It was late in the evening now Rainpaw found out that he failed his assessment and Skybreeze passed

"I just want to be alone okay" Preypaw replied

He shut his eyes tight

"We are here for you okay" Rainpaw said

Preypaw drifted of to sleep

In the morning he left the den

"Preypaw I know it's hard but you can't just push everyone away" Shadowstalker said

He didn't reply to his father he only sat and waited for his mentor

"Preypaw it's alright everyone fails sometimes" Shadowstalker said

"Come on Preypaw" Cinderfrost said

And Preypaw got up and followed his mentor out of camp

"So what are you teaching me today" Preypaw asked

"stealth and tracking skills" Cinderfrost answered

They walked into a clump of tall grass

"You need to track me to where I'm" Cinderfrost said

And walked off deeper into the tall grass

He started to track his mentor after letting him get a little ahead

And he found Cinderfrost quickly

"Good now go hid and I'll come find you" Cinderfrost said

And she snuck off into the tall grass finding a hollow log and he hid inside

And waited for his mentor to find him he had also made a fake trial

He watched as his mentor walked by him

He didn't say anything about hiding in logs

His mentor returned looking around at the area

"Alright its done your good at hiding" Cinderfrost said

And Preypaw came out of the log

"You didn't say anything about hiding in stuff" Preypaw said

"That was clever of you making a fake trail for me to follow" Cinderfrost said

"Now let's return to camp" Cinderfrost said

And they walked back to camp

"You are checking the elders for ticks

After he finished

He was washing his paws in a stream

"Oh were you checking Softpelt for ticks so sad" Skybreeze said

She is obviously not being serious Preypaw thought

And she shoved him into the stream

And she walked away

He got out of the stream and shook his pelt dry

If Wintersnow was still her mentor she would have to take care of the elders for a moon he thought grumpy

He walked to his mentor

"Now what" Preypaw asked

"We are done for the day" Cinderfrost answered

"When m'I going to get a second chance to re-take my assessments" Preypaw asked

"I'm slowly making you do your assessments and you already passed one" Cinderfrost answered

He walked off towards the fresh-kill pile he grabbed a rabbit and dragged it over to the edge of camp

And he ate it

And he buried the bones of the rabbit

"Hey Preypaw don't you think the warriors should eat first because we have to hunt and fight" Skybreeze asked

Softpelt was eating nearby

"No elders and kits should eat first it's the warrior code" Preypaw answered

And he got up and walked into the apprentices den

I rather be in here alone than talking to Skybreeze he thought

"Hi Preypaw" Rainpaw said

Preypaw stayed silent

I'm going to have to spend two more days as a apprentice at least Preypaw thought

"Preypaw we are going on the dusk patrol" Cinderfrost said

And Preypaw came out of the den

The cats who were going with them were Riverclaw Skybreeze and Wintersnow

Great I have to be on patrol with Skybreeze he thought

They left camp and walked down the hill

"Hey with us moving camps the other clans don't know where our camp is" Riverclaw said

"So Cinderfrost do you think the warriors should eat first" Skybreeze asked

They walked to the border with dewclan

And they started to remark the border

"Well we are continuing our patrol" Cinderfrost said

And they continued there patrol

Preypaw didn't answer

"Come on Preypaw why aren't you answering" Skybreeze asked

Preypaw still didn't answer

"Hey Skybreeze it's obvious he doesn't want to talk to you so why don't you leave him alone" Riverclaw said

"Yeah leave me alone" Preypaw said

"You have been rude to me my hole life" Preypaw said

"She thinks everyone should care about her and she should win everything so because you stand up to her is the reason she picks on you" Riverclaw said

"I'm his sister" Wintersnow answered

They were walking back to camp

He spotted a mouse up the trail

He ran for it a swiped a paw a grabbed it delivering a quick killing bite

"I guess all dose games of hunter and prey helped" Preypaw said

And he carried his mouse back to camp his tail held high

Well he make me a warrior for spotting some prey no one else noticed he wondered

He dropped the mouse on the fresh-kill pile

The pile was almost empty now

Rainpaw was sharing a rabbit with Firepaw

"How do your patrol go did you have to chase any enemy clans off our territory" Rainpaw asked

"No one was on our which is a good thing because they respecting the warrior code" Preypaw answered

"You seem to think battles aren't fun" Rainpaw said

"You only think a battle would be fun because you have never had to fight before" Riverclaw said
