Chapter 10: Dol's Origin

(Oozai Realm)

Within the punishing, unending snowstorm, there was a huge mansion atop a hill giving off an ominous vibe to whatever creatures happened to be around.

Inside, Gohma, Dol, and Yolmah were in the dining room, planning new ways to aquire William's soul. Thanks to Gohma being a pink Oozai, Dol's cracks and scars were now healed. He now wore a black leather jacket, and a heart-shaped locket around his neck.

(Gohma)"It's clear that William is a difficult opponent in a one-on-one fight, so our next attempt should involve two or more Oozai who work best as a team."

(Yolmah)"I know of a trio who're nearly invincible when working together, though only two of them are Oozai, the other is actually a Human."

(Dol)"Why not just send me after this boy? My ability would tear him apart with little effort."

(Gohma)"I could do that, yes, but we must ensure that our important assets stay out of Zoozai's hands. If he was to capture you, Yolmah, or anyone who's seen this mansion, then we'd have nowhere to hide."

In order to avoid Zoozai's gaze, Gohma had created a magical barrier around his place of residence, so powerful that the Order of Execution cannot locate him, this goes for anyone who enters the building.

(Dol)"If that's the way you want to do this, then so be it. Not like it matters how, just as long as he dies, whoever does it isn't my problem."

(Yolmah)"I can contact them from the criminal underground, they've made a name of themselves just last year, turns out that Oozai have been on Earth before the boy."

(Gohma)"You go do that, the sooner we kill Gorgon, the sooner revenge will be upon us."

(Later)

Yolmah entered Dol's room, with the latter Oozai looking up at a clock he'd placed above the doorway, just like how it was in the prison he was held in. There was pitch black, not even the moon seemed to shine through the window, and the only thing that could be seen was Dol's red eyes.

(Yolmah)"Dol, could I ask you a question?"

(Dol)"What?"

(Yolmah)"You said that Zai had given you a life sentence, because you were immortal and couldn't be executed. How exactly did you gain this blessing?"

(Dol)"Blessing? If that's what you call it, then you definitely never heard my story. The whole Realm used to spread an urban legend of an unstoppable Force who couldn't be killed."

(Yolmah)"May I learn of this legend from the 'zai's mouth then?"

(Dol)"...Fine, doesn't matter anyway."

(11,000 years ago: Dol's Narration)

Many moons ago, when I was but a hatchling, life was just the way it had been for anyone else, peaceful at most, but with the occasional hardships. My father, Gelt, was a famous blacksmith, spending each day crafting blades and armor for traveling warriors, and made quite the fortune doing so. Most of his fame came from the fact that my family had the ability to manipulate iron, but with the side effects of not being able to use the Oozai Cannon or Bullet Magic. He could make blades ten times sharper than whatever a grinding stone could ever do, and he would make engravings in armor pieces that couldn't be done by any tool.

I grew up with that same power of course, but there was a problem, mine was unstable. Every time I tried to precisely form a dagger or axe, it would explode into a scatter shot of needles. Gelt was skeptical of me making a name for myself, but was supportive either way.

Then, my whole world changed. Around the time I was 17, I faced a reality check. My father was coming home from the capital selling his wares, and he accidentally stumbled into "Sakon Street", the slum area controlled by the gang of Booznians, and lead by an Oozai of the same name. Gelt fought bravely, but was easily killed. The Booznian who did it was eventually caught, but due to a lack of evidence, he was given a 5 year sentence.

Zai, the one who I thought knee true justice, just let him off easy. I was furious at this, he didn't deserve to be let free, let alone live. Even though I'd be labeled a criminal for what I planned to do, I new I was going to leave a mark on my soul, but I didn't care anymore. I was going to kill this man.

One night, a week after the Booznians release, I found him leaving some bar with a couple of his goons.

(The main Booznian will be identified by the whole name, and the other two will be called Booz)

(Booznian)"Hahaha! Let me tell ya, it's great to be outta that shit hole!"

(Booz)"They seriously had the nerve to send you to Kogron! They barely had any evidence you actually gutted that old coot!"

(Booz 2)"But hey, you didn't get the death sentence, you basically got off without a hitch!"

(???)"Don't jinx yourself now, you'll regret it soon enough."

(Booznian)"Huh? Who the hell said that?!"

(???)"Me."

I stepped out from the alleyway. Before I looked the way I do now, I had two round horns like most common 'zai, and my eyes, unlike the norm, had white sclera.

(Booznian)"Who're you?"

(Dol)"My name is Dol. Tell me, do you know of an Oozai named Gelt?"

(Booznian)"Gelt? Oh, I remember! He was on my turf, so I taught that boomer a lesson!"

(Do)"That's my father you're speaking about, the man you mercilessly killed! You've hurt my heart in a way no one can heal, and because of that, I'll judge you my way!"

The two lesser Booznians pulled out switchblades, and the third unsheathed a massive longsword.

(Booznian)"Now listen, boy. We don't give a damn if you're an Oozai or not, but nobody messes with the Sakon Gang!"

(Booz)"Yeah, step off! Unless you wanna get cut!"

(Dol)"You can stab me as much as you want, nothing will stop me today!"

(Booz)"Fine then, you can join Gelt in Hell!"

(No one's narration.)

The lesser Booznians advanced towards Dol going for his eyes. Without letting the pain stop him, he grabbed both knives, much to the thug's surprise.

(Booz)"The fuck you doing!? You wanna lose your fingers?!?"

(Dol)"Just try moving these, and you're both dead! I don't care about my life, you took the one thing I loved, there's nothing left for me to live for!"

He snatched a dagger out from the left gangster's hand, and stabbed him through his neck, killing him almost instantly. The second made a huge gash in the Oozai's face between his eyes, yet he still didn't waver. No matter how much pain he had inflicted on himself, even if he was tortured to death, Dol had only revenge on his mind. Dol created a magic spike and shoved it down the second thug's throat, shifting into a large orb halfway through, popping his head off like a cola cap.

(Booznian)"Y-You motherfucker!"

Before Dol could react, the Booznian took his blade and swung it diagonally across his abdomen, the cut wasn't that deep, but it hurt like hell, more than what was expected. It was like boiling water was injected into his massive blood vessels, and he fell to ground clutching his chest.

(Dol)"Th-The fuck was that?! It...It hurts!"

(Booznian)"Oh this? Just a special blade that heats up anything that it touches! That's what happens to people who get on my nerves!"

He walked over to the suffering 'zai, marking an imaginary "X" over his head. Then, with a swift motion, he cut off both horns. Thankfully blood doesn't flow through them, but that didn't mean he couldn't feel it.

(Booznian)"Y'know, this is just like hat happen with that geezer. He killed a couple of my men, but after a single strike from this bad boy, he was easier to kill than a baby bird!"

(Dol)"Y-You won't...get away with it...!"

(Booznian)"Oh, but I think I will! If I'm caught, they won't have any evidence wether it was self defense or murder, and I'll probably get another 5 year sentence. But hey, it ain't the first time I've been in the slammer! Now just the hell up and die!"

He brought the blade down, but go his surprise, Dol had caught it with both hands.

(Booznian)"What the?!"

(Dol)"I won't...lose...to you!"

Slowly, still gripping the blade, he forced himself to stand up, and he began to focus his iron magic. The sword grew sever spikes, going through the Oozai's hands, increasing the pain even further.

(Booznian)"Huh?! Your eyes...!"

As if his eyes were like jars, a black substance filled them from the bottom to the top, and he gave off a new aura, one of killing intent. But as he was preoccupied with this, his own sword turned on him, and went right through his chest.

(Booznian)"I-Impossible...! How did...?!"

(Dol)"Hm...you know something I haven't thought of until now? My family can manipulate any and all iron in a five meter radius."

(Booznian)"The...fuck...?"

(Dol)"Think about it, there's iron in blood, too..."

(Booznian)"Wh-Wha-"

That was all he could say, as he felt an excruciating pain in his gut, and seconds later, he threw up dozens of razor blades, completely shredding his organs. And with that, Dol's revenge had been achieved.

{Dol-LV: 5}

(???)"Hey! Stop right there!"

An Oozai soldier heard the commotion, but appeared just as the Sakon Gang members were all dead. He pinned Dol to the ground with a device known as a Man Catcher, and quickly dragged him to the nearest jail cell. Dol didn't fight, didn't scream, didn't even try to explain himself, for he had done what he needed to do, and had nothing left, no ambition in life. His soul had become hollow.

Months later, he went on trial in the royal palace, for the King was going to judge him. Dol was standing in front of an alter, hands chained together, a Kogron Magic Inhibitor on his neck, two Royal Guards by his sides, ended with Nova standing right behind him, ready to strike if he tried anything.

The jury consisted of 50 of Zai's Royal Retainers, Oozai who live to serve the King and his future children until the day they die. After what seemed like an hour, Father Pincher entered the court room. At this point, he'd taken up the religion of Christianity, so he had that book called a "Bible" in his hands, which had yet to have the two holes in his palms.

(Pincher)"Everyone, we've come here to decide the fate of Dol, who's been suspected of the murders of three Booznians, who just so happen to be members of the Sakon Gang. Dol, before we begin the trial, how do you plead?"

(Dol)"...Not guilty. They had killed my father, I was just doing what I knew was best."

(Pincher)"I see then. Well now, all rise for his greatest...King Zai."

The room began to shake in a rhythm of one giant step, followed by four smaller ones, then giant one returned. After a few moments, the source of the noise entered the room. The smaller one was a pink Oozai, but unlike any other, he had long, neat white hair, and had white sclera like Dol back then. He wore a suit of pale armor with the kingdom's insignia on the chest plate, and had a bored expression.

The second was truly a sight to behold. The massive Oozai nearly reached the ceiling, which was at least 60 feet tall. On top of a black bodysuit, he wore several pieces of gold armor pieces. His skin was a cool purple, and the most recognizable features were his four arms, three eyes, and his horn formation giving the impression he wore a crown. This was the first living being the Heart created, Zai.

With a booming, yet gentle voice, he said, "You may be seated.", and the jury obeyed. For a second or two, Zai just stared at the defendant, almost as if he was hoping that this was all just a bad dream, and he'd wake up in a much more peaceful world. But no, this was reality.

(Zai)"...Why? Why have you committed this crime, Dol?"

(Dol)"Gelt, my father, was killed by that man, which you chose not to execute. I had no other choice but to take the law into my own hands."

(Zai)"I know you are hurting from Gelt's death. He was a good man, and I respected him, but revenge is not the way to deal with these matters. I wish I could be merciful with you Dol, but I don't know what else to do here. You have been charged with the account of three murders, you know what that means, do you not?"

(Dol)"Yes, I have made peace with this outcome. I knew you weren't going to understand me, and let me tell you this. If I had the power, I wouldn't hesitate to kill you for turning my soul black..."

A gasp could be heard from the jury. The guards and Nova were on guard, but Zai had them lower their weapons with a wave of the hand.

(Zai)"That's the way you feel of me...I'm sorry I cannot be the ruler you want me to be. But with the evidence, as well as your confession, I have no choice but to sentence you to death by beheading. May God have mercy on your soul..."

(Dol)"Whatever, this trial was a waste of time."

(Zai)"...Court adjourned."

Months later, he sat in his cell, staring at the ceiling. He couldn't sleep, as his execution was going to take place first thing in the morning. He thought that he had no other regrets, but Dol still felt empty. He now had something else to hate: Zai. He didn't agree with his form of running things. If Dol had the authority, anyone who killed your love one was allowed to be killed with no questions asked. While he was thinking of this, he got this weird feeling, like somebody was watching him

(???)"Hey."

He turned his head and nearly jumped in fright at the sudden figure in his cell.

(Dol)"Wh-Who are you?! How'd you get in here?!"

(Omega)"Relax, I ain't gonna hurt ya! Name's Omega, and I'm here to help you with this whole death sentence thing!"

(Dol)"What? The fuck are you going on about? You wanna help me escape?"

(Omega)"Nnnnnno, not really. But! I can make it so they can't execute you!"

(Dol)"I...I don't know whether to believe you, are think you're just a hallucination. Wh-Whatever, I'll play along! How can you help me?"

(Omega)"With this little doodad, my friend!"

He handed him a stone dagger, one with a strange symbol on the hilt. (Ω)

(Dol)"...You want me to kill myself? That's a little counterproductive, don't you think?"

(Omega)"Nah, nah, listen for a second! That dagger is actually a powerful tool, used by a number of civilians where I come from. It can give you any one power to help you in the current situation."

(Dol)"Yeah? But there's a catch, right?"

(Omega)"Yeah."

(Dol)"..."

(Omega)"..."

(Dol)"...And that is???"

(Omega)"Oh right! You kinda have to strike your soul with it, and if you're not worthy, you'll die. And because you destroyed your soul, you won't be able to go to Heaven or Hell."

(Dol)"Wait, even if this is true, why do you want to help me?"

(Omega)"Dol, many call me a Demon, many call me God, but I'm just a guy who likes to help, no matter who it may be. So, I'll leave you to that, gotta get back to work on the next chapter."

(Dol)"Chapter? Wha-"

(Omega)"Bye!"

Before Dol could figure out what Omega had meant by that, the man was gone. Seeing as the Oozai was going to die either way, he decided to use the dagger on himself. He pierced his own soul, but instead of pain, he felt something greater. He felt like he was being filled with massive amounts of life energy, like a balloon being filled with water or air at a heavy rate. He felt more alive than ever before, he felt...like he could live forever.

The next day, it was time for his execution. Many Oozai assembled to witness it, Pincher was there to read off some Bible excerpts about the afterlife or something, Dol wasn't paying attention. The two executioners, Booznians with a large axe each, stood at both sides of Dol. They raised their axes, then promptly brought them down through the Oozai's head, cutting it clean off. But when they were about to leave, it was discovered that Dol had somehow not died. They had no idea what was going on, especially when his head reattached itself.

They tried again several times, but nothing worked. Once Zai got word of this, he simply decided to keep him in Kogron indefinitely. Fast forward a few thousand years, and here we are now.

(Present)

(Yolmah)"That was quite the tale, Dol. But what happened to the weird dagger, and Omega?"

(Dol)"The stone blade disappeared, and I haven't seen that man ever since, obviously because I was in jail the entire time."

(Yolmah)"Oh, right."

(Dol)"Well if that's all you wanted to know, leave me be."

(Yolmah)"Ok then, guess I should be contacting that team."

(Dol)"Yes, how about you go do that?"

He was about to walk away, but turned his head at the doorway.

(Yolmah)"Dol?"

(Dol)"What is it?"

(Yolmah)"Sorry about what happened with Gelt."

(Dol)"...It's fine, I'm already over it."

(Yolmah)"..."

With nothing left to say, Yolmah left Dol's room.

(Dol)"...Thank you."
