"Come on Miyah hurry up your going to miss it!"

"I'm coming just hold your horses. Not everyone can run as fast as you Davis." Miyah caught up breathing heavily.

"Look just over there. Do you see it?" He pointed to a stump in the middle of the forest. It was the only part of the forest that wasn't surrounded by trees.

"What am I supposed to be looking at its just a stump."

"Just a stump that's crazy talk don't you see the gem on it?" Davis exclaimed.

Miyah squinted her eyes. "Nope still just see a stump."

Davis sighed. "Come on Miyah where's your sense of imagination?"

Miyah laughed, "Says the person that said playing hide and seek was a kids game."

"Aw quiet you. I still won." Davis said strongly.

"Liar you cheated!" Miyah called out.

"I did not!"

"Did too!"

"Did not!" Miyah jumped on Davis and he fell to the floor.

"Did too!" They laughed and rolled around the grass until Miyah pinned him to the floor. "I win...again."

"Get off me." He pushed Miyah off and started running.

"That's why I'll always be the fastest runner there is." He called back.

"We'll see about that!" Miyah retorted. Miyah stood up and suddenly stopped in her tracks. "Oh my pandas..."

"Come on Miyah weren't you the one that said you could beat me." Davis said walking back.

"I see it..." Miyah said softly.

"See what?" Davis asked.

"I see the gem..." She said.

"I thought you didn't want to play pretend."

"Davis I'm serious I can see the gem. Look it's right there." Miyah grabbed Davis arm and pointed. "See?"

Davis looked at the stump again. "Oh my lions..."

"Told you."

"Miyah that wasn't there before..." Davis said shocked.

"I know right..."

"Lets touch it." Davis suggested.

"No!" Miyah hollered. "Have you no brain if we touch it bad stuff can happen like it can trigger a trap or worse."

"Come on Miyah stop over exaggerating. Where's your sense of adventure?" Davis moved his hand towards the gem and placed it gently on it. The gem glowed a bright royal blue and shined throughout the forest.

Suddenly in a instant the glowing stopped and the gem was gone. Miyah and Davis looked at eachother and started laughing, "That was amazing!" He shouted.

"It felt so real as if it was really there. How is that even possible?!"

He laughed, "That's the power of imagination."

They laughed and then everything froze when they heard a loud rustling through the trees. They looked at eachother with scared looks. "We should get back, I don't think they liked us touching their gem." Davis said.

"Who's them?" She asked frightened.

"The creatures who guard the forest." He said. "Come on." He grabbed Miyah's hand and they began running back to the house. "Hurry there coming!"

As he said that it was like if the rustling grew louder as if someone was chasing them. Miyah looked up at the sky and the sun was beginning to set. "It's almost dark. What happens then?" Miyah asked looking around as she heard birds singing in plain sight but not seeing one.

"You don't want to know." He said softly.

Miyah turned and seen a dark figure up ahead in the trees. "Davis!"

He grabbed a sword lying in the ground and sliced the shadowy figure. "Shadows, that means night is almost here. We have to get out of this forest!"

"Up ahead another one!" Davis looked up and bumped into the shadow. They both fell onto the floor.

"Stay back shadow!" Davis cried swinging his sword rapidly.

Miyah looked up and seen her dad. "Playing pretend again?" He helped her and Davis up. "Is that stick in your hand your deadly sword?" Miyah's dad asked.

"Yes sir." Davis said proper like. He always seemed timid around Miyah's father.

"Well let's get you two brave heros cleaned up for dinner. Sound like a plan?"

Miyah looked back at the forest and it was as if she saw red eyes staring at her through the trees and bushes.

Davis nodded. "Hey Miyah I bet I'll beat you on a race inside."

Miyah turned to Davis "Your on!" She began running after him towards the house.

"I win!" Davis called out as he grabbed the door knob.

"No fair you cheated!" Miyah cried as she caught up,

"Did not!" He retorted as they walked inside.

"Did too!" Miyah yelled back. "Tell him daddy." They all went inside and closed the door.
