Chapter 11: Special Delivery

(Okay, time to Ball)

Zalgo: Are you questioning my power, Lazari?

Lazari recoiled slightly, taken aback by her father's response.

Lazari: N-No, Father, I would never-!

Zalgo: There is no being in this universe that could defeat me, especially not some arrogant human boy. Blue Light may be persistent, but he is no match for the might of Zalgo.

Lazari: I-I understand, Father. I'm sorry for doubting you.

Zalgo's demeanor softened but only slightly, sensing his Daughter's genuine remorse.

Zalgo: It is imperative that you remember your place, Lazari. As my Daughter, you are an extension of my power, and you are destined for great things, so do not neglect your power. We do not fear mortals like Blue Light. Now, rest assured, I will handle this matter accordingly.

Lazari nodded obediently, though her curiosity remained unabated. Deep down, she couldn't shake off the feeling that Blue Light might prove to be more than just a mere nuisance.

But for now, she would heed her Father's words and trust in his unmatched power.

Zalgo: Blue Light.....what makes you different? What makes you this determined to end conflict that has been going on for Eons? Hahahaha, show me more.....so that when the time comes.....I can crush you

Two days had passed since the party, and Blue found himself back in the office. The atmosphere was quiet, with Norman at his desk going through reports, and Lawson sitting nearby, flipping through some papers.

Blue was leaning back in his chair, feet on the desk, staring out the window when his phone buzzed. The message was from someone named Alistair.

Alistair: It's ready. Want to pick it up now?

Without hesitation, Blue typed back a simple response: "Yes."

He stood up from his chair and stretched, grabbing his trench coat from the back of the seat. The sudden movement caught Norman's attention.

Norman: Where are you headed?

Blue: I'm going to meet up with a friend. He said he had something for me the next time we met. That time happens to be now.

Lawson, who had been half-distracted by his papers, raised an eyebrow.

Lawson: And you didn't meet him before this?

Blue: Didn’t feel like it. He mentioned a while ago that he moved around here about a year ago. Said my package wasn't ready yet, so I assumed there was no rush. But today, it’s ready.

Lawson: Hold on...what the hell are you picking up?

Blue:....You’ll see.

Without further explanation, Blue walked out of the office, leaving Norman and Lawson exchanging curious, bewildered glances. Norman leaned back in his chair, watching the door swing shut.

Norman: What do you think it is?

Lawson: Knowing Blue? Could be anything. And honestly, that kind of scares me.

Norman smirked, but deep down, he had the same uneasy curiosity. Whatever Blue was up to, it was bound to be unexpected.

Blue walked through the dimly lit alley, his steps soundless as he made his way to a hidden shop tucked away from prying eyes. The old, weathered sign above the door gave no indication of the business inside, and there were no customers, only silence.

As he pushed open the heavy door, the subtle creak echoed through the space. It was quiet, almost unnervingly so. Inside, a man in his early 30s stood alone, waiting. His dark eyes gleamed with recognition as Blue stepped inside.

The man had a calm presence about him, but there was something sharp beneath the surface, a quiet intensity.

Blue: Alistair

Alistair: Blue, good to see you again.

Blue: Same here, is it finally ready?

Alistair: Yep, and I’ve tested it more times than I can count. No errors. Flawless performance.

Blue: Good. Show me.

Alistair moved toward a workbench at the back of the shop. A long, heavy box sat on top of the table, covered in dark cloth.

With deliberate movements, Alistair pulled back the cloth and opened the box, revealing the weapon inside, a four-barreled shotgun that looked as menacing as it was elegant.

Alistair: There it is.....The Fourth Horseman

Blue’s eyes lingered on the shotgun, its sheer size and design enough to make it clear that this was no ordinary weapon. The barrels gleamed under the dim light, and the intricate etchings along the side gave the weapon a near-mythical quality.

Blue: Great, how many shells did you prep for me?

Alistair smirked, walking to another part of the table and retrieving a small, heavy crate.

Alistair: Too many. Should last you a long time. And trust me, these shells pack a devious punch.

Blue nodded in approval, running his hand along the cold metal of the shotgun.

Blue: Perfect. It'll be ideal for the stronger entities out there.

Alistair: Is it good enough?

Blue looked up from the weapon, a rare smile crossing his face.

Blue: This is...perfect. Thank you.

Alistair waved a hand dismissively, though there was a flicker of pride in his eyes.

Alistair: Anytime, boy. You're gonna need this bad boy for what's coming. Not that you’d be dead without it, but....it’ll make things easier.

Blue chuckled softly, sliding the shotgun back into its case.

Blue: Yeah, easier is good. For what’s ahead, I’ll take anything I can get.

Alistair’s expression darkened slightly as he glanced at Blue, as if he understood the weight of the battles to come.

Alistair: You’re ready, Blue. Just remember, it’s not just the weapon, it’s how you use it.

Blue: I know. But trust me, Alistair....I’ll use it well.

With a final nod between the two, Blue turned and left the shop, the weight of the Fourth Horseman in hand. The air was cool as he stepped back onto the street underneath the sun.

He felt prepared, more than ever, for the dangers looming ahead. The weight of the Fourth Horseman slung over his shoulder, he decided to take the quieter route back to the office.

It was a path no one ever used, an old, winding trail that cut through a park. The park itself was peaceful, its trees swaying gently in the night breeze. The soft rustling of leaves was the only sound around. It felt like the world had gone still.

He was alone. Or so he thought.

As Blue made his way deeper into the park, he stopped abruptly when he saw a small figure standing in his path. A young girl, her appearance disarmingly innocent, with long brown hair and a simple white dress.

He recognised her immediately from a file he’d seen not too long ago.

Blue: Wait a minute....you.....I've seen you before. In a file.

The girl tilted her head, her voice childlike but carrying an unsettling undertone of experience beyond her years.

Sally: My name is Sally!

Blue: Williams?

Sally nodded but immediately frowned, her expression softening into something sadder.

Sally: Yes, but please don't say my last name. I....don't like it.

Blue: Why? It’s not a bad name despite how basic it sounds.

Sally shuffled her feet, looking down as though embarrassed.

Sally: It's...personal reasons.

Blue: Okay, Sally. So, is there something you need?

Sally's eyes brightened, almost like she’d been waiting for that question.

Sally: I just wanted to meet you!

Blue:....Most of you seem to know who I am already, hm?

Sally: Yep! We’ve been watching you. All of us!

Blue: Great...just what I needed. To be watched constantly

Sally’s enthusiasm faltered for a moment, and she quickly added

Sally: S-Sorry.

Blue: It’s alright. You're not like the rest of them, are you?

Sally: Not really. I only target adults because...

Her voice trailed off as if the weight of her past still haunted her. Blue interrupted gently, his eyes softening.

Blue: As I said, I read your file. You don’t need to explain.

Sally looked up at him, her eyes wide and grateful.

Sally: Thank you.

Blue:....Your birthday is April 5th, right?

Sally: Yes! But...how did you know?

Blue: File. Also, mine is the day before, April 4th.

Sally’s face lit up with a bright smile, her earlier melancholy fading.

Sally: Wow! Really?! That’s so cool!

Blue gave her a rare, small smile, one that barely reached his eyes but was still genuine.

Blue: Very cool

For a moment, they stood in silence, an odd sense of camaraderie forming between them. In another world, another life, maybe things could’ve been different for both of them.

Blue could sense the innocence still lingering in Sally, even after all she'd been through. It was rare in the world he navigated. Sally's bright smile faded just a bit, her voice softening.

Sally: You’re different from the others. You're...kind.

Blue didn’t respond right away, only looking at her with a calm, almost detached expression.

Blue: Kindness isn’t always what it seems. But....I don’t hurt kids. That’s not who I am.

Sally smiled again, this time with a hint of relief.

Sally: I’m glad. I’ll be watching you still, but not in a bad way! I just....like seeing what you do.

Blue: Okay, just don’t try anything funny.

Sally: Promise!

As Blue continued walking through the park, Sally caught up and began walking alongside him, her presence light and childlike, but with an unspoken heaviness beneath the surface.

Sally: Blue, what’s your end goal? Like...why do you do all this?

Blue: Well, to rid the world of true evil, there’s something....someone, watching me. Pulling strings behind the scenes. I’m going to take him down.

Sally: Y-You mean, the Big Boss? The one controlling everything? That’s impossible! Even if you’re strong, he’s different. How are you even going to do that?

Blue didn’t stop walking, didn’t hesitate. His voice was calm, almost unnervingly so.

Blue: It doesn’t matter how impossible it is. It has to be done. He thinks he’s untouchable, but I have a way of getting through things others think are impossible.

Sally looked at him, her small face scrunched with a mixture of confusion and awe.

Sally: You’re really serious, aren’t you?

Blue: Yes I am

Sally: Trying to take down someone like him....it feels like a losing battle. But you seem...calm about it.

Blue: I’ve faced worse odds before. I’ll get through it, like I always tend to do

Sally was quiet for a while after that, processing everything Blue had said. There was something about his calm confidence that made even the most impossible feats feel achievable.

Blue: What about you? What do you want out of all this, Sally?

Sally blinked, taken aback by the question. She thought for a moment, her small hands clasped behind her back as she walked.

Sally: I just....I just want to be happy. I don’t want to hurt anymore. I don’t want to feel all the sadness and anger from before. I just want peace.

Blue: Peace is harder to get than people think.

Sally: Do you have any special abilities? I mean, I’ve heard about what you do, but...are you like the others?

Blue: Nope. No special powers. I’m just someone with a mission. Everything I’ve done has been through training, skill, and sheer willpower.

Sally: That’s....kind of cool, actually. You’re fighting all these powerful things, and you don’t even have powers. You’re just....you.

Blue: Mmm

Sally seemed to think about that for a while, then her expression shifted into something more playful.

Sally: I know about what you did two days ago, with Jane.

Blue: You do? What about it?

Sally giggled, her voice soft and teasing.

Sally: I think Jane might be....interested in you.

Blue blinked, his face completely blank, not catching onto the implication.

Blue: Interested? Does she want to mess with me again?

Sally stopped walking, staring at him in disbelief before breaking into a fit of giggles.

Sally: No, Blue, I don’t think she wants to mess with you. I think she likes you!

Blue continued walking, completely unfazed, missing the point entirely.

Blue:...Nah, she probably just sees me as a target. Jane seems tricky like that.

Sally continued to laugh, skipping after him.

Sally: Wow...you’re really dense, aren’t you?

Blue shot her a sideways glance, still not understanding why she found it so funny.

Blue: What’s that supposed to mean?

Sally: Nothing, nothing at all. But you know, Jane doesn’t show that kind of interest in just anyone.

Blue: Doesn’t matter. If she gets in my way, I’ll deal with her like anyone else.

Sally rolled her eyes, a playful grin on her face.

Sally: Good luck on that!

As they walked together, the day seemed to grow quieter, the park grass stretching long. Blue, unaware of the depth of Jane’s interest or Sally’s amusement, was focused on the path ahead, the quiet before the storm he knew was coming.

And somewhere, in the dark corners of the world, powerful beings watched him with keen interest, waiting for their turn to test the unshakable resolve of this young boy.
