Let Me Go
✦
Vader's POV
It's been days since Leia left with that Han. I haven't received any updates other than day two when she sent me a lengthy message about wanting to cut his tongue out. So much anger and impatience in such a small person, reminds me a lot of... (Y/n).
Each time I hear her name, even if it's in my own mind, it's painful. It's not as crippling as it used to be, I've learned to live and endure, but still — not a day goes by where I don't miss her.
I sighed and closed my eyes, attempting to get some sleep. I began to count stars and planets and really anything I could think of to help me, when I was instantly attacked by a blinding headache. I kept my eyes closed and massaged my temples for comfort. Flashes of images appeared in my mind, they were very brief and all I could really make out was the color lavender, then myself picking something up from what looked to be a bathroom floor. Moments later I saw a sink breaking from a brute force and just as quickly as this all came to me, it went away.
(For anyone confused, the timeline is being messed with to an extreme so things that weren't supposed to happen, have happened which have created 'new' memories. If that makes sense.)
I took a deep breathe and sighed with relief, but my small moment of peace was interrupted when I felt something, something I haven't felt in a long time. I snapped my eyes open and shot up from my bed, my heart pounding against my chest, impossible.
I raised my com to my lips, "In here, now." I demanded, still reeling from my sudden shock.
Admiral Piett ran into the room with lightning speed. "Yes my Lord, what do you need?"
My breathing intensified, I searched my mind to find a reason on how this was possible. Nothing, nothing made sense. I felt like I had been silent for far too long, enough to cause my Admiral to question me once more, "Ship, I need my ship ready now." I had to see for myself.
He nodded, "How many troops—"
"None," I threw my blanket off of me, "I'm going alone."
(Y/n)'s POV
Beep. Beep. Beep.
My eyes slowly fluttered open, a constant beeping being the culprit of interrupting my sleep.
Sleep?
No, I wasn't sleeping. I was at the ball. I was in the bathroom and then someone... where am I?
I groaned as I slowly started to move my aching body, my arms and legs feeling like jello. A stabbing pain in my side, it felt like something was broken. That's when it all hit me, memories of my encounter in the bathroom flashing in my mind. The figure, his voice, his horrifying face, me slamming into the glass, my skin cutting, my vision blurring.
"Such a determined mind. I had expected you to stay under longer," That voice spoke from somewhere in the room. I looked around, but my vision was still blurred — only slowly adjusting, "But I guess that's what I should expect from the wife of someone so... determined, I suppose."
Wife?
I rolled from my side and onto my stomach. I used my hands to push myself up. That's when I noticed I had force restrained cuffs on my wrists, "You have the wrong person, I'm not a wife. I'm a Jedi." Hoarse is what my voice was, strained and cracked.
"Oh no, I have the right person," Footsteps inched closer to me from behind. Finally I was able to see enough to notice I was on a ship. This was the cockpit, I saw stars in the darkness out of the dash window. Surrounding us were also rocks, large ones, small ones, and medium ones. Red, black, and orange in color, "A face like yours is difficult to mix up, especially when it's plastered all over Coruscant."
"I'm telling you. You have the wrong person," I felt nauseous, vomit slithered up my throat until I swallowed it back down, "I can't be a wife."
"Do not throw up in here. I'll make you lick my floors clean," He threatened. He grabbed ahold of my shoulders and picked me up from the floor with ease. He dragged me towards the window, slamming the side of my face against it, "You see those rocks, and the ash around us." He seethed while I groaned in my pain.
I could hardly see from the angle I was in, but I knew what he was talking about, "Yes." I choked out, trying to push myself off the glass with no luck.
"It was my home, and now it's nothing." He threw me to the floor and I landed so hard the cuffs on me broke, "Dathomir was a beautiful place."
Hardly close to being beautiful, "What does any of this have to do with me?" I met his gaze for the first time.
"It is what you created that did it, your little devil of a daughter has been trigger happy, blowing up any planet that doesn't bend to her will. She did it to spite me."
I looked at him like he was insane, "Now I know you have the wrong person. I don't have a daughter." And I never will. It's not even the Jedi Order that holds me back there, I simply have never had the desire to have children.
"Yet." He looked at my stomach with disgust, "But I don't know if killing you is the best move, I don't know what I would change. I don't know if I would create something far worse, it is impossible to know."
"What the fuck are you saying?" He didn't make any sense to me. The only explanation I could come up with is that this man, or thing was mentally ill. Or just plain delusional.
He laughed briefly, "You wouldn't understand and I don't think it is wise to explain. You're so innocent in this, you haven't and won't do anything wrong. So I apologize that you might be paying for another's crimes, but desperate times call for desperate measures."
I slowly sat up and tried to keep the broken cuffs hidden. I can get out of here, I just need to be smart about it. He's strong, he's shown me that, so I doubt attacking him now would be labeled as smart. No, it'd be foolish. I looked around the room, searching for anything that could aid me in an escape. I had no luck except for a radio that I could use to reach the temple or even Anakin, but how would I get to it without getting my hair ripped out? Or my tongue.
"Please, can you take me home. I'm telling you that I am not who you are looking for." I pleaded.
"You are so far from home," He laughed, "Even if you escaped now or got to the com like you're thinking about, you won't reach anyone you're looking for, trust me—" He paused when the radio in his ship turned on and static filled the room. He side-eyed it, waiting for a voice that never came, "Show me your wrists." He demanded, snapping his gaze back to me.
I didn't oblige. He walked over to me and aggressively pulled my hands and wrists into view. I complained at the sharp pain, pulling my arms out of his rough grip.
His eyes burned red, "How could I have not noticed?"
Immediately the ship shook, nearly knocking my captor to his feet. I took this opportunity of him having his guard down from me to use my ability to throw him across the room. It somewhat worked, he flew, just not as far as I had hoped for.
I scrambled to my feet and ran for the dashboard that had a million buttons. I pressed the one that brought us into emergency mode, shutting off all the lights and only giving us a red glow, "Shit," In my defense, I thought it was the button to speak on the communication system. I usually know my ships well, but this one had everything in different places. It had to have been a new model that I was not familiar with.
"Get away from there you stupid girl," My airways were cut, I dropped to my knees.
A heavy slam came from outside of the ship and the light from the stars were dimmed. A black shadow blanketed over the the window, the culprit that cut our small source of light. The hold on my neck was gone, and I gasped for air as I stared up at the figure out in space, facing our direction. I didn't recognize it, him.. her? It was a suit, completely black and a helmet to match... it looked menacing. I wasn't sure if I should be grateful for a rescue, or be afraid that it's someone or something worse.
My captor behind me was on his knees as I was, unable to breathe. He didn't look afraid though, only anger was in his eyes as he glared at the one through the window, "You," He choked, "Can't stay,"...."Out there," .... "for long."
"Then I suppose," A robotic voice came out of the communication system, "I should come inside." He punched the window with his fist that wasn't being used to grip my captors throat.
"And," .... "Kill her?" He laughed, or at least I think it was a laugh, "Again."
I heard a crack and jumped when the dead body of my captor fell to the floor. I got up as quickly as I could and ran to the dash to figure out how to fly this thing away, I needed to get home, I had to get home. Anakin.. he must terrified and I have no idea if this thing out there was here to help me or kill me too. I didn't want to take the risk of being collateral damage.
"(Y/n)." My name came through in that same raspy, inhuman voice, "Is that you?" I paused and looked up. The helmet was hiding the features of them, but I felt it, their eyes were locked on mine.
"How do you know my name?" I asked in a whisper, what the hell is going on here?
"Are you real?" Great. Just like the other one, this person is in insane too. I looked back down and undid my damage by taking the ship off of its emergency setting. Then I reached for a lever that I was hoping would get this hunk of metal moving, but I couldn't pull it, my hand was being held in place by it, "Don't."
I swallowed nervously, "You killed him so easily. He was powerful, I could feel it. Yet you killed him with the snap of a finger." My power is a fraction of what my captor had so I know that I don't stand a chance, "I don't want the same fate, I just want to go home."
It shook their head and very briefly, placed their gloved hand on the glass, "Let me in."
I shook my head as well, "Let me go. I have no part in whatever this was."
"I won't hurt you."
I tried to fight his hold on me to put the ship in motion, but I failed... miserably, "I don't know you, so why should I believe you?"
He slightly closed his fist, "I'm sorry. But this suit isn't equipped to be out here for much longer and you are being incredibly difficult." Instantly, I was shoved back against the far wall. I hit against it forcefully and fell to the ground. When I looked up, the figure was gone. Was it even real? I took a glance at my dead captor to remind myself I wasn't going insane and that everything happening was in fact real.
I pushed myself up from the floor with a groan and stumbled forward to get back to the dashboard. As soon as I reached it though, I heard the sound of a door opening behind me and robotic breathing filled the room.
I slowly turned around to face it. I felt powerless in its presence, I knew in my heart that anything I did to defend myself would be like a mosquito bite to him. An inconvenience, but not a real threat.
The black shadow walked towards me with slow strides, I stood there frozen in fear. Then, to my surprise, he reached up and brushed my cheek with the back of his gloved fingers, "How?"
