Good Friends: Anime and Homemade Gifts

I haven't a Scooby Doo about Anime so please just go with me on this one.

"Are you sure this is what you want to do for your birthday? I mean, you're turning eighteen it seems a little boring." Alya looked over at her boyfriend not understanding why this would be his birthday choice. Out of everything Nino could have chosen, they were currently stood outside the cinema for the new anime version of 'Ladybug and Chat Noir', not to say Alya wasn't thrilled but she didn't expect Nino to be as enticed by it.

"We'll go out over the weekend, but I wanted to spend the day with my girl and my best man, and the tag along." Responded Nino, face smirking as he looked towards Marinette.

"Hey! I detest that! I've known you longer then these two put together!" Nino placed an arm around Marinette's shoulder and led her over to the cinema entrance.

"Don't tell anyone, but you're actually my favourite."

The group burst into laughter as Alya pushed her friend out the way to link up with her boyfriend. The push was a little harder than expected though and sent Marinette tumbling into Adrien's chest.

"Hey."

"Hey yourself."

The two heroes smiled at each other before Marinette started a little excited dance.

"I've got a present for you. Just a little something to say thank you for the music video, and about your one hundredth pep talk."

"That's what I'm here for." He smiled genuinely at her as she brushed her hair behind one ear. Again tonight she looked beautiful, hair down and glowing in the moonlight, pink skirt moving fluid around her thighs. No one could say Marinette Dupain-Cheng wasn't a beautiful girl.

"I hear you've met up with Luka a couple of times since the shoot?" He wanted to keep the jealousy out of his voice but he couldn't help it. She was still avoiding him per say, and it was starting to hurt. Yes he said they were only going to be best friends, and she was more than welcome to date whoever she wanted, but how he wanted it to be him.

"Yeah, he was so excited to show me the finished product. I've been going to the studio when I've had time to look. He deserves me to at least try to have time for him, especially after what I put him through when we were together."

"Oh, ok. So do you think you'll get back together again?"

Marinette stared at Adrien with slight confusion, where had he got that from?

"No, definitely not. It's not fair with everything we have to do. I'm sure you'd feel the same way with Kagami. Whilst Hawkmoth is out there and I'm the Guardian, my duty is to the Miraculous, Paris, and to my dork of a partner."

The sound of his laughter rang through her ears and she marvelled at the sound. She loved his laugh.

"Are you ok with that though Mari, you deserve the world. You shouldn't have to hide yourself away. I promise I'll support you wherever I can. Babysitting kwami's, your patrol nights ... you name it." She knew he was being serious and the butterflies kicked up an notch. Since Adrien and her had revealed it had been a relief. To have these conversations with him. It truly was them against the world.

"I am. I've got you, and as hard as it was to get my head around everything, having you there for me and being able to talk to you as often as I need, well, it's all been so much better than I ever could imagine."

Adrien felt his heart swell at her praise. She was glad he knew, that's all he'd ever wanted ... well there was still one thing he wanted but he'd take his time. It's only fair. The wind picked up blowing the hair she'd placed behind her ear back into her face. Adrien could feel the twitch in his hand as he wanted, so so badly, to place the hair back where it came from.

"Come on you two! We need to get popcorn." Alya shouted towards the two most powerful beans in Paris, not realising that she'd taken them out of a moment. A moment Marinette was sure Alya would be fully supportive of.

"Ready M'Lady?" Adrien bowed, swinging a leading arm towards the doorway.

"Of course, Chaton. Let's see how wrong they get this version of us."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You don't get it Chaton, my love for you is never ending but until we defeat the awful Hawk Moth we are stuck in this turmoil forever."
"Just give me one night, M'Lady. One night where we can be free of the masks and suits to feel each other."
Ladybug leaned forward and kissed Chat Noir.
Suddenly, it began to get a lot more heated and Marinette felt herself wiggling in the seat. This was uncomfortable to say the least. She didn't want to look over at Adrien. Ladybug and Chat Noir on the screen were suddenly getting very well aquatinted as she, Ladybug, sat next to her very good friend, Adrien Chat Noir Agreste, sharing a bucket of popcorn.
"Say it, Bugaboo."
"Change me."
Marinette literally jumped up out of her seat, sending the popcorn everywhere.
"You ok?" Hissed Nino.
"Yeah, just dead leg." She responded, hearing the sound of chuckling next to her. Suddenly hot breath was in her ear.
"I wonder if our suits do that?"
The Ladybug and Chat Noir on the screen were now wearing very little and hugging each other very tight in a rather intimate way.
"What rating is this film? I didn't think we were seeing '50 Shades of Grey'." Marinette hissed.
"Don't you two get any ideas! This can't and won't happen." Plagg's nasally voice broke free of Adrien's over shirt.
"You can change your suits but we don't really want to be involved in that." Tikki responded. Marinette squealed quietly. This was embarrassing to say the least. She was sitting watching herself on screen, with her partner next to her watching the both of them getting rather frisky as their real kwami's found it funny. She heard Adrien giggle next to her again. Was he really finding this that funny?
"Hey, do you think the real Ladybug and Chat Noir get up to this sort of thing in their spare time?" Alya whispered over to her group of friends.
What Marinette wasn't expecting was for Chat Noir himself to respond.
"Naa, she's far to sensible to do something so risky on a rooftop. Though I'm sure Chat Noir wouldn't mind."
"Do you think she's a prude?" Alya responded.
"Maybe." Nino whispered back.
Marinette's face could not grow anymore red. It was at that moment she decided that a restroom break would be ideal. There was no way she was staying to watch the screen and listen to her friends.
"I bet she's like lightning in the sack."
Marinette wasn't too sure who said it but she was out of there.
Once she was in the cubicle she slumped down on the closed toilet seat.
"What the hell was that?" She said exasperated, indicating for Tikki to fly up next to her.
"Don't worry Marinette it was just a movie. It's make believe." Marinette groaned and placed her hands over her eyes.
"But I'm still there with him and can't help but want ... I want ... argh!" No way was she admitting, TO ANYONE, what was currently running through her head. She wasn't thinking, at all, that now they'd revealed she could actually do ... things ... like ... that ...
"I need to go home!"
"Do you want me to find Adrien?"
"Tikki, what? Hell no, after seeing that! I don't think I could face him for at least a couple of weeks, maybe months, actually no let's go for years." Marinette stood up and flushed the toilet out of habit before washing her hands and making her way out the door talking "to herself", if anyone was to ask.
"I'm just going to text Alya and go home."
"And here I was hoping I could be your knight in magical leather." Marinette's eyes shot up and looked over at Adrien leaving against the opposite wall. He was in the stereotypical model pose, foot on wall and arms folded over chest, and she would have done anything to smack it off him. Why did he always have to look so hot?
"I don't want to take you from the movie. I'll be ok. I can make it home."
"It's fine, honestly. It was all getting a bit too much, and besides who needs to watch a movie when I get to see the real deal everyday."
"Stop flirting, I'm already uncomfortable enough." She sent him a shy smile from under her eyelashes as they made their way out of the building and towards his car.
"What are we going to tell Alya and Nino?" She asked.
"I told them my father messaged. He needs us both in work. Material emergency. You know how silk gets!"
Marinette smiled as Adrien sent her one of his mischievous winks.
"After all," he continues, "that's what best friends do."
Once in the car it didn't take long for the Gorilla to get them back to the bakery.
"Home sweet home." She sighed. The journey back was spent ripping the movie to bits. There was nothing about it even slightly realistic. From Ladybug's continued bossiness to her fear of cats, all whilst Chat Noir was useless. This had caused anger to course through Marinette's veins, he wasn't just a sidekick. He was her partner and she wished people could get that through their thick skulls.
"Wait there." Adrien jumped out of his door and ran round to grab hers.
"Thank you kind Sir."
"You're welcome, Princess."
She froze at the nickname, forgetting that he always called her that. Well, Chat Noir called Marinette that. His hand reached the back of his neck obviously feeling just was awkward as she did. There was still so much to discuss and work through.
"Oh, I've got this for you." Looking into her bag, Marinette pulled out a small parcel, wrapped in Ladybug paper.
Adrien looked at her in awe as he ripped the paper open. Marinette could imagine the excitement of him on Christmas morning just from watching this one interaction. Oh how she wished she could spend such events together, properly together ... what had this movie done to her? He pulled out two tshirts, one for himself and one for Plagg.
"I know you like Star Wars and I just thought, knowing Plagg's personality it'd be funny for you both to wear them." Marinette was winding her fingers between each other nervous for Adrien's reaction, when she heard the angelic sound of his voice again, she knew he understood it.
On Adrien's adult tee were the words 'I love you' and Plagg's a simple 'I know'.
"These are brilliant." He scooped Marinette into a tight hug and she basked in the smell of him and his Adrien fragranced perfume. "Thank you Marinette." She went to turn away as he spoke again.
"Oh, um ... I spoke to my father about something and hopefully you'll agree."
"What is it, Kitty?
"You know my father is throwing this ridiculous eighteenth birthday ball for me?"
"Of course, it's been on my calendar for months." She nodded.
"Well I asked him if instead of him designing my outfit I could commission you."
"I bet that didn't go well." Marinette responded. Adrien's face began to brighten with a smile.
"He actually said yes." Adrien began to walk towards the door to the bakery.
"What? Really? That's so not like him." She followed on Adrien's heels, completely flabbergasted from what she'd just heard.
"There's more too it though." Adrien continued. "I don't need an answer now, but please think about it."
"Oh, ok."
"Well father wants to make you a matching dress, and he's told me to invite you as my plus one."
"He wants us to go together?" What was wrong with Gabriel Agreste? This didn't sound normal.
"Yeah, he was quite adamant. Also, he wants you to charge him full cost for the suit." Marinette's jaw dropped wide open. No way was this happening! "Have a think and let me know tomorrow on patrol, or whenever."
Adrien bend down to kiss Marinette's cheek. He'd broken her well and truly. Mouth still slightly agape and her feet frozen to the spot.
"See you tomorrow, M'Lady." Adrien made his way back to his car and climbed in, waving out the window as Marinette waved staccato back.
"Uh ... see you to ... mo ... tomo ... haha. Oh no, not again." She placed her hands on her cheeks as she climbed her way up the stairs and into her bedroom. Thank god her parents were asleep. They'd have her thrown into an asylum from the look on her face, she was sure.
By the time she had done her usual nightly routine and climbed into bed there was a message waiting for her.
Kitty <3
A snort left her mouth as she looked at the picture. There was Adrien and a drawing of Plagg in their new tee shirts.
She swore she'd never seen anything cuter in her life.
