien nodded at Alya, they completely understood. At the end of the day they'd felt the same way when they first found out, too.
"Don't worry, I was that shocked when I found out Adrien was my kitty I just kind of shrieked, giggled and then ran away. It was as though my body was flying through every emotion before settling on its chosen one."
"Yeah, she just ran away leaving me with Steve." Adrien added on.
"Steve?" Nino questioned.
"Yeah, our pet rat who lives in the alleyway behind the Disney store on the Champs-Elysee. He was our witness for the reveal, though it was a pretty shite reveal." Adrien's nose wrinkled and Marinette couldn't help giving it a little kiss. Sometimes he looked so much like a bunny. The temptation to ask him to transform with Fluff seemed to continually be on the forefront of her mind.
"Pre-tell!" Alya encouraged the heroes.
Marinette sighed and sat up a little. This really was like reliving sections of her life which, firstly, were pants and secondly, changed the course of their history. The reveal was not what either wanted and, to be honest, considering everything they'd been through it was a crap turn of events. Honestly, both thought it was going to be a grand reveal after they defeated Shadow Moth.
"Basically, we had a hard battle and chose the same alleyway to transform back in."
Alya and Nino looked between the two heroes waiting for the punchline to the joke, after all, this was Chat Noir they were talking about. When neither Marinette or Adrien made a move to continue their story, Alya's excitement deflated.
"Well, that was anticlimactic."
Marinette shrugged before taking another gulp of wine.
"To be fair, she wouldn't speak to me after the reveal. She'd only text me random crap. She went into full teenage Marinette mode," Marinette smacked her boyfriend on the shoulder as the other three or cracked up laughing.
"She told me she couldn't speak, that she had to go walk her cat." They began to laugh again and Marinette was ready to castrate her boyfriend.
"Agreste, I'm warning you." His girlfriend was not impressed. Marinette was not in the mood to be the centre of the joke.
"Ooo, dude, you've been last named," Nino broke his laughter, wagging a finger at Adrien like he was a naughty school boy.
"Don't you start, Lahiffe! I can throw you across Paris if you're not careful." In that moment Nino saw his life flash across his mind. Perhaps making fun of Ladybug was not his most sensible idea. He let out a cough before asking his next question in a very squeaky voice.
"What took you so long to get together? You've been pining after each other for years."
"We weren't ready as Adrien and Marinette. Honestly, I know it sounds insane as we're the same people, but Ladybug and Chat were so much closer, we were only just becoming best friends. There was no indication it would work so we didn't want to risk it." Adrien, being as eloquent as he is, couldn't have explained it better. Marinette turned around and placed a kiss to his soft lips. She loved him so much, and yes he was right perhaps it wouldn't have been so good if they hadn't waited.
The two stared into each other's eyes, oblivious to the smile their friends were giving them. The reflection in Adrien's eyes changed as another star went shooting past. Marinette couldn't help the smile taking over her face as her lips crashed against her Chatons.
"Star light, star bright ..."
"Nino, get away from the balcony edge, or we're through." Alya and Nino began a heated debate on whether wishing on a star was logically a good idea, for Nino's information it wasn't. Unbeknownst to the quarrelling couple, Marinette had been turned round to face her boyfriend.
As Adrien stroked down Marinette's face he leaned in towards her ear.
"On every shooting star since we received our miraculous I have wished for you."
