The Queen
✦
(Y/n)'s POV
The dark water surrounded me and I felt myself drifting down to the bottom—if there was one—it felt endless, like I had been sinking for hours. Never once did I fight it, and just listened to all of their muffled voices whispering in my mind, blaming me for everything.
Eventually I even began to hear Master Ti, and she too blamed me for her death, "Reckless child, if it wasn't for you I would still be alive." She would say it over and over. Although her words altered each time, everything she would say meant the same thing; that it's my fault.
'I'm sorry,' I responded to her in my head each time, only to be met with all of them laughing at me. All I wanted was for this nightmare to end, but this aching feeling in my chest was telling me that it never would.
I was crying, but my tears remained invisible as they mixed with the water. I even tried inhaling the water, hoping it'd put my body into shock and I could die peacefully. But I couldn't, all I kept getting was the sensation of drowning, but I just never died.
I closed my eyes since the darkness was too much for me to handle, and I leaned my head back as I accepted my fate. But moments later, I felt a grip on my wrist and I shot my eyes back open in surprise.
The second I opened my eyes, I was no longer in the water. I was on a beach that was filled with light, but I couldn't see the sun. I sat up, and saw the ocean in front of me as the waves crashed against the sand, "What-"
"You're okay," Anakin appeared in front of me, before he bent down so we were eye level. His eyes were the usual color, not the red or yellow color I saw earlier, just his calming ocean blue. This actually felt like him too, unlike the other look-alikes, so I didn't feel afraid this time.
"Did you—did you pull me from the water?" I asked, my teeth chattering as I shook from the cold breeze that enveloped my skin in goosebumps. I was completely soaked and despite there being light, it didn't feel warm here, like this place—whatever it was—was incapable of warmth.
He nodded as he raised his gloved hand and moved my wet hair from my face, "Of course I did. Did you think I would ever leave you behind?"
Slowly I nodded with tears swelling in my eyes, this whole thing was too much for me, "I wouldn't blame you if you did," I whispered.
"Never," The hand he used to brush my hair, cupped my cheek, "I'm right here," When he said those words, they echoed all around me, like his voice came from the sky above instead of him, "I'll always be right here."
"Thank you," I said with a tear streaming down my cheek.
He nodded before sitting down in the sand next to me and wrapped his arm around me to hold me to him, "I'll never let anything happen to you, you know that right?" He assured me in a soft tone as I tilted my head to the side and rested it on his chest.
I closed my eyes and breathed a sigh of content—I have never felt more safe than I do right now in his arms, and I believed every word he began to mumble in my ear. Words of assurances that everything I just saw wasn't real and that nothing was my fault.
Anakin's POV
For the second time, I walked into the medical room with (y/n) in my arms, before gently laying her in the bed, "This time, no one take their eyes off of her." I know what was in her is now gone, but who knows the effect it had on her, she was under longer than Ahsoka was, "She better be here when I get back." I spun around to head back out the door.
There was still a temple filled with Padawans and younglings that were under the same 'spell' as (y/n) and Ahsoka, and I needed to help them before the other Jedi started to think like Windu and choose slaughter as the answer. That's one of the things I hate the most about the order, the lack of caring, compassion, and emotions in general — might as well be back on Tatooine.
And let's not forget the thing that is actually doing all of this is still here, somewhere..
"Is she okay?" Ahsoka asked with concern and I heard her bed sheets move.
I raised my hand on instinct and used the force to keep her in the bed, knowing she was trying to get up, "Not only does she need time to rest, but you do as well. So don't even think about getting up." I released my hold before turning to look at her over my shoulder, "And do you think I would leave this room if she wasn't?" I asked in a softer tone when I realized my first one was a little hostile.
She took a moment to answer, then she shook her head, "No I guess not. But what about the-"
"I took it out," I said, diverting my gaze to the doctor so she knows not to go into my Padawans neck with those damn pliers, "I'll return soon, and don't open this door for anyone except for me and Obi-Wan."
"What about-" Aayla began but I immediately cut her off.
"Me or Obi-Wan," I repeated for sternly, shifting my gaze between all of them, even (y/n) where my eyes lingered longer than the rest, "I trust no one else to come into this room...I'll be back soon." I faced forward and walked the rest of the way out of the room, before closing the door behind me and using the force to lock it.
Finally, while leaving Mace unconscious on the floor, I made my way down the hall in search of everyone else, especially Obi-Wan, with Lola leading the way.
(TW: Death)
After a few minutes of running, I arrived at the place where the Padawans once were, to find it nearly empty. And I say nearly because there were about six here, dead. Three of them were Masters, while the other three were their Padawans. I've seen them together before so that's how I knew of their relationship together.
(TW: Description of injuries, blood mentioned)
I bent down and inspected their condition so I can get an idea on how they died. And from what I could tell, the Masters looked like they were brutally attacked. They had scratch marks, bruises, black eyes, and blood was on their clothes from multiple wounds on their bodies. The Padawans appeared to have some scratches as well, but what caught my attention the most was the blood leaking from the Padawans ears, eyes, nose, and the hole on their necks.
I knitted my brows in confusion, the Masters looked like they were murdered while the Padawans looked like they just dropped dead—that's when it hit me.
They killed their Masters, just as (y/n) was trying to kill me, and also Devin, Mace claimed he tried to kill him. It's clear the Padawans are attacking their Masters, just as these ones did. The only difference is that these succeeded and l it seems the thing in their neck killed them from the inside once they served their purpose.
This truly is a plan by the separatists to eradicate the Jedi by turning our own against us. It's a smart plan, I'll give the them that, but they're going to fail because I will be making sure they do.
I stood up with a sigh and turned away from the bodies, praying I wouldn't find more. Lola buzzed next to my face and let off a few beeps, "I know," I told her, "We'll give them a proper burial when this is over, but for now, let's find Obi-Wan." It was starting to make me nervous that I haven't seen him in some time. I'm hoping that he's okay, or those separatists are going to deeply regret all of this.
I already plan to make my own move on the chess board after this, but if anything has happened to Obi-Wan, I'll be using the Queen.
I quickly followed Lola and turned a corner, but paused when I noticed that she abruptly stopped and refused to go further. She moved backwards slowly before pausing just when she got behind me.
"What is it Lola?" I asked as I peered into the darkness ahead. The emergency lights didn't seem to be working either since I couldn't see a single thing, so instead, I listened.
At first I didn't hear much and I was starting to think that the droid was simply afraid of the dark, but then I heard one of the most disturbing sounds. It was heavy and made a noise that resembled a pound of wet flesh hitting against the floor. And what was more disturbing was that the sound was getting closer. Soon, it was followed by a high pitched shriek that reminded me of what a Gundark would sound like if their roars had less bass to it.
I took a step back when it shrieked a second time and I placed my hand on the hilt of my lightsaber, preparing myself for a fight. Then, my eyes widened when it came into view, crawling in my direction with what looked like hands with long claws, slamming into the floor with every move forward. It kept its 'head' down and it had the body structure of a person, but didn't look like a person at all.
It didn't even look like it had skin, it just looked like flesh, walking—or I guess. I should say crawling—flesh.
Whatever this was, was far from anything I have ever seen and I'll admit that for once, fear struck my heart.
The creature stopped about eight feet away from me and lifted its head. And my eyes widened even more when I saw that it didn't have a face, only what I assumed to be a mouth that was circular in shape, "What the fuck are you?" I said in a whisper as I unclipped my lightsaber from the belt and ignited it.
It made that deafening shriek once again that filled the hall as it slowly stood up straight, reaching about seven feet in height. Then what it did next creeped me out to my core — from its mouth, came slithering out the exact thing that was in (y/n) and Ashoka's neck. It dropped to the floor and came straight for me, and it was fast too, taking me by surprise, but I swiped my lightsaber in-front of me when it jumped, and cut it in half.
That must be how it got everyone else..
Once I had cut the slug like creature in half, the inhibitor shrieked for a third time, except this one was much louder, and as soon as it was done—it charged in my direction.
