The Tale of Kasey Diaz (english)
Kasey's POV (Kasey's a boy, btw)
Hi. My name's Kasey Diaz, and this is my story...
When i was a lot younger, i had lived a normal life in Venezuela, with my mom, dad, and sister. The only thing different between me and my family was my appearance. You see. I had albinism, so i was born with white, curly hair and violet eyes. Other kids did make fun of me, but i didn't care. I was happy with my family, even if i was different. But, unfortunately, when i turned 6, we had got into a terrible car accident. My mother, Father, and sister, Jessica, didn't make it out alive, except for me, with a broken arm. I was on orphan from that point on and had to stay at an orphanage. When i first started living in the orphanage, the other kids made fun of my while hair. They would sometimes call me a tiny old man or sometimes, they'd even call me a freak. I had suffered through that torture until i turned 12. On my 12th birthday, I finally got adopted by a kind woman who actually thought my white hair and purple eyes looked beautiful.
She took care of me like i was her own child, and i treated her like a real mom, even though it wasn't the same. I started going to an actual school, but the bullying got worse. But, i somehow managed to get through all of middle and high school. I had successfully graduated high school and had decided to go to college in America. I had started packing, said goodbye to my mom, and had flew to Utah for college. When i came to America, everything was different than how it was back in Venezuela. I had hoped to make at least a friend or two during those 4 years. When i first got there, I had to share a room with this guy named Dylan. Unfortunately, Dylan wasn't a nice guy.
During the first few weeks of college, Dylan and his gang would often beat me up just for being different. I wanted to go back to Venezuela. I wanted to see my mom again. I didn't want to live in America anymore. Then, one night, as i was being chased by Dylan and his team of jerks, I had ran into this tall, buff guy. When he was Dylan and the others coming for me, he was able to fight them off and they ran away. He turned back to me and asked if i was alright, and he took me back to his dorm to get me cleaned up. The boy's name was Joel Barenson. He was an athletic British boy who had also moved to Utah for college. And... to be honest... he's a little cute... From that moment on, me and Joel had become great friends. Then, a few weeks after meeting Joel, i had met this girl named Carmen Rose. She was a beauty guru at the time and when she first took a look at my hair, she thought it was gorgeous. We had become friends and she would always try to break me out of my shell and to embrace my hair and eyes, and because of her, I did.
It's been 4 year since my whole life changed. I had graduated from college and got a job as a performer. Dancing had always been my favorite thing growing up, and now that i'm old enough, i can pursue that dream. Meanwhile, Joel (who is actually my current boyfriend) got a job as a construction worker. It also appears that Joel had a soft side. And Carmen had gotten a job as a teacher. Sure, it's not the job she wanted, but in the future, when she has enough money, she'll become the fashion model she always wanted to be. In the meantime, she'll just be making clothes whenever she's not teaching kids. My mom had actually moved to Utah after I had graduated. She visits sometimes for special events and holidays. And i now have more friends! The kids at my school had stopped bullying me during our last year and i had made more friends than i had thought on making. But, i think i'm perfectly fine with the two friends i have.
That was my story! I had been through some rough times, but everything turned out great in the end!
Remember: don't let others bother you because your different. Embrace your differences! Share them with the world!
