The Lethal Protector

(A/N): So, I just watched Venom Let There Be Carnage recently, and I got to say I'm a bit disappointed. The movie wasn't that bad, but I wish there was more to it than what we got, especially with Carnage.

Normal: We are Venom.

Thoughts: We are Venom.

Venom: We are Venom.

Venom thoughts: We are Venom.

3rd Person POV

....

....

....

???: Wake up.

....

....

....

???: Wake up!

....

....

....

SPLASH!!!

(Y/N): AAAAAHHHH! I'M UP, I'M UP!!!

A young male of seventeen years of age shot up from his bed soaked and a bit cranky due to the sudden wake-up. The male has caucasian skin, black hair, and amber-colored eyes, showcasing his firebender heritage.

This was (Y/N) (L/N), a once disgraced reporter, now an elusive vigilante thanks to his partner/best friend/pain in the ass.

Speaking of, he turned to his partner with an annoyed look on his face.

(Y/N): Was that necessary?!

His said friend was in the form of a black tendril holding pitcher that once held water.

The tendril puts the pitcher on a nearby table and recedes itself back into (Y/N)'s body.

???: Yes, it was. Because in a moment or two, those metal bending pricks will be banging on our door any minute now. We need to move!

(Y/N) sighed and then stood up and stretched.

(Y/N): V, you're overreacting. We've been back in Republic City for a day now, and nothing happened.

Another tendril slithered out of his back and came around to his front. The end of the tendril shifted into a face with a pair of jagged white eyes with no pupils and a soft reflection in them and a mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth.

This was the alien symbiote known as Venom.

Venom: I am not overreacting! May I remind you that this was your idea in the first place?

(Y/N): (annoyed) I know!

He sighed.

(Y/N): (whispered) And here I thought I was the paranoid one.

He then turned to his alien partner.

(Y/N): Look, I know you're worried. We barely got away with all the shit that happened with Drake, Riot, and the Life Foundation. But come on, man, it's been three years already. I'm pretty sure any heat we had on us has all but died down by now.

Venom: And if it hasn't?

(Y/N): (smile) Well, we'll just wing it. I mean, isn't that what we've been doing the last three years?

Venom stared at his host until he sighed in defeat.

Venom: Fine.

The symbiote recedes into his host's body. Said host then goes to the bathroom to freshen up for the day.

Three years have passed since the 'incident' with the Life Foundation, and since then, the two friends have had a double life per se. By day, (Y/N) does what he usually does, go to work (although he is jobless at the moment), send letters to his family back home, and buy food. By night, Venom hunts down crime and eliminates it.... and sometimes eats it.

It hasn't always been easy for the two friends. There were some ups and downs in their friendship. An example is the fight they had at the beginning of their partnership due to some disagreements they both had, which resulted in them separating for a while. They eventually reunited and apologized to each other, which from that day on cemented their friendship.

Once he stepped out of the bathroom, Venom shifted some clothes for his host, which included a black leather jacket over a black shirt, some black pants, and black shoes.

They then left the hotel and then took a stroll throughout the city.

(Y/N) took in the sights, and he couldn't help but have a feeling of nostalgia.

(Y/N): Man, it feels great to be back.

Venom: Remind me again why we've decided to come back after all this time?

(Y/N): Word has been going around about a new movement called the Equalist. These guys have made some accusations that benders are discriminating against non-benders. And from what I've been hearing, they've been gaining a lot of traction over the years.

Venom: Are they wrong, though? Take a look at the Triad groups and what they do to people who can't help themselves. Is it really bad that these people want change?

(Y/N): You got a point V, but rumors have been going around about them giving militia-like training to their followers. Add that to the fact that there were a few missing people back at the Fire Nation.

Venom: Well, I take back what I said. What do you think they're planning?

(Y/N): I don't know, but I'm sure we'll find out soon.

Suddenly, my stomach growled.

(Y/N): But first...

(Y/N)/Venom: Food!

Mini Timeskip

After some trial and error with directions (we've been gone for a while), we finally found our favorite food stand that, even after three years, is still in business.

It was a small stand in a part of the city that was owned and run by an old friend named Stan.

Stan is an elderly man with silver hair with black streaks, a bushy mustache, and a big nose, but he had a smile that would brighten anyone's day.

Stan is one of the few people that know about Venom and I and what we do but luckily for us, he can keep a secret, and he's cool with us.

Speaking of, he comes back with our favorite meal.... everything.

Stan smiled as he put our meal down in front of us.

Stan: It's so good to see you two again.

We smiled as we began to eat our meal.

(Y/N): It's good to see you too, Stan. Honestly, we're surprised that you're still in business.

Venom: Especially at your old age. It must be tough running this stand by yourself.

Stan merely laughed.

Stan: I may be old, but it doesn't mean I'm ready to close down yet, but I will admit some extra help would be appreciated.

(Y/N): We'd be happy to help. We are in need of a job anyway.

Stan chuckled in amusement.

Stan: I'll think about it. So, how have you two been?

(Y/N): We've been alright since we left. We traveled to the Fire Nation and got some long overdue firebending training.

Stan: (laughs) About time. I told you you were going to need it eventually.

I rolled my eyes in amusement as Venom chuckled.

Stan's face then turned serious.

Stan: But... something tells me that you two are not back because you felt homesick.

Our faces then turned serious.

Venom: Perspective as ever, old man.

Stan: That comes with age. Let me guess, you guys heard about the Equalists, have you?

We nodded.

(Y/N): We've been hearing a lot of rumors about them having militia-like training, and a lot of people have gone missing back at the Fire Nation, and all of them were benders. It's definitely not a coincidence.

Stan held his chin in thought.

Venom: What do you think, old man?

Before Stan could say anything else, we heard a commotion to our left.

Stan and I turned to the commotion as Venom receded into my body.

We both saw three Triple Threat Triad members harassing an old couple who owned an antique shop just across Stan's stand.

My eyes narrowed, and I heard Venom growl in my mind.

Stan leaned over and whispered to us.

Stan: Things have gotten worse with the Triad groups, and with the lack of law enforcement in this area, those jerks are free to run amok whenever and wherever they want.

We then see one of the Triads take a gold bracelet off the wife's wrist, her husband tried to stop them, but he was pushed to the ground as he helplessly watched the Triads walk away laughing with the bracelet in hand.

Stan: (frowns) It's people like them that almost make me agree with the Equalists.

I turned to Stan in shock.

Stan: But, my problem with them is that they associate all benders with the Triads, and that raises a lot of red flags. (sighs) Ever since Avatar Aang passed away, the bad guys have had nothing to fear anymore. The people of Republic City need a protector that is not afraid to get his hands dirty.

Stan then turned to me with a smile.

Stan: Luckily, I know a certain firebender and his extraterrestrial friend who fits the job description.

I smirked at the old man with Venom turning my teeth into fangs.

I paid for our food and then stood up from my seat.

(Y/N): Well, we should be going. It was great seeing you again Stan, we'll see you later.

We walked away from the stand, and Stan called out to us.

Stan: Good luck, you two, show those jerks what you're made of, EXCELSIOR!

I gave him a two-fingered salute and then kept walking.

Venom: So, what now?

(Y/N): Now?

I chuckled as I thought back to the three Triad members.

(Y/N): Let's get down to business.

Timeskip 3rd Person POV

The Triple Threat Triad, or the Triple Threats, is the oldest and largest triad group to operate in Republic City. The gang primarily consists of waterbenders, earthbenders, and firebenders, as opposed to the other single-element-focused gangs.

The gang itself is known to extort money from shopkeepers, stealing shipments, and blackmail public figures, and with the death of Avatar Aang and the new Avatar having yet to make an appearance, they have nothing and no one to fear.

Until now.

(Y/N) stood on top of a building, looking down at the warehouse across it.

After saying their goodbyes to Stan, the human and alien duo followed the three Triads to their hideout and waited until night fell to strike.

Looking down, (Y/N) saw five men stationed outside. Two within the fenced area, one was guarding the loading area for delivery trucks, one at the entrance, and three on the rooftop watching from a distance. The rest were most likely inside.

The firebender smirked, knowing that these idiots had no idea what was coming to them.

Venom: Shall we?

(Y/N): We shall.

(Y/N) stepped back into the darkness as black tissue began to cover his body. Once he was covered in the darkness, you can see his shape morph into a larger and more hulking figure. The figure then vanished into the night.

On the roof of the warehouse, one of the guards stood by with a cigarette in his hands. Just when he was about to take another drag of his cancer stick-

A clawed hand busted from his chest, obliterating his heart in the process and spraying blood onto the ground.

Suddenly, the owner of the clawed hand appeared out of thin air behind the now-dead Triad member.

It was an eight-foot-tall muscular humanoid-like creature. Its entire body was as black as the darkness around them, with white veins bulging over its body. Its face has familiar jagged white eyes and a mouth full of teeth.

This was Venom in his full form.

Venom pulled his hand out of the dead guard and watched as the body fell to the floor.

He turned to the warehouse door and fired some black webbing on it, sealing it shut.

He walked to the other side of the warehouse, passing by another body with the dead guard's head split in half.

Venom sealed the other doors preventing any form of escape, and then climbed up the wall and onto the roof.

Venom quietly vaulted over the side of the roof and saw one of the guards stationed up there patrolling the perimeter while two others were sitting around on chairs chatting, utterly oblivious to their dead friends.

Once he made sure the moving guard was far away from the other two, Venom crept over, never making a sound as he turned invisible once again.

He crept over behind the man, and a bladed tendril shot out of his arm and pierced right through the man's head.

The symbiote then proceeded to toss the body over the side of the roof. He turned to the two Triads and smirked before firing two tendrils that wrapped around the Triads necks and snapped them simultaneously.

Once he hid the bodies, he went to the door, but he stopped when he sensed movement on the other side.

He quickly jumped up and landed on top of the entrance and crouched just as the door opened and a Triad came out with a tired look on his face.

He looked up and saw the now empty roof, not aware of the predator that dropped down behind him.

Triad: (confused) Where is everybo-

He was cut off when two big hands clapped on his head, turning it into a red paste.

Venom watched the body fall to the ground as he shook the blood of his hands and then turned to the door.

(Y/N): So, buddy, what are their chances against us?

The symbiote held his chin in thought.

Venom: Hmmm, pretty much zero.

(Y/N): Good to hear, ready to have some fun?

A sharp grin spread across Venom's face as he skulked inside.

Venom: I thought you'd never ask.

Mini Timeskip

Well, it's safe to say that the alien and human duo were right.

The Triads stood no chance whatsoever.

The Triads screamed and shouted as they threw everything they had at the creature.

One of the earthbenders shot a slab of rock at the alien, only for it to be caught and thrown right back at him. The rock hits the Earthbending Triad into a wall squishing him in the process.

A waterbender shot a few frozen ice shards at the symbiote.

To his surprise, the ice shards hit the creature but went right through him. He smirked and merely stalked towards him with a savage smirk on his face.

Before the waterbending Triad could comprehend how that was possible, he was backhanded with great force; it threw him across the warehouse and crashed headfirst into a wall leaving a bloody smear in its wake.

Two other Triads tried opening the doors only for them not to budge. Even after using their bending abilities, the doors still wouldn't move an inch.

Suddenly, a black tendril grabbed one of the Triads and yanked him back. A loud crunch was heard throughout the warehouse.

The other Triad screamed in terror as he tried to run in another direction before the same tendril came back around and speared him through the back and out of his chest, killing him instantly.

The other survivors barricaded themselves in a large office area in the warehouse.

They all tried to catch their breath, but they still couldn't shake the feeling of fear due to the beast outside.

Triad member 1: WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT THING?!

Triad member 2: How the fuck should I know? It's not anything I've ever seen before!

They still couldn't believe it. Thirty Triads resided in the warehouse about an hour ago, and now there are only nine left.

One of the nine survivors sat in the corner of the room, hugging his knees and rocking back and forth, muttering craziness.

Triad member 3: The gods are punishing us! They sent their vengeful spirit to punish us!

Triad member 1: Shut up, Cho! You're not helping!

Triad member 4: But what if he's right, man? It's gotta be some type of spirit or something!

Triad member 2: But why would a spirit be here in Republic City? It makes no sense!

Both made good points this beast that tore through their men could be a violent spirit of some kind which is not uncommon in the world they live in, but at the same time, it should be impossible there has never been a spirit sighting in Republic City before, and they primarily reside in the North and South Pole.

Triad member 1: L-Look, it doesn't matter. We still outnumber it nine to one. I say we take it!

Triad member 5: Fuck that! There were thirty of us, and it tore through them like they were nothing. I say we bail and report this shit back to Zolt. He'll know what to do.

Triad member 6: And how do you suggest we do that, huh? In case you've forgotten, that thing is still outside.

One of the Triads close to the door held up his hand.

Triad member 7: Shhh! Shut up and listen.

Everyone went quiet. Even the crazy guy in the corner stopped muttering and listened for anything on the other side.

Triad member 7: I don't hear anything. I think it's gone.

Suddenly, the wall next to him burst inward, and a black clawed hand grabbed him by the face and pulled him into the opening until he was halfway outside.

His comrades grabbed his flailing legs and tried to pull him back in. None of them could comprehend the loud crunch and tear heard from outside.

The Triads managed to pull their friend back only to find him without a head. Blood began spraying from where the head previously was covering the other Triads causing them to scream in horror.

They dropped the body and shot all of their respective elements in the opening, trying to hit what was on the other side.

After about a minute, they eventually stopped, and only their panted breaths could be heard.

Triad member 2: Did we get it?

Triad member 1: I think we did...

Right after saying that, the barricaded door exploded, throwing two men back and sending debris flying. When the dust settled, the Triads looked at the door, and they looked in terror at what stood in the doorway.

It was Venom himself.

He turned to the terrified Triad members and smiled.

Venom: Knock knock.

One of the firebending Triads shot a stream of fire from his fist, covering the creature in flames.

He eventually stopped and watched in horror as the creature merely walked out, flames unaffected.

Venom and his host smiled because finally, after so much rigorous training, they were finally immune to fire.

Venom: Our turn.

Venom opened his mouth wide, and he breathed out a stream of fire.

The Triads can only scream as they are covered in flames.

Timeskip

It was not a good day for Mr. and Mrs. Takeshi. The old couple owned a small antique shop/home in Republic City and were probably the nicest people you could meet alongside old Stan, who had a food stand just across the street.

Unfortunately, that didn't stop the Triple Threat Triads from coming up to their shop/home and taking Mrs. Takeshi's gold bracelet, a gift from her mother.

It wasn't the first time the Triads came to their shop/home and took something from them, and it most likely won't be the last.

Mrs. Takeshi sat at her dining room table in her home, unable to fall asleep with her husband upstairs, and prayed that someone, anyone, would bring back the only thing she had as a memory of her mother.

Ever since the passing of Avatar Aang, crime in Republic City has been on the increase. She, alongside a lot of the city's citizens, prayed for a protector to keep them safe from the city's dangers.

Suddenly, there was a knock on her door, startling her. She stood up from her seat and walked towards the door. She opened it and was surprised to find no one was there. She then looked down, and there it was, laying on the ground, her mother's bracelet.

She picked it up with tears in her eyes, thanking every god for answering her prayers, she looked around to see if anyone was around but there was still no one around.

She went back inside, closing the door behind her, finally able to go to sleep peacefully.

On the roof of a building across from the couple's home stood (Y/N), who watched the whole scene with a smile on his face.

Venom: All in the day's work.

(Y/N): Yep, (yawns) I think it's about time we turn in for the night.

Venom: Of course, we have a long day tomorrow.

Venom then took over and jumped off the building they were standing on and fired a black web, and then swung into the night.

The citizens prayed for a protector, and now they got one, and they didn't get just any protector.

They got a Lethal Protector.
