Chapter 8: Origins
L.Jack: Ooh, meeting Blue Light sounds like fun! Maybe we can play some games together. You know, games that may or may not involve him dying.
Benny: Or maybe we could convince him to join us. I mean, he's clearly different from the typical investigators we encounter, they're dead by one encounter with one of us, yet he has survived two encounters with Jeff already.
Jane: I don't know about that, Ben. Bringing him into our world could be risky.
Clockwork: Yeah, I'm with Jane on this one. We can't trust outsiders, especially not someone like Blue Light.
Jeff: We aren't just going to accept him like that, you heard him! He wants to take us all down!
L.Jill: Plus, who's to say Blue Light would even want to join us? He seems pretty set on his own path.
The conversation turns serious as they weigh the pros and cons of involving Blue Light in their world, ultimately deciding to maintain their distance and focus on their own objectives.
It did seen crazy for them to even think about involving the Mysterious Detective into their ranks. But he was a killer himself, he might as well be since they didn't know who he had killed.
Were they good people? Bad people?
Only time will tell as the Feared Killers and Cosmetic Entities aim to discover more about the Sole Human that didn't fear him.
Jeff:...I....I have to admit, after Light got the better of me, Slenderwoman showed up to rescue me. But when she and Blue had a stare-off, he didn't show any signs of fear.
Sally: Slenda? What was she doing there?
Jeff: I have no idea, she probably was watching my fight and came to rescue my ass. But it was intense, he didn't back down, even with her staring him down with all of the static.
Eyeless Jack: That's....unexpected. He does seem fearless.
Jane: Or it could be a facade. He might've been shivering in his boots
Benny: Maybe he's not just a detective. Perhaps there's more to him than we realise.
Jeff: No shit, you elf!
Benny: I'm not an elf! I'm a Hylian!
L.Jack: I like this guy more and more! He's got a steel resolve! And I want to break it!
L.Jill: But what does this mean for us? If he's not afraid of Slenderwoman, what else is he capable of?
Nina: How did Blue Light even manage to stand up to Slenda's gaze? I mean, just looking at her causes headaches for most humans.
Jane: Maybe he's not entirely human.
Sally: Or maybe he has some sort of protection against her powers.
E.Jack: It's possible he's encountered beings like Slenderwoman before and has developed a resistance.
Jeff: No no, he is normal. But...he could've lied to me, maybe he wants to be a deceptive little shit
Benny: Yeah. We need to be more cautious in our approach with him, we're more powerful than him, but we can't act like we are invincible all the time.
L.Jack: Sounds like a challenge! I can't wait to see what else he's capable of. So far, he's only fought Jeff, but what happens when he faces against a menace like me?
L.Jill: Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. We need to be careful, but I doubt that he will trouble either of the Jacks
Clockwork: Jeff, did anything else happen between Blue and Slenda?
Jeff: Yeah, there was something else. The kid asked Slenda if she could sense how many people he'd killed.
Nina: What? That's bold!
Sally: A-Asking Slenda for any request is suicidal! Why did she even comply?
Jane: Probably to amuse him, not to expect much....right?
Jeff:....I don't think so, I saw a shift in her body language, like she was assessing him.
Clockwork: So, what does that mean? How many people has Blue Light killed?
Jeff:...I don't know for sure, but judging by Slenda's reaction, it's safe to say it's a lot.
Benny: That's....chilling. Is that normal?
E.Jack: It adds another layer to his character. Detective Light showed it with what we have seen so far of him.
L.Jack: I can't wait to see what he does next! He's like one of us, but on the other side of the law....a killer! I wish I can see the bodies he racked up!
L.Jill: Let's not forget who we're dealing with. Blue Light may be human, but he is hiding a lot.
Jeff: He said nothing makes him special. Just that he's highly trained and all that basic stuff.
Nina: That's it? He's just highly trained?
Jeff: That's what he claimed. But there's something about him, something that sets him apart.
Sally: Maybe he's just incredibly skilled at what he does? More so than everyone else
E.Jack: Or perhaps he's hiding something. This boy strikes me as someone who keeps his cards close to his chest.
Benny: Whatever it is, we need to be prepared for it. The Detective may downplay his abilities, but he's proven himself to be a formidable adversary. I doubt he will anything to me once we are in my domain, but out here, he is deceptive
Clockwork: Do you think that you will end up taking him to your world?
Benny: Ehh, you never know, if it comes down to it, I'll go for it. I could do whatever I want to do to him: Kill him, Torture him, Fuck hi-!
Jane: Okay, that's enough.
Jeff:.....You know what? I think I'm ready to face Blue Light again. Third time's the charm, right?
Sally: Jeff, are you sure about that? After what happened last time?
Nina: Yeah, maybe it's best to lay low for a while. We don't want to risk another defeat.
Jeff: I can't just back down. I need to prove myself, to show that I'm not easily defeated!
Jane: Even though you are
Jeff: Shut up!
Sally: [Gently] Jeff, it's not about proving yourself to anyone. We know you're strong. But sometimes, discretion is the better part of valor.
E.Jack: The Ghost girl is right. Rushing into another confrontation with this detective might not be the wisest move, you need to plan our next steps carefully. I believe I can kill him, but I won't just attack him out of nowhere.
Benny: Let's take some time to regroup and come up with a solid strategy. We don't really work together, but I think we should if we are all focused on him
Jeff: Agh! But I don't want to work with her!
Jane: Neither do I, but this might be the right thing to do. After all of that, I'll happily come by and kill you
Jeff: Like you could!
Jane: Want to test that now?
Jeff: Yeah bitch! Bring it!
L.Jack: You know what we should do? We should all jump him at once! Catch him off guard!
L.Jill: Yeah! If we all attack him together, he won't stand a chance!
Jane: I don't know, Blue Light seems like the kind of guy who anticipates these kinds of moves. He knew Jeff would target him during their first encounter.
Jeff: He's always been one step ahead of us. We can't underestimate him! As much as I hate to say it.....
E.Jack: It's a risky move. If he expects us to come at him all at once, he'll have a counter-strategy prepared. But once we know what he can do, I feel like I can hill him myself
Clockwork: Maybe we should play it safe for now. Focus on gathering more information about him before making our next move.
Benny: Oh yeah, definitely. We need to be strategic about this. Rushing into things could end up backfiring on us.
The group decides to hold off on the ambush plan for now, opting instead to gather more intel on Blue Light's tactics and weaknesses before making their next move.
______________
Blue's POV
______________
Around three days had passed since the Jeff situation at the Factory. Right now, I was on the roof of the police station, with Norman besides me as we watch the Sun rise.
Why were we in this predicament? I have no idea.
Norman: It's safe to say that Jeff has chosen to lay low.
Blue: Yeah, he doesn't want the smoke with me. I assume he would be scared, but that's a stretch
Norman: He has killed many, I'm annoyed that we couldn't grab a hold of him
Blue: There is always a next time. We've already made decent progress.
Norman: You're right.....
Blue: Norman....just say it already, I know you have some thoughts in your head.
Norman: O-Okay.....Do you remember those days?
Blue:.....All the time
Norman: Care to go into detail?
Blue: [Sighs] Alright, Norman. But remember, it's not normal to hear
Norman: I've heard it before from you, I don't mind hearing it again
Blue: Well, as you know, my Father, he wasn't exactly your average Dad.
Norman: Dante.....[Sighs] What a terrifying man he was.
Blue: Mmm, the leader of a Giant Death Squad....and no one knows about it but me and you
Norman: I don't even know what it was like to be apart of it. Must've been intense
Blue: It was. They were like a shadow organization, operating in the underground of society. They were basically Ghosts to this world.
Norman: And the fact that he got you heavily involved.
Blue: Yeah, he used to bring me along on missions when I was young. Said it was for experience.
Norman: I always said that it was a fucked up way in raising your child
Blue: As if he cared
Norman: All he cared about was the missions, and speaking about them....
Blue: You have no idea. I saw things...things a yute like myself should never have seen
Norman: I can imagine....
Blue: But I wanted out, I wanted a different life.....I wanted to see my Mother again, and I did get that chance when my Father freed me
Norman: And here you are, a private investigator. You've certainly come a long way since those days.
Blue: Yeah, sadly it isn't like that saying "Time Flies Quickly". Because I remember every. Single. Mission.
Norman: It sounds like your Father didn't mind putting you in some dangerous situations at a very young age.
Blue: He sort of did, and did not. One time, I remember he sent me into an enemy base to take out their leader. I was only eight years old.
Norman: Eight years old? I almost forgot how young you were, I assumed you were 12 or 13
Blue: It's more believable. But I didn't have a choice. My father trained me to be ruthless, to survive at any cost. But he also believed in me
Norman: He believed in you? I never heard that from your mouth before
Blue: It's something I don't talk about, Father still isn't perfect
Norman: I can drink to that. Now about that mission you mentioned, did you do it?
Blue: What do you think? That I would refuse to go in, and he would let me? No, I went in, alone, armed with nothing but a knife. I took out the guards, one by one, until I reached the leader.
Norman: I know it's obvious, but I'm intrigued to know what happened.
Blue: Well, as you can guess. I killed him, I'll spare you the details, but let's just say I came out alive and covered in the blood of the Leader, and his subordinates. They had automatic rifles...and I just had a Combat Knife.
Norman: That's....horrifying to think about.
Blue: It was. But it was also my reality for a long time....I've done worse during those years.....that was just an appetizer to my umm....."career".
Norman: I can't even begin to imagine what that must have been like for you. While I have heard all of this from you, I wasn't there to actually see it
Blue: All you would've see was hell.
Norman: It definitely sounded like Hell when you did tell me. But as you always said.....
Blue: It's made me who I am today.
Norman: I.....I would say survivor, but I know that's not your thought process
Blue:....It made me a Warrior....
Norman: A scary one at that. And now you're entering another type of hell with all of this
Blue: Think of it as the sequel, because it will be different, but I'll win
Norman: Haha.....well, Blue, I'm glad you're on our side now. We needed someone with your skills, but for the right reasons.
Blue: Thanks, Norman. I'm doing my best to save our world....even if it's insane as it sounds
Norman: And that's all anyone can ask for. Keep doing what you're doing, Blue. We're lucky to have you.....I mentioned that twice now, didn't I?
Blue: Drink some coffee big man
Norman: In a bit, let's talk a bit more. You have been through a lot, Blue. But I have to ask, how did you cope with all of that at such a young age? I never did ask you this.
Blue: Cause there was no need for it to be talked about, I coped the only way I knew how. By becoming numb to it all.
Norman: Numb?
Blue: Yeah. At first, it was just survival instincts kicking in. But I learnt what made my Father and his group dangerous, they didn't have a grip on emotions, they were like machines
Norman: Like the terminators
Blue: No, they were worse. I learnt that after seeing them in action for years, after a while, I started to....enjoy it.
Norman: Enjoy it?
Blue: Yeah. I know it sounds twisted, but there was something about taking another man's life.....and smiling after. Of course, the smiling stopped and I just had a neutral face....but damn I was happy.
Norman: So that's how you earned the nickname "The Syndicate"?
Blue: Yeah. My Father's men started calling me that after they saw how efficient I was at getting the job done....jobs that required entire squadrons to complete.
Norman: And you didn't feel any remorse for what you were doing?
Blue: Not at the time, I was too focused on the mission. But looking back now, I can see how messed up it all was, especially when I was reunited with my Mother
Norman: You mentioned that Dante freed you from your shackles, do you know why?
Blue: No. After years of completing missions and earning my reputation, he just....released me. He mentioned that he didn't want me to end up like him, yet he said it so casually, like "There, now piss off".
Norman: So he didn't really care?
Blue: It's not clear because I could tell that he saw the toll it was taking on me, the darkness that was consuming me, and he wanted me to find a way out. But I'll never know because I don't even have an idea on his whereabouts.
Norman: And that's when you decided to become a private investigator?
Blue: Hah, nah. He just told me to do it, I listened of course because I wasn't used to this freedom of choice, but this line of work isn't too bad. Screw the paperwork though.
Norman: Amen to that. Alright, it's about time I get that coffee, want to join me?
Blue: I'm more of a Tea person. But I wouldn't mind a milkshake.
______________
3rd POV
______________
As Blue and Norman leave and get something to drink, the focus returns to the Dark as Zalga finishes spying on the Detective.
Zalga: Did you hear that, Brother? Blue Light's past is even darker than we thought.
Zalgo: Interesting....I knew he was hiding something, but I didn't expect this
Sally: I-I didn't think someone as kind as him would've done all of that....
Clockwork: To be involved in such brutality at such a young age... it's disturbing, which is something coming from me
Nurse Ann: It's a testament to his resilience that he's managed to break free from that life. I'm just about knowing about this boy, but I find satisfaction in knowing that he achieved this.
Zalga: But has he truly broken free? Or is he just hiding behind the facade of a private investigator?
Sally: It's hard to say. But one thing's for certain, his past will always be a part of him. But I like that he is free!
Clockwork: Well he should stay on a leash, we should keep an eye on him. He could be a valuable asset to our cause....on a leash of course
Nurse Ann: I agree with you, minus the whole leash thing. But let's not forget, he's also a potential threat.
Zalga: Then we'll just have to wait and see which side he chooses to align with. Will he lose hope in his race?
Zalgo: Indeed. In the meantime, let's continue to observe and gather information. Blue Light may prove to be a key player in the battles to come.
Zalga: You sense a fight, Brother?
Zalgo: I do, this boy hasn't shown fear. What's stopping him from challenging each and every one of us to a fight?
Slenda: Blue's upbringing in the darkness is why he was able to easily best Jeff and make him retreat. He's been through far worse than any of us can imagine.
Sally: Poor Blue. To think he's carrying all that weight on his shoulders...
Clockwork: It makes me wonder what his peak is. If he's capable of such feats now, what could he become with more training and guidance?
Nurse Ann: I believe that he has already reached his peak, especially since he has started from a young age. We can't underestimate him, but we also can't ignore the danger he poses.
Zalga: Agreed. Blue Light may prove to be a formidable opponent if he decides to oppose us.....well, not to me and My Brother. I also expect Slenda to be fine
Slenda: He will not best me at all.
Clockwork: If you're saying that he is a threat to everyone below Slenda, aka myself. Then perhaps it's best if I eliminate him before he becomes a true threat.
Sally: No! We can't just...get rid of him like that. He's been through enough already!
Nurse Ann: Sally's right. We need to tread carefully. We don't want to make an enemy out of someone who could potentially be an ally. Especially when Zalgo has an interest
Zalgo: Sister, Slenda.....continue to monitor Blue Light's actions. If he proves to be a danger, then we'll deal with him accordingly. But for now, let's give him the benefit of the doubt, I want to see more from him.
Zalga: Yes, Brother
