Prompt: #2. A pirate is chosen by a prophecy to wield a powerful weapon that can control the elements. He must learn to master his new abilities and use them to fight against an evil empire that seeks to conquer the world.

Synopsis: I always believed that we had done a good job of avoiding the war that was beginning to consume Astaria. We were pirates, after all. All we wanted was to plunder from those undeserving of their wealth. We were doing a damn good job, too. No one could steal from as many high profile clients as we could and that attracted the attention of a mysterious, hooded man.

He gave us the location of a treasure trove, claiming we could keep it all. The only thing he wanted was a sword that was sealed within. It sounded too good to be true and... maybe it was.

INTRODUCTION

First off, I want to say I have no idea what's going on with the wordcount. My writing app says it's exactly 3,000 words while Wattpad says it's 2,900 and Wordcounter.net claims it's 3,007. How is that even possible? I can only hope it turns out correctly for the judging T_T)/

I've always loved pirates ever since I watched Pirates of the Caribbean and I've always wanted to write my own pirate fic. So, when I saw this contest, I was pretty excited about it! I'm not sure if I got across everything I wanted in the allotted number of words, but I'm quite happy with the outcome.
