I Can't Catch a Fucking Break

(Y/n)'s POV
This place, I remember it. I was back on the planet known as Batuu.

I wasn't in the secluded area where I was found, but a town. Dozens of people walking around me, chatting with each other about their lives, jobs, and children. Kids laughed as they ran by, stopping at a stand where they received a few drink; some blue, some green.

"We need to go," A voice whispered in my ear. A hand covered in leather gripped my wrist and pulled me away from civilization.

As they led me away, the citizens all stopped and stared, watching us leave — their eyes transfigured into fire. I looked ahead at the one holding onto me with a grip so tight I felt my hand going numb, "You're hurting me." I tried to pry myself free, I was unsuccessful. Their hold only tightened and it was so painful I wanted to scream, "Let go!"

They turned around to look at me with the same eyes every citizen behind us held, a color resembling burning flames.

"Anakin?" I gasped, my heart dropping into my stomach. His eyes weren't the beautiful shade of blue i had fallen in love with.

He shook his head, "Anakin is dead." He grabbed ahold of my neck and choked, "I am what remains." I felt my life draining from me as I watched my soul, white and pure, leave from my mouth and go into him.

I woke up screaming.

"Hey hey hey," Ahsoka rushed to my side and wiping the sweat soaked hair out of my face, "Calm down it's okay, it was only a dream."

I took a minute to catch my breath before meeting her worried gaze, "I'm sorry," I looked down and swallowed, "I'm okay, I'm fine." I tried to convince us both, my heart was still racing and for some reason, even after knowing it was all a dream, I felt afraid. That wasn't Anakin, yet it looked so much like him.

"Are you sure?" She gave me space but remained bent towards the floor to keep us eye level.

I nodded, "Yes, it was only a dream." I looked ahead at the hyperspace lights, "Are we almost there?" I was still shaken, my chest tightened in pain and I felt like I could hardly breathe. But I calmed myself with slow and steady breaths.

She eyed me with concern, "Yes we're only a couple minutes out. (Y/n) are you sure you're—"

"I'm fine Ahsoka," I snapped, though I didn't mean to, "I'm sorry," I sighed as I stood up from the floor, kicking away the blankets I used as a bed until they were up against the wall and out of the walk-way, "I need a minute." I stepped away and left the cockpit.

Once I had gotten into the bathroom, I closed the door with a heavy exhale and pressed my forehead against the cold door. My dreams have rarely not meant something. But this...what I saw, it can't be nothing more than an irrational fear my mind has made up. Anakin would never fall to temptation, he's good. He's loyal. He's caring. He's loving.

I faced the sink and turned on the water. I cupped as much as my hands could hold before throwing the cold water onto my face. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I jumped back, slamming my back into the door with enough force to knock the wind out of me.

But then it was gone, the face of the imposter that I saw in my dream had been standing right behind me seconds ago.

I'm losing it.

A knock on the door startled me, "We're here."

Anakin's POV
"It's not my fault, it's yours for not paying attention. Aren't you supposed to be her mentor or something?" Luke crossed his arms as he eyed me up and down with pure disgust. He claimed to have seen them leave so why on Coruscant would he not stop them.

I held his still broken lightsaber in my hand, "How about instead of fixing this, I shove it up your ass."

"Buy me dinner first." He smirked.

"Enough," Obi-Wan stood between us, "It is none of our faults. Clearly, it's the girls for making such a reckless decision." He rubbed his temples with a heavy sigh, "I will go inform the council and then—"

"No," Luke and I said at the same time, startling my old mentor.

"We are going to go after them and not tell the council a damn thing." I set Luke's lightsaber down on the workbench. This will have to wait until after I return.

Obi-Wan looked reluctant as he shifted his gaze between Luke and I, "You can stay," Luke spoke, "If the council asks any questions, tell them we're off on a training exercise." He shrugged.

Obi-Wan raised a brow, "And if they ask why I didn't attend a training excercise that my padawan is apart of?"

Luke got close to him and smacked the back of his hand against Obi-Wans forehead causing him to blink in surprise, "You're looking a little sick Master Kenobi, and this obvious fever is no joke. Perhaps you should be in bed. Don't you think so Anakin?"

I nodded, a smile spreading across my lips, "You're so pale, I thought you were dead."

Obi-Wan sighed, "Fine, I'll stay here to cover your butts in case the council gets curious. But all of you better return within twenty-four hours."

"Or?" Luke asked.

"Or," Obi-Wan narrowed his eyes at him in a way I thought was reserved for me and my smart mouth, "I send my battalion and the 501st after you and I will have no choice but to tell the council."

"I'll be back in twelve—"

"Shush," Luke made me his next victim by slapping my mouth to keep my from finishing my sentence, "Twenty-four it is, starting from the moment our ship leaves the dock."

"Deal."

🤍

"If you ever slap me again—"

"You deserved it," He scolded me, cutting me off, "We were given twenty-four hours and you wanted to cut it in half, for what?" He faced me as the ramp leading us into the ship closed behind me, "To prove something? You're Anakin Skywalker, you have nothing to prove. So quit allowing your pride to get in the way of your decisions."

I was stunned. I had nothing to say back because as much as I hated to admit it, he had a point.

"Now, since you were too busy being an asshole to me earlier, I didn't have a chance to give you this," He tossed something at me and I caught it, it was a tracking beacon, "I wasn't able to get to them in time to actually stop them, but I was able to throw a tracker onto the exterior of the ship."

I looked up from the beacon to meet his gaze, "I underestimated you and for that I'm sorry."

He looked surprised and stumbled over his next words, "It's—it's fine."

"And I know I can be a little much, but look at things from my perspective Luke. I have a hard time trusting anyone, let alone a stranger that showed up one day out of blue."

He looked down for a moment, "I do see it from your perspective." He looked up, "But I don't mean any harm. I asked to work with you because I've heard so many things about you and I wanted to see it all for myself."

I crossed my arms with a hum, slightly flattered, "You seem more interested in my padawan than me. I know she's pretty but—"

"She's nice to me, you haven't been." He said simply, "That's all. There's no crush like you assume."

"Good," I walked past him to the console to get us ready for take off, "Then I suppose we can try to start over. As long as you keep your attitude in check."

"I'll keep mine in check if you do the same."

I furrowed my brows, "I don't have an attitude." I said, with attitude, "Okay fine. Sit and buckle up, we're about to take off." And find that damn padawan of mine.

(Y/n)'s POV
We stepped off of the ship and breathed in the fresh air of Felucia, "I've always loved the smell here, this planet is nothing but a giant garden." Ahsoka reached for a flower and I had to smack her hand to keep her from touching it.

"A giant garden filled with many toxic plants, that one included." It wouldn't have killed her, but it would have given her a long-lasting and very uncomfortable rash.

She breathed an embarrassed laugh, "Good thing I didn't come alone."

"So what's the game plan?" I asked, eyeing our surroundings.

She stepped in front of me with a sheepish grin, "I don't have one."

"Ahsoka," I scolded, "Why would you come here and drag me here without any kind of plan?"

She narrowed her eyes, "Don't yell at me. Our friend is missing and this planet is the last place he was seen, so how am I supposed to have a plan based off of the little information I have?"

"Talk to his Master and ask him where exactly Cal was seen right before going missing."

"I did," She stretched out her arms, gesturing to the place we landed, "And this is it."

I sighed as I looked around, "We can start by looking for footprints and maybe hidden caves in the area." I had a bad feeling that this was going to end in failure. We don't even know if he is still on this planet, lord knows I wasn't in the last place I was seen.

We ventured off through the plants and trees, looking around for anything that can tell us what happened to Cal. But after an hour, possibly more, we came up with nothing. Ahsoka looked like she was ready to cry. She took a deep breath, "None of them have been found, I don't know why I was thinking this time could be different," She sat on a log before dropping her head into her hands, "I'm sorry I brought you here for nothing."

I sat next to her and placed my hand on her back for comfort, "Don't apologize for having hope. We've only been at this for an hour, we don't have to stop now."

She lifted her head and looked at the sky, "Do you hear that?"

"Hear what?" I looked up. For a moment I thought she was suffering from heat exhaustion and having some kind of hallucination. Then it came into view, a ship flew into view and hovered over us, "Shit," I mumbled, assuming it was Anakin and Obi-Wan coming to drag us back home.

"We're going to be in a lot of trouble," Ahsoka groaned, coming to the same conclusion I did.

We both watched the ship, waiting for it to make its landing. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. A net fell from above and before we realized what was happening, it had enveloped us both and pulled us up.

I reached for my lightsaber, ready to cut the net, but it raised us up so fast we both got whip lash and cracked our necks, "No!" I yelled when I lost the hold I had on my lightsaber and watched it plummet over a hundred feet to the ground.

Darkness surrounded us when the floor below us closed, sealing us on this random ship, "These ones are pretty," Was the last thing I heard before I felt a painful shock on my neck. I screamed, then fell into unconsciousness.

I can't catch a fucking break.
