Chapter 2: New Partner
Third Person POV
Nighttime had officially risen over the city of Musutafu. The dark orange sky had been replaced by a pitch-black one, and the only source of light was the gorgeous shine of the moon's light, the twinkling stars that dotted the vastness of the open black, and the almost neon-like lights that came from the city below.
A couple of hours had passed since the sludge villain incident that afternoon. The streets of the city were pretty much barren at this point, with all the people who were out and about heading back to their homes, soundly sleeping in their nice and comfortable beds.
Unfortunately, not everyone was doing the same thing, and there was a very good reason for that. At a nice and quiet street stood a building; a house, to be more specific, that seemed to be around two stories tall. The house itself had a nice modern design to it, with square patterns on the windows, two balconies, and an entrance that was very welcoming.
Yes, while the exterior of the household seemed nice and pleasing, the same couldn't be said for the interior, and not for the reason many would think.
The interior was just as nice as the outside of the house. The floor was a smooth wood, the walls were pale white in color, and the living room was almost jaw-dropping with how all the furniture was arranged, from the soft couch to the flat-screen TV.
The kitchen was also very nice as well. Ranging from the smooth white tiles to the marble countertop, the dark oak cupboards to the expensive-looking refrigerator and stove, it was large and spacious-not enough to feel empty or anything, but just enough for a good number of people to stand within it.
In fact, there were currently people inside the kitchen at this very moment; two of them to be specific, one male and the other female, and both looked very worried.
Female: "Where the hell is he?! It's been hours since I called him, and he still hasn't returned!"
Male: "Now, now, dear, let's not jump to any conclusions."
The woman looked at the man.
Female: "Aren't you worried about him?!"
Male: "I am worried about him, I am. But he's a smart boy."
The woman crossed her arms.
Female: "Then why hasn't he returned yet? He could be in trouble! Like what if ano-"
Male: "Mitsuki, calm down. Take a deep breath."
The woman, whose name was Mitsuki, paused for a moment as she listened to the man's words and took a deep breath before she exhaled.
Mitsuki was a mature woman, though she had a rather youthful-looking appearance despite how old she actually was. She had red eyes and a rather familiar spiked, sandy blonde hair that matched a certain young man. As for her attire, Mitsuki was currently wearing a white blouse underneath a lavender cardigan with a short black skirt.
Man: "There we go. Does that feel better?"
Mitsuki glared at the man with a small pout.
Mitsuki: "I don't need you babying me, Masaru!"
The man, whose name was Masaru, couldn't help but chuckle.
Masaru: "Well, someone needs to protect the neighborhood from you and Katsuki's rampages."
Mitsuki let out a small sigh.
Mitsuki: "Why did I even marry you?"
Masaru merely shrugged his shoulders.
Masaru: "Who knows, honey. Who knows?"
Unlike his wife, Masaru's appearance was that of a middle-aged man of average height and build-basically, someone who seemed like a regular office worker. Similar to Mitsuki and Bakugo, Masaru also had spiked hair, but unlike theirs, his was brown in color.
Masaru: "Maybe it was my good looks... or maybe the fact that I was the only one who could handle your attitude."
Mitsuki: "Hey!"
She punched her husband's shoulder.
Mitsuki: "I don't have an attitude!"
Masaru merely chuckled in response.
Masaru: "Well, our son had to have gotten it from someone, and last time I checked, I'm not aggressive. Speaking of which..."
He placed a hand on his wife's shoulder.
Masaru: "Katsuki may have a bit of a temper. But we both know that he's a strong boy, so don't worry too much."
Mitsuki: "I know, honey. It's just that... perhaps we should have raised him bet-"
Before Mitsuki had a chance to finish her sentence, she was cut off when both she and Masaru heard the sound of a door opening for a few seconds, only to close right after. The two adults began to make their way over, knowing fully well who the person that just entered was.
They had three keys to the front door. Both Mitsuki and Masaru had one, mainly in case one of them got home early and the other was still at work because they both had separate jobs. They gave the third and final key to their son in case school ended early, and they wouldn't be home before him.
So far, that hadn't happened yet, but they still gave him the key in case such an event transpired. Unfortunately, Mitsuki and Masaru had more important things to worry about, such as why their son took so long getting home when he said that he wasn't far from home.
Mitsuki: "Katsuki Bakugo! You better have a damn good reason for getting home so la-"
Both adults walked around the corner and were greeted by the sight of their child: Katsuki Bakugo. However, Mitsuki didn't finish her sentence-or rather her yelling at the sandy blonde-haired boy-because she immediately noticed something was off with him.
She saw the sludge villain incident on the news, and even though he was saved by the number 1 Pro Hero, All Might, she also noticed Izuku attempted to save him as well while the other Pro Heroes simply stood back and watched. While she was touched by the boys' bravery, she knew that Katsuki wouldn't think the same.
They may have been childhood friends, but once Izuku was announced Quirkless, Katsuki became more aggressive with him and started to bully the poor boy. Mitsuki had drilled it into his head to stop bullying Izuku, but she knew that it was basically a waste of her breath because of her son's upbringing.
Since he discovered his quirk, people kept telling him how great he was or how powerful his quirk would be when he grew up. This went on for years until it grew into a superiority complex and clouded Bakugo's judgment. He believed that he didn't need help from anyone. He believed that he shouldn't be helped by those who were weaker.
Since Izuku attempted to save him from the sludge villain, Mitsuki fully expected her son to come stomping through the front door, cursing Midoriya's name like there was no tomorrow. But he wasn't doing that. In fact, he was oddly... calm right now, and that concerned her.
Mitsuki: "K-Katsuki, are you okay?"
Bakugo merely glanced at his mother, raising an eyebrow in confusion.
Bakugo: "Why wouldn't I be, Old Hag?"
Normally, Mitsuki would slap her son and scold him for calling her that. However, she merely ignored her child's rude comment and reached a hand out, feeling his forehead.
Bakugo blinked in confusion.
Bakugo: "The fuck you doing?!"
Mitsuki: "Are you feeling okay? You didn't come in all grumpy, cursing Izuku's name for trying to save you."
Bakugo merely glanced away from his mother, pushing her hand to the side.
Bakugo: "I'm fine. Just tired, is all..."
Mitsuki: "I see..."
She glanced at Masaru, signaling him to say something about their child's sudden change in attitude.
Masaru: "U-Um..."
He cleared his throat.
Masaru: "You want some food, Son? You must be starving after such a long d-"
Bakugo: "I'm not hungry..."
The sandy blonde-haired boy then started to walk towards the stairs, glancing back at his two parents, who stared at him with looks of confusion and surprise.
Bakugo: "I'll see you both in the morning..."
With that, Bakugo turned back forward and started to walk up the stairs as his parents merely watched in complete silence, hoping that everything was alright with their son because this wasn't his regular behavior.
??? : 'You have some rather interesting parents...'
Bakugo paused for a moment when the deep voice echoed throughout his mind, but he silently sighed to himself and kept walking.
Bakugo: 'Yeah, I guess...'
??? : 'I sense that you have... questions?'
Bakugo: 'Jeez, what do you think!?'
The voice let out a small sigh.
??? : 'I'll explain once we get to your room'
Bakugo simply let out his own sigh and kept walking towards his bedroom, which was directly across from the bathroom. When he got to the door, he grabbed the doorknob and opened it to reveal his bedroom.
Bakugo's bedroom wasn't anything special, though it did have all the basic necessities that a bedroom would have, such as a comfortable bed, a desk with a computer on it, and some drawers and shelves that had things ranging from books like manga and light novels that Bakugo enjoys reading to items like an All Might figurine.
Once he was inside, Bakugo immediately closed his bedroom door and locked it so that he wouldn't be disturbed by his parents. The last thing he wanted to do was explain something that he wanted answers to as well.
He walked over to his bed and sat on the edge of it with a serious look on his face.
Bakugo: "Alright then, start talking..."
At that moment, Bakugo watched as black liquid began to emerge from his body in strands before forming into some kind of head that lifted itself up to his eye level. The head in question had the most bizarre appearance with pure white jagged eyes and a wide toothy grin.
Bakugo had to admit, despite its rather unique-looking appearance, he didn't feel afraid of the thing. Though that didn't mean he wasn't surprised by how it looked.
Bakugo: "What the hell are you?"
Venom: "I am Venom. And you are mine"
Bakugo raised an eyebrow.
Bakugo: "Venom?"
Venom nodded his head.
Venom: "Yes, that is my name, or rather... it is now our name"
Hearing all this just made Bakugo even more confused. What was he talking about? How was Venom's name also Bakugo's? And what did he mean by he belonged to Venom?
Bakugo: "Okay then, what the fuck even are you?"
Venom: "I am what is known as a Klyntar. However, you humans have also fittingly dubbed me a Symbiote"
Bakugo raised another eyebrow.
Bakugo: "You make it sound like you're not from here."
Venom: "That's because I am not. I am what your species may refer to as... an alien"
Bakugo simply stared at Venom in silence. Despite wanting to become the next number 1 hero, he never really read much when it came to comic books or anything sci-fi in general because he had other things to do. A very small part of him didn't want to believe that Venom was actually an alien because of how ridiculous it sounded. But for some reason, the rest of him actually believed his words.
He wasn't sure why, though, but if he had to take a random guess, then it probably has something to do with them being... bonded to each other. It was strange, very strange. Bakugo felt like he could somehow feel what Venom felt, and so far, he hasn't told a single lie.
Bakugo: "So... You're an alien"
Venom: "Indeed I am, but I can sense that you want answers for what I did to those thugs"
Bakugo paused for a moment. He wasn't really surprised that Venom knew what he was going to say because anyone in his position would more than likely ask the same thing.
Bakugo: "Yeah, why did you do it..."
(Flashback)
Middle Thug: "What the hell is that!?"
Short Thug: "Holy shit!"
Venom roared at the three thugs, showing off the rows of sharp teeth that were within its mouth.
(Flashback End)
Bakugo: "You could've knocked them out, but you didn't..."
(Flashback)
Three tendrils erupted from Venom's back and shot out towards the thugs, grabbing them by either their necks or their clothing and bringing them towards Venom, who growled at the trio.
Venom: "Eyes, lungs, pancreas... so many snacks, so little time!"
The three thugs stared at Venom with expressions of absolute horror, fear filling their entire being as Venom used a long serpent-like tongue to lick one of the thug's faces, tasting the flavor of their flesh.
(Flashback End)
Bakugo: "You just...."
Bakugo didn't finish his own sentence as he shifted his gaze away from Venom and towards his bedroom floor. He could still hear their voices. He swore that he could still hear the screams of the three thugs, begging for their lives to be spared only to be met with razor-sharp teeth and the jaw strength of something that would make even the most iconic dinosaur in history, the T-rex, blush.
Bakugo should be disgusted with Venom. He should be furious that the alien basically used his body to commit a crime when the sandy blonde-haired boy's dream was to be a hero like All Might. Yet, for some reason, for some damn reason, Bakugo doesn't feel as upset as someone would be when murder is involved.
Bakugo: "Why did you do it..."
He looked up at Venom.
Bakugo: "Why did you kill them..."
Venom: "They were a threat. I owed you for coming to save me"
Bakugo: "So... it was your voice I heard?"
Venom was a little surprised by those words. It had tried to call out for help, but it knew that it would receive no answer because it couldn't even move.
Venom: "You heard my call? My voice reached you?"
Bakugo nodded his head.
Bakugo: "I thought I was hearing things, but I went to check it out. Now I have a head-eating alien in my body!"
Venom merely chuckled.
Venom: "Don't worry, I promise to only eat BAD guys. That way, you can still be the number one hero, Katsuki Bakugo"
Bakugo wasn't surprised that Venom knew his name; he probably heard it from his mother when she was yelling at him earlier. No, what surprised him was the fact that Venom knew that Bakugo wanted to be the number one pro hero.
Bakugo: "How did you..."
Venom: "I'm inside your mind. I know everything that you know, and I must say... you are truly an interesting host"
Bakugo raised an eyebrow.
Bakugo: "How?"
Venom: "I've only had two other hosts from your planet, and while you're not as strong as one of them, you have a fire inside of you..."
Bakugo watched as Venom's already toothy grin started to grow a little.
Venom: "It is that fire that has made me greatly interested in you"
Bakugo wasn't sure whether or not he should feel glad that someone has taken interest in his potential or if he should feel creeped out by the way that Venom phrased his wording.
His entire day had been nothing but one crazy thing after another. First, he finds out that Deku was trying to get into U.A. High when he basically had no chance whatsoever. Then he gets attacked by some sludge villain that tried to take over his body. To make things worse, none of the Pro Heroes tried to save him and stood by as Deku, of all people, did a better job than them.
And now he has an alien that likes to eat people's heads living inside of his body. Bakugo wasn't sure if he had done something to piss off God, but if he didn't, then he sure as hell hoped that all of this was merely a part of some lucid dream.
Bakugo pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a small sigh.
Bakugo: "You know what.... I'm gonna go to bed..."
He looked at Venom.
Bakugo: "Don't do anything stupid while I sleep."
Venom gave the sandy blonde-haired boy an innocent smile, which he had to admit did not look pretty with the symbiote appearance.
Venom: "I'll be on my best behavior"
Bakugo just sighed again as he lay down, placing his head on one of his pillows and yawning a little. He closed his eyes and tried to get some sleep, though it was a little bit difficult because the memories and the voices of what he, or rather what Venom, had done to the three thugs continued to ring out through his mind on repeat.
Bakugo has always been aggressive and may shout out the word "Die" every now and again. However, that didn't mean he wanted to actually kill anyone. He desired to be the next number one hero. The strongest hero. The greatest hero of all time. He wanted to be a hero that never loses to anyone.
But killing people? Eating their heads? Bakugo would never let such a thing continue to happen; it would ruin his chances of being something he had dreamed of becoming since he was a little boy.
However, for some strange reason, despite the horrific event that transpired with the three thugs, Bakugo didn't really feel upset about their deaths.
(Time Skip brought to you by Venom watching Bakugo sleep like Blitzø)
Venom: "Hey..."
Silence.
Venom: "Hey, wake up!"
Bakugo let out a small groan as he began to slowly awaken from his slumber. When he opened his eyes, he was greeted by the sight of Venom hovering over him. It was safe to say that Bakugo knows that this wasn't a lucid dream. He really did meet an alien and almost got rescued by deku yesterday.
Bakugo let out a small sigh as he sat up in his bed. Despite being greeted by Venom's bizarre appearance; the sandy blonde-haired boy felt more rested than he had ever felt in weeks. He wondered if this was because of Venom? He was bonded to Bakugo. There was no telling what he was doing to his body.
Bakugo: "Looks like it wasn't a dream. I really am the host of an alien parasite"
Venom: "Parasite!"
Bakugo flinched slightly, which took him by surprise. He could feel Venom's anger flowing throughout his entire body. He guessed that he didn't like hearing that word.
Bakugo: "I guess you don't like being called that?"
Venom: "Apologies!"
Bakugo: "Huh?"
Venom: "APOLOGIES!!"
Bakugo: "Okay! I'm sorry, Jeez. There's no need to shout."
Venom snorted at Bakugo, whose gaze moved over to his alarm clock to see what the time currently was, and it was safe to say that he was a little surprised by what time it was.
[5:00 AM]
Bakugo: "It's five in the morning?"
Venom: "Indeed, it is"
Bakugo turned his attention towards the symbiote with a look of confusion on his face. Five in the morning was not the time that Bakugo would normally wake up. He does wake up early, but not when the sun was only starting to rise over the bloody horizon.
It made him wonder, did Venom change his alarm clock, or did he purposely wake him up at this time for some reason? Either way, Bakugo was still gonna be annoyed with the alien because he was woken up so early.
Bakugo: "Any reason why you decided to wake me up so early in the morning?"
Venom: "Since we are now partners, I shall be assisting you with your goal of becoming a hero. All you have to do is keep me fed"
Bakugo crossed his arms.
Bakugo: "And what do I have to feed you?"
Even though Bakugo was asking this question, he had a feeling that he already knew what Venom wanted to eat.
Venom: "Brains!"
Bakugo simply sighed as he stood up.
Bakugo: "Yeah, that's not happening..."
Venom merely growled in annoyance as Bakugo started to walk towards his bedroom door, Venom's head following along beside him. Once he reached the door, he grabbed the doorknob and opened it up, revealing the empty hallway. Despite how early in the morning it was, Bakugo noticed that he could see every inch of the hallway like it was clear as day.
He guessed it was one of the perks of being bonded with Venom. Not only did the symbiote somehow make him feel more rested, but it also improved his eyesight to the point that he almost had night vision. Who knows what else Venom could do to Bakugo? The possibilities were almost endless.
The sandy blonde-haired boy made his way out of his bedroom, down the hallway, and down the stairs, making sure to be as quiet as he possibly could. It was the weekend, which meant that his parents wouldn't be working; meaning that they would want to sleep in, and he doubted that they would want to be rudely awakened by their son with an alien in his body.
Venom: "So what are we having for breakfast?"
He then licked his fangs.
Venom: "I'm starving!"
Bakugo: "We're not eating..."
This surprised Venom as his head immediately whipped around in front of Bakugo's face.
Venom: "What!? What do you mean that we're not eating!?"
Bakugo raised one finger.
Bakugo: "First of all, shut up. My parents are sleeping."
He then raised another one.
Bakugo: "Secondly, you're in my head, so you should know that I'm going out for a jog"
Venom growled.
Venom: "But I'm hungry!"
Bakugo sighed.
Bakugo: "I'll feed you when we get back. Is that alright with you, sludge ball?"
Venom growled again, clearly not liking the little nickname that Bakugo just gave him. He was hungry, and Bakugo could feel that hunger due to their bond. He would be lying if he said that he wasn't hungry because he actually was. But he knew that if he started to cook breakfast, then that would simply wake his parents up.
The best course of action is to hold off from eating until Bakugo has finished his morning jog. By then, both of his parents should be awake, and he will be able to make some breakfast. The only other problem is finding a substitute for Venom because the chances of finding a bad guy this early in the morning are nigh-impossible.
Venom seemed to agree with Bakugo's decision as he looked away with an annoyed expression.
Venom: "Very well then, we'll wait until after your jog"
He then gave Bakugo a side-eye glance.
Venom: "But if you don't, then I eat your liver!"
Bakugo merely rolled his eyes, not falling for Venom's fake threat.
Bakugo: "Yeah, yeah. Whatever, just hide so no one sees you."
Venom: "Very well then..."
With that, Venom started to make his head disappear, and Bakugo simply watched in silence as the black liquid sank back into his body.
Venom: 'Let's get going'
Bakugo blinked in surprise.
Bakugo: "You can talk in my head?"
Venom: 'Yes, we can talk in your mind when in public so no one thinks that you're crazy'
Bakugo had to admit; that was both pretty cool and a very convenient ability to have because he honestly thought that he was going to have to talk to Venom out in the open, which would not look good for anyone else in the area because they'd probably think that he's crazy or something.
Anyways, Bakugo decided to not waste any more time and made his way over towards the front door. He reached for the doorknob and opened it, heading outside before he closed it behind him. The moment that he did that, he could feel a slight chilly breeze wash over his face as he gazed upon the deserted street.
Since it was so early in the morning, the streets were completely barren except for the cars that were left out by their owners. The sky was a light shade of purple/gray, but Bakugo did catch a faint glimpse of a glimmer of light off in the distance, meaning that it wouldn't be long before the sun rises upon the land.
Bakugo took in a deep breath before he exhaled, his breath visible due to how cold it was. He knew that it would eventually warm up when the sun rises, but until then he'll just have to suck it up and endure the chill for a while.
The reason he says this was because of the outfit that he was currently wearing. He didn't notice at first because he was more focused on the fact that Venom woke him up early, but Bakugo was wearing something completely different from yesterday.
Instead of his high school uniform, he was currently wearing some simple gym clothing, consisting of a pair of grey shorts and a black t-shirt.
Bakugo: 'When did I put this on?'
Venom: 'You didn't. One of my abilities is shape-shifting, and I used it to give you some appropriate clothing'
Bakugo raised an eyebrow.
Bakugo: 'So you can make my clothing into anything I desire?'
Venom: 'Yes'
Bakugo: 'Jeez, what can't you do?'
Venom: 'Yes'
Bakugo merely sweat-dropped at the lack of a response.
With that out of the way, sort of, Bakugo started to jog down the street. Even though Venom had woken him up much earlier than he normally does, he'll still stop at the regular time he's always done, which was after doing 10 km. Then again, he may unknowingly do more since he still didn't know what Venom had done to his body since bonding.
Bakugo really needed to take the time to figure out the benefits and the side effects of having Venom since he's going to be sticking around. When he does that, Bakugo will be able to figure out how to properly utilize Venom's abilities alongside his own quirk. He was very interested in his shape-shifting ability; it could come in very handy when it came to Bakugo's future Hero costume.
Bakugo originally was going to design his hero costume around his Quirk; Explosion, and use special gauntlets that could collect and store his sweat so that he could unleash a devastating explosion when he needed to. However, he may need to reconsider that action now that Venom had opened his mind to so many possibilities.
Venom: 'Bakugo...'
Bakugo: 'What?'
Venom: 'On your left'
Bakugo was confused at first. However, that soon changed when he realized that he was no longer on his street. In fact, judging by his current surroundings, he was close by to a place that he hadn't been to since he was very young, and that was the Takoba Municipal Beach Park.
Bakugo: 'Takoba Municipal Beach...'
Bakugo then realized that if he was at the beach, which was located at the coastline, then that means that he had been running further than 10km. He honestly didn't know how far he had been running since leaving his house, but he knew that it was very far. To top it all off, Bakugo didn't even feel winded.
Bakugo: 'Fucking hell... I ran for THAT long'
Venom: 'Forget about that, we got other things to focus on'
Bakugo raised an eyebrow.
Bakugo: 'Like what?'
Venom: 'On your left'
Hearing those words left Bakugo even more confused than he already was. What did that even mean? On his left?
Bakugo: 'What are you talking about? What's to my le-'
Before Bakugo could finish his sentence, he turned his head over to where Venom told him to look and was greeted by a sight that left him absolutely shocked. A sight that he honestly couldn't believe.
Bakugo: 'Is that... Deku with All Might!?'
