Anakin is Gone
✦
(Y/n)'s POV
I gazed at Anakin, a pressing question swirling in my mind, though I felt a flutter of nerves about asking it. He slowly opened his eyes and turned his head to meet my eager stare. "Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked, a smile breaking across his face as he shifted in bed to face me.
I should have brought this up earlier, maybe even weeks ago, but my mind had been too tangled in chaos to think straight. "Was that—" My voice wavered, and I quickly cleared my throat. "That was your first time, right?" I struggled to recall if we had discussed this before; it seemed unlikely. It felt like something I would have remembered.
"Of course it was. I hadn't even kissed anyone before I met you," he chuckled, placing his hand on my hip and tracing gentle circles with his thumb. I remembered him saying he hadn't kissed anyone, but to be fair, kissing wasn't a requirement for sleeping together.
I narrowed my eyes playfully. "No need to remind me that your first kiss was with the Queen of Zygerria."
"And yours was with Devon, wasn't it?" he shot back, narrowing his eyes in mock seriousness. "If I recall, you nearly slept with him. At least I remain clean in that department."
I rolled my eyes and sighed dramatically. "I did not nearly sleep with him. He wanted to, but I said no."
He huffed, closing his eyes again. "He's lucky I don't kill him."
I let out a soft laugh, prompting him to open his eyes once more. "You're adorable when you're jealous."
He quickly pulled me onto him, positioning me so that I straddled him. His hands roamed over my hips and thighs, a gentle yet possessive touch. "I'm not jealous," he murmured, his voice low and steady, "you're in my bed."
A soft laugh escaped my lips as I bent closer, my face hovering near his. My fingertips brushed against his lips, a delicate caress that made time seem to stand still. It felt surreal, this moment we shared—two souls entwined, in love and bound by engagement. As a Jedi, such attachments were meant to be forgotten, and yet here I was, caught in a dream I never believed I would experience.
"Are you really considering another round, Skywalker?" I teased, arching an eyebrow as I shifted my hips ever so slightly, a playful challenge hanging in the air.
His hands glided up my thighs, settling at my hips. "Oh, it's tempting, incredibly tempting," he replied, his gaze sweeping over me with a mix of desire and mischief. "But we have an early meeting with Master Windu, so we should probably get some rest." The way he rolled his eyes at the mention of Windu revealed his clear annoyance.
"Your loss," I laughed softly, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips before slipping away from him.
In an instant, he pulled me back, wrapping his arms around me and planting a tender kiss on the top of my head. "I love you," he murmured, his voice a warm whisper as he held me a fraction tighter.
I melted into his embrace, my heart racing against my chest. "I love you even more."
"Impossible."
Luke's POV
The night had deepened by the time I returned to the temple, my footsteps echoing softly as I navigated the familiar corridors toward my room, which lay just a few doors down from Master Yoda's. A yawn escaped me, showing just how exhausted I was.
Leia's presence here was a bitter surprise, a thought that gnawed at my mind. How could she believe she could offer help after the devastation she had caused? How does she think she would handle looking into the eyes of everyone she's killed. I know it was her who had activated the Death Star, the very weapon that had obliterated just about everyone I have ever loved. It wasn't hard for me to figure out, I just didn't have the heart to tell Cal. He would have died running after her to avenge his wife and child.
My love for my sister was permanent, a bond that not even time could sever. But, love alone does not erase the scars made by her betrayal. Forgiveness felt like a distant dream, one that had slipped through my fingers a long time ago.
As I rounded the corner, a heavy sigh escaped my lips. "You're out late. Care to explain where you were?"
The voice halted me in my tracks, and I looked up to meet the gaze of Ahsoka, who stood firmly in my path. Her arms were crossed over her chest, a familiar stance that brought back memories of her reprimands from my childhood. "Just getting some fresh air," I replied, the words slipping out as a half-truth.
"Fresh air for three hours?" she questioned, tilting her head slightly, her skepticism deepening.
I raised an eyebrow in response. "So, you've taken to watching my every move now?"
"Perhaps," she murmured, taking a deliberate step toward me, "there was something you mentioned on the island that got me thinking."
My pulse quickened, a familiar tension coiling in my chest. She had always been clever, too clever for her own good. I couldn't shake the feeling that she might be on the verge of uncovering everything. "What do you mean?" I asked, feigning ignorance even as anxiety gnawed at me.
"You," she said, her finger extending to point directly at me as she closed the distance, her touch lingering against my shirt, "Told Anakin and I to return to (y/n) and Cal, yet I don't remember ever mentioning that they were together or that we had even found him."
Shit.
"So my question is; how did you know?"
I gave a nonchalant shrug. "You must have brought it up at some point; it's just slipped your mind."
She dismissed the idea with a shake of her head. "That might work with Anakin, since he's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but it won't work with me."
Ahsoka, seriously, I don't understand what you're getting at here," I found myself weaving a web of deception, with little choice in the matter. "You must have brought it up at some point; otherwise, how would I have known?" I attempted to chuckle lightly, hoping to brush past her, but she blocked my path once again.
"There's something not quite right about you," she said, her eyes narrowing as she scrutinized me. "I thought Anakin was just being Anakin when he mentioned the same thing, but unlike him, I'm determined to uncover the truth." With that, she brushed past me, her shoulder colliding with mine.
I lingered in the hallway long after she had departed, my fists clenched tightly at my sides. Now I have two women I need to keep an eye out for—just fantastic.

Vader's POV
TW: There's a lot of death here and it's very brutal. This is my reminder to you all that even though Vader has his daughter and a soft spot for his children, he's still broken and evil as hell and should definitely be feared by...well everyone.
He's cold, and he's mean.
As I exited my ship, the weight of the villagers' fearful gazes pressed down on me. Their expressions were a mix of dread and disbelief, a dozen pairs of eyes wide with horror.
"I assure you, he's here," a soldier spoke to me, his voice steady despite the tension in the air. "I saw him myself before he disappeared."
"If you see him again, leave him to me," I took a moment to absorb the scene before me, the quaint village now feeling like a cage. Closing my eyes, I inhaled deeply, allowing the atmosphere to surround me. Cal Kestis was near; I could sense his presence lingering in the air. With renewed determination, I opened my eyes and called out, "Kestis! Come out. We can end this now, and spare the innocent any further pain." He was the last remnant of my past, a past I longed to erase.
I stood there, waiting for him to come out, but the silence stretched on. He remained hidden within the shadows of one of the homes, a coward unwilling to face the inevitable.
I advanced with a chilling calmness, extending my hand toward a man lingering by the open window. With a swift motion, I seized him by the throat, my grip tightening as I yanked him from his perch, lifting him off the ground. He struggled, gasping for breath, his life slipping away as he dangled helplessly before me.
Still no sign of Kestis.
Pity.
In a frantic bid to save his father, a young boy burst forth, his eyes wide with terror. But before he could reach the man, I crushed the father's neck with brutal force, letting his lifeless body fall to the ground. With a flick of my wrist, I hurled the boy against the wall, the sickening crack of bone echoing in the air as I ended his life with a snap of his neck. "What kind of Jedi stands by while the innocent die?" My voice, cold and metallic, reverberated through the desolate village, knowing he must have heard my taunt. "What kind of Jedi allows children to die?"
I seized a woman next, dragging her along as her screams pierced the silence, the rough ground tearing at her skin.
"It's no wonder your wife and child are dead," I spat, pulling her closer before I hurled her against the wall. The sound of her skull shattering was the final note in this grim symphony, her life gone in an instant.
The moment I felt his presence looming just behind me, I turned sharply, extending my hand in a defensive gesture. The energy surged forth, halting the blade inches from me. "Need I remind you that your wife is dead too?" Cal sneered, his eyes ablaze with fury and bitterness.
A smile crept across my face, hidden beneath the visor of my helmet. "There you are." With a flick of my wrist, I redirected his lightsaber, sending it slicing through the air to my right.
He attacked with a flurry of strikes, but I maneuvered away from each one with ease, sidestepping his furious strikes. His frustration grew, while my grin only widened. "You've destroyed everything."
Just as his weapon threatened to make contact with my helmet, I unleashed a force push, sending him staggering backward. A laugh bubbled up from within me. "You're not very wise, are you? I didn't destroy anything; that was Kenobi's doing."
"Obi-Wan didn't murder my entire family!" he shouted, his voice raw with emotion. "And Obi-Wan didn't kill (y/n)!"
"So misinformed." I said, my voice calm compared to his untamed one, "The blade that pierced through her was meant for him. He knew that, yet he allowed her to die in his place."
"He didn't allow anything," he insisted, striving to reach me, though his attempts fell flat. "She gave her life to protect him; it was her decision! You're too consumed by your sorrow to recognize the truth, Anakin."
"It's over, Anakin. You have lost." We stood on a ledge just beyond the separatist base, the remnants of our fierce duel still crackling in the air around us. Both of us were battered and breathless, dangling on the edge of exhaustion. I was unarmed, and he held his weapon in my direction, its menacing glow reflecting the desperation in his eyes, silently pleading for my surrender, "Please, just come back to us. We can figure it out, whatever did this to you, I swear we can figure it all out. Your children need you, (y/n) needs you, I need you."
The meaning of his words eluded me entirely, slipping through my mind like water through fingers; I barely caught a single sound.
My gaze flickered to the lightsaber lying just behind Obi-Wan, a mere few feet away. "You underestimate me, Master." With a swift motion, I summoned it to my hand, igniting the blade with a wicked grin that danced across my face.
"Anakin, don't!"
Her voice sliced through the tension in the air, and in that instant, I saw the woman I cherished crumple to the ground. A choked gasp escaped her lips as the blade, meant for him, found its mark in her instead.
I quickly shoved her memory from my mind, burying it deep down. He was only trying to distract me.
"I am not Anakin," I interjected, raising my hand to summon his weapon. I could have done this from the start, but I allowed him his moment of bravado. With a swift motion, I snapped the hilt in half, flinging one half back to him while keeping the other. "Anakin is gone, and soon, you will follow."
