The Feeling is Mutual
✦
(Y/n)'s POV
"It's fine, I got the bags," I glared at my Master as I dropped both mine and his bags on the cockpit floor. Padme had her own, which she gently set down against the wall.
Anakin nodded, his eyes glued to the droid he rolled up the ramp, "Cool, thanks." He responded, completely missing my sarcasm. He bent down and inspected his new friend as I pressed the button for the ramp to close, "You two know how to fly, right?" He asked as he stood up and began rolling the droid out of the cockpit and towards the door which led to the bacn of the ship. Which is where I remember him mentioning he keeps his tools and a small workbench.
"Not reall—and he's gone," I sighed when he disappeared from my view and I dropped myself down into the co-pilot seat. He really just ditched me for droid; either that or he's still avoiding me like he has been since the meadows. I still don't fully understand what happened, but on the bright side, he cut the training early to mediate far away from me. So I had plenty of time to gather flowers and even herbs with medicinal properties that I think will benefit us in the future — I already stored them away on this ship somewhere.
The chair next to me creaked and I watched as Padme began pressing buttons, the ship roared to life moments later, "I learned how to fly when I was only thirteen, I can teach you if you'd like." She offered with a soft smile, "It's more simple than it looks."
I sat up straight before leaning forward, accepting her offer. I'd rather have her teach me instead of Anakin anyway, she seems like she holds a lot more patience, "Sure," I smiled back.
Slowly she explained everything to me as she did it. She even shut the ship off just to show me how to properly turn it on, and she let me fly us up into the sky, "Now, it's going to shake a little bit when we break the atmosphere, so you're going to have to steady it." She instructed and moments later, just as she said, the ship began to violently shake.
A little bit my ass.
I tightly held onto the wheel and steadied it as much as I could. Thankfully the shaking began to slow down and eventually stopped, so we were now just drifting aimlessly in space, "And for hyperspace I just put the coordinates here right?" I dropped my hand down to what looked like a keypad.
She nodded, "Yes and the coordinates to Coruscant are-"
"I know what they are," I cut her off as I typed it in, "They brand it into our minds when we're younglings just in case we ever get into a situation where we're lost off planet."
I pulled the lever I know I've seen Anakin pull and the ship zoomed forward into hyperspace after a few seconds of it powering up, "Makes sense," She mumbled with a slow nod, "Tell me (y/n), do you enjoy your life as a Jedi?" She asked while turning her chair to face me.
I shrugged, "Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, it really depends on the day." She hummed in acknowledgment as she glanced down and played with the fabric of her outfit, "Why do you ask?" I turned my chair so I was facing her.
"Just curiousity." I've always been curious about the lives of the Jedi, it's so different," She uttered, "And um- I'm sorry about what Moteé did to you. She was supposed to be my friend and she was after me so I feel like I'm the one to blame for putting your life in danger."
I waved my hand in dismissal at her unnecessary apology, "Please do not blame yourself-" I leaned forward and placed my hand on top of hers, stopping my words in my throat.
I was hit with a white light and then suddenly my surroundings had completely changed. I was back in Naboo, standing in the kitchen where I was looking right at Obi-Wan who was peering out of the window above the sink — his older eyes watching the same pair of children I saw in my previous vision.
Padme strutted into the room and placed her hand on top of his that was resting on the counter, "Leia tells me you're looking for me." She said and I glanced at her outfit, realizing this vision was a continuation of the one I had before.
He sighed and placed his hand on hers, "We might need to move again," He said low, "He's been getting close lately," He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, "I can feel him."
Padme placed a hand on his back and gently rubbed it up and down in a soothing manner, "You know he won't come here, it brings up too many memories for him. And the children love it here." She sighed as well.
"I know it does," He glanced down, "But it's been years love, who's to say what he once felt is even there anymore. And I can't risk their well-being, I promised their mother I would always protect them, even from their..." He trailed off and looked down with sadness in his eyes.
"And you have done an amazing job these past ten years, they are good kids," She looked out fo the window and gestured to the children who were fighting, "Most of the time," She corrected, "Luke has been absent when it comes to his studies, the little devil ran away from me."
Obi-Wan smiled, "Reminds me a lot of his father at that age," His smile then slowly fell, "Not sure if I should find that worrisome or not."
"You shouldn't, he's a sweet boy and he has so many of his mothers qualities," Padme gushed over the little boy as if he were her own, "As does Leia, they're a perfect balance of them both."
Obi-Wan nodded in agreement, "I supposed you're right, I just can't help but worry. I love them both and I don't want to fail them like I failed their parents."
Padme began began to soothe him by caressing his cheek, "You didn't fail anyone, he made his choice and she made hers. Now please let's stop with this sad talk and have dinner with the kids, try and get Luke inside so he can finish his work while I get something ready."
His eyes followed her as she walked to the other side of the kitchen like he wanted to say more. But then he looked away, indicating he was going to remain silent, and opened the window, "Luke! If I have to come out there and get you, you'll be washing dishes for a month!" He yelled and paused for a moment with his ear facing the window.
"Coming Uncle Obi!" The boy shouted.
Obi-Wan smiled at Padme who smiled back after closing the fridge, "Works every-time."
Suddenly the image around me became disoriented before shifting back into the ship. I pulled my hand away from Padme who was eyeing me with confusion, "Are you okay? I feel like I lost your for a minute there." She joked.
I placed my hand on my head and nodded as I re-imagined everything that happened. Why am I having these visions and why now? I went years without them and now I'm having three in the span of two days, "I think so, um- I'll be right back," I stood up from the chair and went the same direction Anakin went. I think it's time to tell him about this before it becomes too overwhelming for me to deal with alone.
I strutted down a small hallway and made a left into the room he claimed is his workshop. When all it had was a single bench and a few tools laying around. He was currently sitting cross-legged in-front of the Astromech droid working on his inner wiring, "Master, can we talk?" I asked as I walked in.
He snapped his eyes up for a brief moment before looking back down, "Is it important?" He questioned while returning to his work.
I nodded, "I've been having these strange visions lately-"
"So not important." He interrupted me and I took a step back as I blinked in surprise.
"Not-" I furrowed my brows, "Not important? How is it not important, and why are you being so mean?"
"I'm not being mean," He sat up and dabbed a few beads of sweat away from his forehead, "I'm just busy right now, so just tell me whatever it is that you came to tell me so I can get back to it." He gestured to the droid before dropping his arm down lazily and eyeing me with a bored expression.
"You know what," I backed away, "Never mind I don't need to feel like I'm a burden." Serves me right for thinking I can go to him for help... even though he offered his help. Stupid bipolar, narcissistic, arrogant, asshole.
I spun on my heels to leave and took one step before I was being pulled back by a grip on my arm, "What the hell did you just call me?" He tugged on my arm and turned back around. My eyes drifted up slowly until they met his - slightly terrified.
I hadn't realized I said that out loud...
"I said what I said," I stood my ground. There's no going back now, "What are you gonna do about it, Master?" I challenged him, something I doubt anyone has ever really done with him. Most people at the temple, besides the obvious few, give this golden boy everything he asks for and treat him like royalty.
But not me, I don't care what his title is. If he's an asshole, I'm going to make sure he knows it.
He raised his gloved hand up and squeezed it next to my face, the sound of the leather crinkled, "You-" He got closer and his nose brushed close to mine as he continued staring me down, "You are the most annoying person in the temple, and I wish to the gods I never met you." He spat bitterly.
"The feeling is mutual," I shoved his chest, but not with full strength. In fact, he barely even moved, "You are the rudest person I have ever met, and a shitty Master." Okay that last one wasnt true, he has done a good job in certain aspects, but I was pissed and saying just about anything right now out of anger. I came to him because I needed him, and he made me regret it.
"Anything else?" He eyed me up and down.
I nodded, "Yup, you have no regard for others feelings. You're selfish, unpredictable, and confusing. Because one minute you talk to me like I'm a person and the next minute," I gestured to him, "You have me wanting to go straight to Master Yoda so this," I gestured between us, "Can be over and done with since we're clearly not a good match."
"Then what's stopping you?" He walked forward, causing me to walk backwards until my back hit the wall, "Hm?" He tilted his head, "Go ahead and tell him." He challenged me back as he raised his arm and rested it on the wall above my head as he lowered his face close to mine.
"I will," I said breathlessly, my eyes involuntarily dropping to his lips before I glanced back up. It was happening again, the air between us thickened, followed by a heavy feeling my chest and fluttering in my stomach.
He slowly raised his other hand and used the back of his fingers to brush hair behind my ear, "No you won't."
"What are you doing?" I asked breathlessly, my heart pounding as our eyes remain locked for the longest they have ever been.
He dropped his hand down, and grazed my cheek with the tips of his nails, "I-I don't know." He whispered, his eyes still never leaving mine. And I feel like we would have stayed like this longer too if it wasn't for the ship shaking, and the alarm going off.
Anakin was quick to maneuver himself away from me and he was out of the room before I could comprehend anything that happened.
"What the fu-"
