"Dad so guess what happened today!" Miyah explained as she stuffed her mouth with Mac and cheese.
"Miyah what did I say about eating with your mouth open?" He laughed.
Miyah paused and swallowed her food. "Sorry daddy..."
"Well tell me what happened."
"We were walking in the forest because Davis wanted to show me something he found but it was just pretend but then suddenly it was actually there. This big glowing gem right there in the middle of the forest I couldn't believe it."
"That's amazing Miyah, should of brought it home." He joked.
"We couldn't Mr.Elise it was too dangerous. The animals and creatures protect it." Davis said.
Miyah's dad laughed, "Come on Davis we can take them don't you think?"
Davis shyly looked away. "Maybe." He grabbed the chicken bone off his plate and swung it around like a sword. "When we are united no one can stand against the mighty trio!" He stated.
Miyah's mom walked back into the room with cornbread in her hands. "Hey what about me?" She asked chucking.
"Sorry ma'am but we're here to protect you." Miyah's dad said formally.
"Yeah mom you can't fight. That's our job." Miyah laughed.
"Are you saying I can't wield a sword as good as the rest of y'all." She grabbed the broom that leaned on the wall and held it up. "Anyone care to wager on that?"
Miyah's dad smiled and stood up. He turned to Miyah and Davis, "Don't worry I'll handle this." He looked around for a weapon and grabbed the stick off the broken mop. "Haha."
"Your definitely losing today!" Miyah's mom shouted before striking. They sword played with eachother until finally Miyah's mom outsmarted her dad and tripped him. He fell to the floor with a loud thump and a moan. She walked up to him and put the stick of the broom in his face, "Got you...again."
Miyah's dad slapped the broom away and sat up. "That was pure luck." He said angrily, unable to accept losing. They all laughed and sat back down to finish dinner.
Next thing Miyah knew it was time for bed. Davis had to sleep downstairs on the pull out couch because they made too much noise when they slept in the same room.
Miyah's mom walked in as Miyah put on her pajamas and jumped into bed. Her mom sat beside her and tucked her in. "Mommy?"
"Yes sweetie?"
"Do you think you can show me how to fight like you?" Miyah asked.
She laughed, "Maybe...can I help you guys fight the creatures in the forest?"
Miyah looked up to think about it. "Hmm...okay!"
They laughed and Miyah's mom kissed her goodnight, "Good now get a good night's sleep."
She started towards the door before Miyah looked up. "Mom?"
"Yes dear?" She asked turning towards Miyah.
"What if I have that dream again?" Miyah asked sounding frightened.
"Don't worry dear no rabbit is going to get into this house. I have to protect the family too now remember." Miyah smiled. "Now get some sleep you got big adventures tomorrow."
"Goodnight mom."
"Goodnight Miyah." The door was closed just enough to see the slit of light coming from the hallway and immediately Miyah dosed off in dream land.
In Miyah's dreams she was skipping down the street singing a chant with her lunchbox in one hand and her school bag on her back. "I'm gonna be a good girl all the way home. I'm gonna be a good girl all the way home!" Miyah looked back. "Come in mommy were going to be late!" She called as her mom walked down the block.
"I'm coming sweetie I'm coming." She called back giggling.
"Miyah! Miyah!"She turned around and seen her friends running down the street.
Miyah smiled and waved back. "Hiii guys!"
"Miyah look out!" She heard them shout.
Miyah looked at them confused and suddenly she looked up and seen the bright sunny sky turn into a cloudy fog. Miyah started to feel nervous and scared as the cold air began to blow. "Mommy?"
She looked down the block and seen her mom running towards her. "Sweetie!" Suddenly her mom vanished as if she wasn't even there. The streets were empty, not a person in sight.
Miyah began to panic and she looked around wondering where everyone went. "Miyah..." Miyah turned around and seen a rabbit standing right in front of her.
"Hi little rabbit..." Miyah said softly. "Do you know where everyone went?" The rabbit tilted his head and hopped in the other direction. "Wait!" Miyah ran after it.
The rabbit turned the corner as rain began to fall. "Wait-" Miyah turned the corner and the rabbit was gone. She looked around as she caught her breath and noticed a stuffed bunny on the ground.
Miyah picked it up and looked at it. Suddenly a note fell to the ground. She picked it up and it read... 'Hi I'm Mr.Greg your best friend.'
Miyah started to get a headache, the place started to spin. Immediately voices rang in her head. Follow the voice. Follow the voice. The voice holds the answers. The voice is the key.
And just like that the voices stopped and Miyah heard music. It echoed throughout the area. * Miyah felt drawn to it as if she had to follow it she thought maybe whoever was singing it would know where everyone went.
The voice grew louder as she walked through the woods behind the houses. The voice was beautiful and captivating like it was echoing and resonating through the trees.
Finally after a few minutes of walking she reached a place in the woods with no trees but a small abandoned house. Miyah was sure there wasn't a house here but there it was in plain sight and the singing was coming from inside.
Miyah looked at the stuffed animal in her arms as she reached for the door handle. "We'll protect eachother okay..." Miyah opened the door and a bright light shined.
She shielded her eyes until finally it stopped and she looked inside to see a little girl sitting in front of a piano. Once the girl noticed Miyah she stopped singing.* "Miyah Elise...it's great to see you...again..." The last word sounded like a demonic version of the girl's voice. "And of course...Mr. Greg too. I'm glad you found him." The last sentence changed the girl's voice too. Miyah actually began to see a overlapped version of the girl but it was too blurry to make anything of it and gave Miyah a bad headache. She stumbled back. "Miyah are you okay?" The girl asked.
"Who are you..." Miyah asked holding her head. She dropped the stuffed animal and yelped in pain from her headaches.
"Oh you don't remember...I'll fix that!" The girl slammed the low notes of the piano and laughed evily. Miyah began seeing visions of people and things she hadn't seen before. "Remember me now Miyah Elise!"
"Stop...please stop..." Miyah cried. Miyah turned around and stumbled to the floor. She looked up seeing a figure in front of her it was the rabbit from earlier.
"It is almost time...Miyah..."
"Run why you still can you brat!" The girl yelled demonically.
Everything went black suddenly and next thing Miyah knew she was in her room screaming. Her mom and dad rushed in. "Miyah what's wrong!?"
Miyah began to cry and they held her in their arms. She looked up and seen Davis in the doorway.
The time is nearly here...this puppet will have to play her part. This marks the beginning of the end and she is almost ready...
