An Apology
✦
(Y/n)'s POV
I pulled myself away from my meditative state, and opened my eyes to the view of a dark field with strong winds that swayed the trees to one side. Hours I had been meditating to keep my emotions in check while trying to decide what I'm going to say to Master Yoda when I return home.
I know he wants Anakin and I to remain in our Master-Padawan duo, but I don't know if I can. Every time I start to think that maybe he's not that bad — he does or says something that brings me right back to completely hating him.
He tried coming out here not too long after a few other Jedi's arrived and took Moteé back to the Capital, but I told him to stay away from me for awhile. Much to my surprise, he listened and went back inside. I haven't seen or heard his voice since.
I almost died because he lied to me and it angers me that he's trying to act like it's not that big of a deal. All he needs to do is admit that he was wrong for lying and apologize. But with him being a narcissistic prick, an apology is the probably last thing I'm going to get.
I sighed heavily and uncrossed my legs to lay them out in-front of me, "Is saying 'I'm sorry' really that difficult?"
No amount of meditation has helped my frustration fade, I wanted to strangle him now just as much as I wanted to the second I found out he lied.
"And of course I'm the one he's going to label as unreasonable and dramatic," I continued venting to myself since I didn't really have anyone else at the moment, "Stupid jerk-" I dropped my hands down and ran my fingers and palms through the grass and into the dirt. As the small grains seeped underneath my fingernails, I gasped in surprise when the once dark field began to light up like it was the peak of the day.
The darkness disappeared as light came in like a wave on a beach washing it all away. Even the weather felt like it had changed — the once windy night was now a bright and cloudless day with little to no wind.
I looked around with wide eyes as the heat of the sun warmed my skin, "What the f-"
"Luke, get over here now!" My words were cut off by a familiar woman's voice shouting from the house behind me.
I got up from the floor and turned to face where the voice came from. Instantly a giggling little boy who looked to be around nine or ten years old with blonde hair ran past me. And running after him was Padmè — this version of her looked older though, at least by a few years.
Am I having another vision? I questioned myself, only because this one was different. The last vision was like I was watching it all happen in my head, but this one feels like I'm here as it happening.
"Please don't make me chase you again," Padmè yelled, out of breath.
He turned around to look at her with a wide and mischievous grin, "Catch me if you can Auntie Mae," He winked. His response made me smile, and I couldn't get over how beautiful I thought he was. Even from this far distance I could see his colored eyes twinkling under the sun and his smile that highlighted a small dimple on his right cheek. He kind of reminded me of someone too, but I couldn't quite place who.
Padme stopped just beside me and placed her hands on her knees while she caught her breath, her eyes never leaving the boy, "So much like your Father." She mumbled with a sad look in her eyes.
"What are you doing?" A little girl with brownish hair who looked to be around the same age as the boy, Luke, popped up out of nowhere.
Padme jumped in surprise with a loud shriek and placed her hand over her chest, her eyes shooting daggers at one of the most beautiful little girls I've ever seen. I swear both of these children screamed perfection to me, I couldn't explain it, "You need to stop startling me like that, Leia."
The little girl, Leia, shrugged with an innocent smile, "Try not to be so easy to scare Auntie."
Padme rolled her eyes, but she couldn't stop the corner of her mouth from tugging into a smile, "I was trying to get your brother to come inside so he could finish his homework, but he decided to run from me instead."
Leia sighed and crossed her arms over her chest.
She was so young, but had the attitude of a mature woman , "Well, Uncle sent me to find you, he's been looking for you."
Padme glanced at the house, then to the child in the field, "Alright I'll go see what he wants, think you can get your brother in for me?"
Leia rolled her eyes, "Are you sure we can't just leave him out here?"
Padme chuckled with a head shake, "No little Princess, now go get him so we can finish up and maybe I can convince your uncle to make a cake." She gently pinched Leia's cheek.
The girl smiled wide, "Can we have it with blue milk?"
Padme furrowed her brows, "Sweetheart, you're lactose intolerant."
"And?"
Padme raised her hands up in defeat, "Alright, blue milk it is, I'll see you inside and try to hurry up." She turned and walked towards the house, "So much like your Mother," She mumbled before leaving us alone.
Why am I having this vision? And whose kids are these? I guessed that the boy was Padmé's at first, but then he called her Auntie and not Mom, so it went back ti being a mystery.
She faced Luke who was standing at the far end of the field with a devious smile, "You have one chance, Lukey, surrender now before this gets ugly."
He stubbornly shook his head, "Like I would ever surrender to a girl."
Leia raised her brows before lifting hand and in one quick movement she closed her fist and pulled her arm back. Luke then lunged forward a few feet and almost fell on his face, "You were saying?"
Luke glanced up at her with annoyance and determination in his eyes, "Oh look sister, your shoes are untied," He flicked his finger to the left which tugged on her shoe strings and pulled her weight out from under her.
She fell to the floor with a low scream, and I rushed to check if she was okay but she had gotten back up before I even reached her, "You jerk-" She did the same thing that he did and pulled him to the floor by an aggressive tug in his shoelace.
I was laughing at the events with my hand over my mouth, this was pure entertainment.
Luke sat up with a sigh as he glared at his sister, "Don't forget that I'm older and I can wipe this floor with you, but I'm trying to be kind."
"By one minute," Leia pushed herself up from the floor and dusted herself off, "And age doesn't equal intelligence Luke, you're still a stubborn moron who took twice as long as me to lift a simple rock," She snapped in a way a sibling would snap at their brother; it was angry but not hateful, "Doing your written work is not that hard so go in, and finish it because you're standing in the way of me and cake right now."
I love that she has her priorities.
Luke groaned in annoyance and pushed himself up from the floor, "No-"
"Luke! If I have to come out there and get you, you'll be washing dishes for a month!"
The boy's eyes widened in fear and proceeded to run towards the house, "Coming Uncle Obi!" He rushed past his sister, but not without pushing her playfully to the side which prompted her to chase after him.
As soon as they were no longer in view, I felt like I was pulled away from the vision and brought back to my own time. The world around me was dark once again and I could now hear the sound of crickets instead of birds.
"Hello, did you hear me?"
I snapped my head up and to the side where I heard the voice from, "Huh?" I knitted my brows when I met Anakin's gaze. I didn't hear anything that he said, and I think it was actually him who pulled me out of my dream-like state. Should I share what I saw with him? I don't really see a reason too though, it had nothing to do with him.
He sighed as he placed his hands in his pockets, "I asked if we could talk."
"Does this talk include an apology?" I asked with a raised brow and stubbornly folded my arms over my chest.
He walked in-front of me and sat down so we were face to face, then he shrugged, "It might."
I began to move away from him, "No, I'll only listen if I'm guaranteed an-"
He grabbed my arm and pulled me back to the same spot, "Oh shut up, you'll get your damn apology just hold on." He mumbled after releasing my arm and looking down at the thin line of grass between us, "I have a lot of pride (y/n)-"
"Clearly."
He snapped his eyes up with a threatening glare in them, "Stop being so fucking annoying," He pulled grass out from the dirt and threw it at me. I chuckled and wiped it off of me as he went back to talking, "And sometimes that pride gets in the way of a lot of decisions that I make, and they're not always the best." He sighed and looked back down, "A part of me really was trying to protect you, but I'd be lying if I said my intentions weren't also a little selfish. I was wrong and I should've trusted you enough to not lie about it. And you were right, if you had died, it would've been my fault and I'm really sorry I put your life in danger."
I slowly smiled, that is all I wanted, "That wasn't so hard, was it?"
He snorted, "It was incredibly painful, and I'm even feeling a little nauseous right now."
I tilted my head and smacked his arm, "Don't ruin it."
He gently picked at the grass with a smile, "So does this mean you forgive me and you're not gonna rat me out to the council?" He held a small dandelion towards me.
Ah, so that's why he's apologizing.
I took the dandelion and spun the stem between my fingertips, "Yes I forgive you. But I can't promise you that Master Yoda won't be hearing about any of this." This isn't to spite him either, I just tell Master Yoda everything. He's not only a Grandmaster to me like he is to most, he's also a good friend.
Anakin leaned forward and gently pushed my shoulder, "Come on, don't be like that, I promise something like this won't happen again," I still said nothing as I continued to spin the dandelion, "Okay how about this, if you can get rid of all the petals in one blow, I'll tell them myself. But if you don't, then you don't tell them and we put this whole thing behind us." He smirked as he grabbed my hand from the bottom and raised the dandelion up, close to my lips.
"No," I smirked back, "You do it, if you get rid of them all then I won't say anything, not even to Ahsoka." She'd probably kill him.
He tightened his hold on my hand that was holding the white dandelion, "Challenge accepted," He mumbled before he started to inhale as much air as he could. Slowly he began to empty his lungs and white petals flew off of the stem and floated in the air between us. I chuckled when a few grazed against my skin and tickled my cheeks.
Soon Anakin started to run out of air and when he stopped, he was upset to see one single petal left.
With my eyes, I used the force to pick the petal off and raise it up so it was between us at eye level. He was staring at it in surprise for a moment, before he shifted his gaze to me and we became locked in a short stare-down that thickened the air between us.
I was even starting to feel my heart pushing against my rib cage, but I quickly snapped myself out of the strange trance.
My smile widened after I took a deep breath to compose myself, "Consider us even now since you took care of me last night and this morning." I doubt helping me throw up after I swallowed a large amount of mouthwash is what he would consider a good time.
He glanced down at the grass and picked another dandelion, "Even it is," He held the flower up between us with a sweet smile, "Now it's your turn, get them all off and I'll take you to the meadows first thing in the morning before we go home."
"Sounds easy," I brought my hand up and ripped off all the petals with my bare hand.
"That's cheating," He argued, "You're supposed to blow."
I shrugged, "You said to get them all off and I did, you never said how I was supposed to do it. So next time be more specific."
"God you're so annoying," He narrowed his eyes before aggressively throwing the stem away. He then grabbed a new flower and placed it between us, "Let's try this again."
