Chapter Three
Natsu's P.O.V.
It was the day of the ball and the kind would soon arrive. We already had an early visitor.
"Oliver! Long time no see." Savannah grinned. I stood off to the side, drinking some wine. There's a law against this, but if you're king, you can drink even if you're underage. The red liquid was quite unappealing, but it numbed my mind a bit. Made me loose enough to talk to a bunch of people I hardly know.
"Yeah, I know. Hard to believe I was made king. I was a noble for the longest time." Oliver joked. Oliver had short wavy hair and brown eyes, slightly buck teeth and pale skin. He was slightly overweight, but you didn't really notice. He seemed alright, but it was hard to believe he ruled the Frozen Kingdom.
"Sir, another guest has arrived. The King from the Summer Kingdom." A servant informed. I smiled and nodded. A girl no older than eleven walked in.
"This is the new king? Shouldn't it be a guy?" Oliver questions.
"I was chosen because I'm smart and able to be a leader!" The girl exclaimed proudly. I smiled at the girl. Her skin was soft Carmel and she had these wonderful gold eyes. Her teeth were pure white and she stood at about 4'5. Adorable little girl. Her hair was auburn and tied back into a braid that trailed all the way to the bottom of her back. She wore a poofy white dress and white flats. Adorable.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Natsu." The girl smiled back and pointed at my hair.
"I like your hair!" She giggled.
"Thanks, it takes a lot to keep it this way." I inform.
"When are the others getting here?" She asked.
"Soon. I never caught your name." I say, urging for a name.
"My name is Iris!" I smiled slightly. Her name seemed to fit her.
"Would you like something to drink?" Savannah questions.
"I'll have what he's having!" She pointed to my drink.
"Not a good idea. How about you have some juice instead?" I suggest. She nods and soon was handed a juice box. The four of us chat and wait for the four other kings to arrive.
"Is it just me or are there some damn young kings now?" A man joked walking in. He looked about twenty five at most. Maybe younger.
"Oh, it's you Liam." Savannah rolled her eyes.
"Still pissed off about the last ball?" The man had blond hair and tanned skin. His eyes were a rainforest green. Well, one was, the other was as blue as the deep ocean.
"Yes. Most women don't like it when someone drops a spider down their dress." Savannah frowned.
"I apologized, didn't I?" She ignores him.
"Natsu, this is the king from the Kingdom of the Sun." Savannah introduced.
"I'm apparently the only king who attended the last ball. Though, I thing the king from the Culture kingdom is still alive and well. He is a year younger than me after all. I'm twenty three." There are a lot of young kings.
"Talking about me asshole." A dark skinned man walked in, the whites of his teeth shining at us. He had a big build and his hair was darker than the depths of hell and space. His eyes were a dark brown, but he looked really friendly. All of us wore dumb suits.
"Hey Caleb." Caleb frowned at Liam.
"Did he disrespect you in any way, mistress Savannah?" Caleb asks.
"Not yet." He smiled again.
"So we're waiting for only one king now?" I question.
"Apparently." Oliver shrugged. Two people walked in. They looked both European and American.
"Savannah! We're so sorry, our king is going to arrive a little late. During the ball I believe." The man had said.
"David, Sam, thanks for telling us. This is our king Natsu. The others I'm sure you already know." The pair nodded. We talked until the ball had to begin, the final king not yet here.
Gilbert's P.O.V.
I climbed the stairs, entered the front door, a glass of wine being handed to me. I shrug and continue my walk, waiting at the door to be announced.
"You must be King Gilbert." A butler questions. The doors opened and I was introduced to a large crowd, talking their ears off. "Now arriving, King Gilbert Butler of the Untied Kingdom." I smiled politely as people smiled back. But, a sound seemed to break the complete silence. A glass had been dropped. Everyone turned towards the person who caused the noise and I saw a pink head of hair. Natsu? No, couldn't be.
The crowd started to part as the person pushed their way through. I climbed down the stairs, wanting to see who it was. When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I was greeted by an old friend. The necklace I have him was still there. I pulled out my pocket watch and we knew without a word.
"It's been awhile Natsu." I grin as he grins back.
"We did promise to meet again one day, didn't we?" I put the watch back in my pocket and weighed the pros and cons of hugging him, but he reacted for me, yanking me into a hug. He soon released me knowing my hatred of most human contact.
"Still the same as always. I had no idea you were king." I said as we walked towards everyone.
"Same here. Well, what matters is that you're here now." Natsu informed as we walked.
"Your majesties." A women bowed.
"Savannah, you don't have to bow. It's awkward." Natsu muttered. His face was slightly red.
"Savannah? Sam and David told me you were quite a lot to deal with." I note, remembering what the nobles had told me.
"What? No! Savannah is such a mother like figure, too overprotective." Natsu chuckled.
"I have to have a word with those two. Wait...." Savannah took a deep breath. Oliver who was standing near us sighed and covered his ears. Even Natsu sighed.
"She gets what she wants. If she has to drag someone down with her, she'll do it. And she has quite the mouth in her. I have never heard so many swear words at one time." Natsu smiled. I looked at her as she prepared to scream.
"David and Sam, I fucking swear to god that I will drag you to the depths of hell! How dare you make fun of me like that!" She ran off and we saw two flustered people leave as she neared.
"They also said something like it was her fault they were immortal." I informed.
"Yeah, it is. She told me about it. You know how this world is teetering with supernatural beings, but they were wiped out in the war?" Natsu questions.
"Yeah, everyone knows." I snort.
"Well, when they were younger, they got themselves into some trouble and were made internal by a group of gay vampires. There was about eight of them in total. From what she said, the youngest one was having sex with the other seven." Natsu shrugged.
"Gross." I scrunched my face.
"Yeah. Him liking men, acceptable, being with seven other guys? How is that possible?" Natsu grumbled. Natsu and I, even if we had been apart for eight years, still have the same opinions and ideas. I was glad he hadn't fixed his hair, pink suited him.
"Oh, it's time for the dance! This shall be interesting." One king said. I think Natsu grumbled Liam.
"Why do we have to dance?" Natsu grumbled.
"Huh?" I question curiously.
"It's tradition for the queen of the North Kingdom and the United Kingdom to dance together. Since neither of you are married, you have to dance together." Savannah said as she came back to us.
"It be like when we were kids. So Natsu, don't worry and follow my lead. You're smaller than me anyways." Natsu rolled his eyes and rejected my hand as we walked towards the center of the dance floor. Though, as to make it less awkward, the other kings paired up. The little girl was dancing with Savannah and I think Sam and David were going to dance together. As we all got into place, one of my hands grasping his and the other on his hip, the music began and we were swept away.
Step by step the music took us on a journey. A sweet song about our past. You could hear it in the notes, for not a single note came from anyone's mouth. The violent sang as the harp chirped, fitting into a sweet melody. Natsu had his other hand not in mine on my shoulder and we were smiling. This was oddly fun. Awkward, but fun. When the music ended, others continued to dance while Natsu and I went to get some more wine. What I did with my glass, I can't even care to remember, but it didn't matter.
"Hard to believe it huh? Even after this ball is over, we won't really get to see each other." I sighed.
"You had a lot not told to you. This ball is day one of festivities. It lasts about a month. It only makes sense you don't know about it." Natsu smiled at me.
"We do have a lot to catch up on though. Also," Natsu turned pink at the ears. "Your hair looks better white than it ever did blond." He mutters.
"And your hair looks better pink." I comment. We walk out to a balcony, the harsh night blowing warm winds in us. June first, twenty two thousand and forty five. World war three was over a century ago. Even so, there had been so many rulers. Very few actually lived to old age. The moon was full, the color slightly red. It was a rare occurrence and shouldn't have happened today. The stars shone brightly across the vast expanse of sky.
"Hey Gil?" Natsu sighed, as if remembering something bittersweet.
"Hmm?"
"Remember when we started kindergarten? After our first day, we stayed out all night in the roof, looking at the stars. I can remember it like it was yesterday." He smiled.
"You remember fourth grade when Jessica kissed you? You were crying about it for two hours." I teased.
"You weren't any better when Amy kissed you in fifth grade." Natsu snorts.
"I wonder what they're doing now?" I question out loud. That was our entire life. What were they doing now?
"Yeah, that's the big question huh? That and 'How am I going to marry someone?'" Natsu sighed.
"Yeah, I just don't know anyone who I want to be with, much less marry." We both sighed this time.
"I want to go back, back to that night we got chosen. I want to be kids again and live normally." Natsu admits, holding a hand to the sky.
"They take us out of our homes and never stop to ask, 'are you happy?' I haven't been happy since I left the country eight years ago." I admit myself.
"The kings are staying at the castle and few of them are buddying up, you want to stay with me?" Natsu questions.
"Sounds great."
Savannah's P.O.V.
I chew my nails watching the two. A nasty habit, I know, but I do it when I'm nervous. I was extremely nervous. Kings weren't supposed to know each other before they were kings, they weren't supposed to regret being kings. I don't want a repeat of what happened with the old kings. No one knew how they died, but I did. They were both murdered by their nobles. I was one of the nobles, but I didn't kill.
It was how things went, if a king finds out the secret of this government, they have to disappear. I never liked it, the very idea of bloodshed was horrible to me. The very thing gave me and my friends fangs for eternity. I knew that soon, I might have to a weapon to Natsu, the person who was like a son to me. It scared me so much. I didn't want to even think about it. Yet, I knew the time was coming soon. But- THE KINGS DON'T DESERVE DEATH!!!
