Korra was on her deathbed.

She was surrounded by all those she loved.

Asami was the only one missing.

Asami, and Tenzin, and her parents.

Years ago, Asami had died suddenly of pneumonia. The healers did everything they could, but, long before she was ready, Asami died at 42.

The others died in there own time.

When she closed her eyes, Korra could see them waiting for her.

Korra missed her wife.

Over the last 20 years, Korra had slowly deteriorated.

They said it was because of traces of mercury left in her bloodstream from when Zaheer attempted to kill her.

Korra didn't believe that.

Sure, yeah, maybe it was a factor. 

But she metalbent all of the metal out of her system a long time ago. 

She didn't get worse until Asami was gone.

Now she was almost gone.

She looked up at all those surrounding her. 

To Korra's left, Pema was sitting in her wheelchair by the bed, with her children Jinora, Ikki, Meelo, and Rohan surrounding her, with Kai beside Jinora.

On the other side, Korra's adoptive children looked down at their mother. June, a normally strong and stoic earthbender, was bawling her eyes out. Qin, a nonbender, was staring solemnly, their eyes shining. Korra knew they wouldn't cry, for they saw themself as the rock of the family. And Lee, poor little Lee, whom Korra had adopted just five years ago when he was a baby, didn't understand what was happening.

At the foot of the bed, Mako and Bolin sat, looking on at their lifelong friend. Bolin was sobbing, leaning on his brother. Tears were rolling down the side of Mako's face, and he arose, leaving Bolin curled in a ball, to hold Korra's hand in her final moments.

As he took her hand, she looked up at him, tears falling from her eyes.

With the last of her strength, she said:

"The letters... Look for... her..."

With those words, her diminished body fell into the pillows.

A yellow wisp rose from her mouth and flew away. 

Her eyes closed gently, and her mouth relaxed into a smile.

Mako fell to his knees at her bedside and screamed. "NO!" He broke down, sobbing, still holding Korra's hand. "No, no, no, no, no..."
